Fantastic 8/9/2011

Fresh bread and fresh baked goods who could ask for more!! It always smells like my house growing up when my grandmother would bake fresh every weekend and that’s why I keep going back.. a little reminder of home is always good for the soul. more

Mm...mm! 4/4/2011

Very nice spot for breakfast or lunch. I would go back again. Like another reviewer I like to order the sauces on the side. The savory crepes are quite good in texture and variety while I find some of the sweet ones too sugary...not saying its bad, just for my taste...others love it!!! Not exactly French, but good faux French. I would head there now if lunch had not already been consumed. Go Lulu's!! more

Luv Luv Luv Lulu's 5/29/2010

Great place for breakfast, and lunch. I haven't had dinner here yet. It is not in the prettiest shopping center, but Lulu's is decorated like a sweet little french Cafe and really does transport you! The Sweet crepes are delish! The Savory crepes can be a bit rich, I like to order the sauces on the side. Great service yummy food, and its quite cozy. Try it! Pros: Delish treats Cons: Some too saucy? more

Cute place for lunch, though a trifle on the slow side 3/3/2010

In honor of restaurant week, my husband and I decided to take an extended lunch break from work and shower Lulu's with our patronage. The prix fixe menu here was truly an exceptional deal - $10 for a three course meal, including appetizer, entree and dessert! I enjoyed the soup du jour (lentil on the day I dined), french dip sandwich with fries, and the strawberry nutella crepe for dessert. My other half commissioned the Indian lunch crepe for an entree. I found the soup and sandwich to be rather mundane; they were decent, but not exactly distinct from similar fare found at typical family diners. The dessert crepe was significantly more pleasing to the palate though. My consort found his Indian crepe savory and appetizing, though sadly not as filling as he would have wished. The courses came out rather slowly and our drink glasses sat empty without refills for the majority of our meal. I was in a placid mood so it didn't bother me too much, but normally I would've expected more attentive service. I don't think we were deliberately neglected; rather, they were seriously understaffed. All in all I found Lulu's to be quite the little bijou. I will definitely revisit to try some of the other crepes, and I hope they will hire a few more servers and chefs! Pros: delicious crepes, polite servers, incomparable butter Cons: slow service (perhaps they need more staff) more

Great Dinner and Jazz Singer 10/3/2009

My friends and I went to Lulu’s for dinner and had a terrific time. We not only enjoyed the food, but the wonderful singer that they had there during dinner. The service was prompt and the waitress was very sweet. I had the rack of lamb with a delicious rice pilaf and the most incredible green beans I have ever eaten! My friends had the filet mignon and a seafood crepe --- both were very tasty. However, for dessert, we had a Bananas Foster Crepe topped with this incredible homemade vanilla ice cream --- so yummy!!! I am going back to try the rest of the dessert crepes they offer there! Pros: Entertainment, Crepes, Rack of Lamb, Vegetables Cons: Hard to Find more

Yummy Crepes! 7/12/2009

The crepes at Lulu's are the BEST I have had outside of Paris! My favorites are the Chocolate-Hazelnut Crepe (i.e. Nutella) with fresh strawberries and the Irish -- a delightful crepe flambe with Baileys Irish Cream, bananas, and fresh strawberries. For dinner, I have tried (and loved) both the La Mer (seafood crepe) and the Francaise (chicken & portobello mushrooms). The crepes at Lulus are the Brittany-Style -- if you haven't tried them yet -- they are just like you would get in Paris! Pros: Best Crepes Outside of Paris Cons: Hard to find the cafe! more

Not recommended anymore 6/7/2009

It was the first time that I was back to Lulu's Cafe, now Lulu's Crepererie in 2 years. The chef is not the same. If the decoration has not changed, it is not the case of the food. Before it was not a creperie, now it is. I do not know where the "chef" learned how to do crepes, but he should go back to school. First and foremost, he does not cook them enough. The dough is far from the real stuff and moreover the salty ones are swimming into their sauce (it at least cover the poor taste, or add taste to the tasteless dough). The sweet ones are dry and the dough has no taste either. Please give up and cook juicy hamburgers instead. Pros: Ambiance Cons: Crepes more

Great place for a charming and affordable night. 5/24/2009

WoW! The dessert was fantastic!!! Do yourself a favor and order Le Pomme Crepe! Also, I would suggest visiting on a Friday or Saturday night for the free live entertainment. The Violinist was very good and added to the pleasant atmosphere. Pros: Good food, better dessert!! Cons: None more

Wonderful Food ---- Exceptional Entertainment 2/28/2009

My husband and I went to Lulu's this weekend for the first time. Several friends had highly recommended it, so we decided to try it. We had the BEST time. The violinist there is top notch --- she has toured with major Broadway musicals and is truly exceptional! At the next table from us was a retired director from the LA Philharmonic and a renowned cellist himself who commented on the exceptional talent of this lovely lady! If she wasn't so talented, I would have started with the food! We started our dinner with a lovely Chardonnay -- and to our surprise, a complementary Pate Platter was served with our wine --- delicious! We then had the French Onion Soup --- some of the best I have ever tasted in the United States. It took me back to my travels in France. We then had the Salmon (tender, delicious!) and the Osso Bucco (absolutely perfect!). We finished our dinner with Creme Brulee. This was one of the best creme brulees I have had. I cannot believe it took us so long to go to this quaint, family-owned restaurant. You should try it --- it won't disappoint! Pros: Food and Entertainment Cons: None --- it was lovely more

Rude even by phone. 2/4/2009

I've been scouting out several locations across the US and this was the rudest restaurant that I've spoken to as of yet. Whoever answered the phone (and fools me for forgetting to get his name) was downright rude to me. more

My New Favorite Place!!! 1/13/2009

My friends and I went there on Saturday night --- and were blown away by both the food (we went for the crepes) and the entertainment. Since we wanted to try the Irish Crepe (a dessert made with Baileys Irish Cream, Bananas, Strawberries --- and filled with Nutella), we decided to have something different for dinner. Between us, we shared the Osso Bucco (YUM!!!), Poached Salmon (SOOOO tender and delicious), and Lamb (OMG!!!). Of course, we started with wine (and received a complimentary pate platter (!!!) with it. Then we moved on to some of the BEST french onion soup I have ever tasted. The bad news was that we hardly had ROOM LEFT for the dessert, but we forced ourselves anyway! To top it off, we had them add some of their homemade vanilla bean ice cream, aka frozen creme brulee (my favorite). So delish! The entertainment that night was a concert violinist playing some of the greatest show tunes (Phantom, anyone?) We just had the greatest evening. The only downside was that quite a few others ALSO were having a great evening! We had plenty of time between our courses, which was fine for us since we were having such an enjoyable time. The staff at Lulu's is great --- they got us everything we needed and checked back to make sure we were fine. Our waiter was the NICEST GUY as well. This is certainly our new favorite place! Pros: Adorable restaurant! Cons: Hidden away more

Little Touch of France 12/13/2008

I came upon this restaurant while searching on line for other things and it stuck in my head. As we bemoaned that there are no Mom & Pop type places in South Orange County to go to for breakfast/lunch, I remembered seeing this place on line. We decided to give it a try. All I can say is that I am a convert and will be a regular at this place. I have spent at least half of my life in France and I have eaten in some of the best restaurants in the world, so my expectations are pretty high. The menu is truly diverse and offers options for practically everyone (including lots of vegetarian choices). My partner had the Normandie Omelette (sausage, bacon, tomatoes, scallions) and raved about it. The roasted potatoes served with it were amazing....perfect. As for me, I tried one of the Gallettes: La Zorba Crepe (gallette with spinach, mushroom, tomatoes, feta cheese, kalamata olives) in a light cream sauce. I had not had a gallette since my last visit to St. Malo and Lulu's did not disappoint. The service was great and the staff all very friendly. The Provence decor was very pleasing as well. I look forward to my next visit and more menu exploration. Pros: Diverse menu, Amazing Food Cons: None more

Veggie Delight 12/10/2008

Great Vegetarian restaurant. The dinner crepes are faboulous!!! If this place wasn't so far from me i'd eat it everyday more

Fantastic Dinner and Entertainment 10/31/2008

This restaurant was recommended by a friend who told us great things about the food and entertainment, so we went last week-end with several friends. We had wine (which came with a complimentary pate platter), and then ordered the Osso Bucco, Monk Fish, and several dinner crepes. The dinner was delicious, but even better was the delightful entetainment offered. The singer does many classics, and it was a perfect accompanyment to our dinner. We stayed the entire evening talking and listening to the music. At the end, we shared a full order of Profiteroles (comes with 4 -- one for each of us). They were filled with the most delightful homemade vanilla ice cream, decidedly the best I have ever tasted! This is a delightful dinner experience and a great place to spend the evening relaxing, eating, and listening to music. Pros: Delicious -- and great entertainment for dinner Cons: Hard to find -- it is inside a small plaza in Laguna Hills more
