Poor customer experience 1/4/2010

We will not be returning to this place, ever! Unfortunately I can't tell you if the food is good or not since we're not able to actually sit down and eat due to the fiasco below. My rating is purely based on professionalism and customer service.\r \r My husband and I were driving up from Austin on Christmas Eve and the weather was bad and the roads were getting icy. Since it was Christmas Eve, not many places are open and so I called TWICE to MK Sushi to make sure they would be open by the time we got there. During my second call at 7:55 pm, I asked again to confirm they would be open, AND I even advised the girl who answered the phone that the roads were getting slick and if they felt they would still be open. She confirmed yes and that they would be open until 9:30. I confirmed the address of the location since we desperately needed to get off the roads after a 5 hour drive from Austin in nasty weather. \r \r We finally arrived at MK Sushi at 8:40 pm and a girl walked out and met us at the door and told us they were closed. My husband was furious- much of it since we were so tired from driving and we were hungry- but we were the most upset since we called 2 TIMES to make sure they were open. There were other places we could have tried to go to but we called to confirm this place would be open, they said they would be open and therefore that is the restaurant we drove to through the icy weather. \r \r The bartender, and I guess also the manager, said that his waitresses only get paid $2.30 an hour, that they hadn't had a customer for 2 hours (even though we saw a couple eating at the bar), and since the roads were getting bad, he couldn't keep the waitresses working any longer. After telling us several times that ""Sorry, nothing I can do. We are closing"" and us telling him the reason we were upset if that we called less than an hour ago to confirm they would be open, we just drove 5 hours from Austin, and we needed a place to eat, he curtly said, ""Fine! Have a seat."" At that point, and knowing what waiters do to food with customers they don't like, we left and found Posada's Mexican Cafe across the street still open and ate there. \r \r It was not the Christmas Eve dinner I envisioned since for over 25 years, my family's tradition is to eat Asian food on Christmas Eve, but at that moment, we were just appreciating a place treating us with respect and even though it was 5 minutes until their normal closing time, they welcomed us in and served us with no fuss or hassle. The waitress was friendly, the food was fresh and hot, and we gave her an extra big tip to say thanks! \r \r We love sushi and the food at MK Sushi might be fabulous but my husband and I will never know since when I visit Fort Worth again, I will rather get snacks from a gas station that give any of my money to MK Sushi off Western Center Blvd. Pros: I've ""heard"" the food is good Cons: customer service is not reliable more
