Mabel Murphy's

If you're looking for a chill, classy place to hang with friends, then go elsewhere. There was a time when Mabel Murphy's was the nice place to meet with your friends and have a drink while conversing, but not anymore. Sure, drinks were a bit more expensive, but it was a trade off you were willing to make to be able to relax and hang with your friends. Now when you go to Mabel Murphy's, expect to have the music blasted and your drinks still be overpriced. My recommendation is to take your business to Terry's Bar across the corner, Calhoun Beach Club across the street or even Obrien's if you choose. The music will be just as loud but at least the drinks will be cheaper than at Mabel's. The days of class and sophistication has left Mabel's and it's been replaced with a cheap club-type rip off of too loud music and poor service. more

This bar attracts many college students and other younger people but is not as rowdy as some other college bars. For me this is a great place to sit down and have a few drinks. The atmosphere is very friendly for conversation but also to meet new people since this place is rarely dead on weekends.
