Loved the pan pizza here!!

Worst

I know it takes time to make a good pizza, but after an hour+ wait, and the waitress still got the order wrong! The pie tasted good, but I'll never visit this place again. ...

Editorial review from Citysearch 7/28/2013

Love this place the pizza pie is amazing all fresh ingredients they use. I have been a customer for 20 years and have never had a problem. From the time I walk in the restaurant and smell the aroma it makes me so hungry . You won't be disappointed !!! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 5/21/2013

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND A pizza place that does not deliver, poor customer service, dress code, etc. We recently ordered a pizza and found two pices of hair on the pizza we called to notify Louisa's and they did not believe there was hair on the pizza. They claimed that all there cooks wear hair nets. While I was waiting to pick up the pizza I glanced into the kitchen and saw that none of the cooks wore hair nets. Also the owner wanted the entire pizza back even through we ate half and she was not going to do to anything for us. The owner blamed the hair on us. Very unprofessional for a pizza place to act this way to customers. I will tell everyone I know not to go to this place. more

LOUISA'S PIZZA AND PASTA 7/25/2011

Despite the reviews we saw on the net, Louisa's was fantastic. Excellent service, the owners came to our table to see how we were doing, and the pizza was amazing!!! We will definitely go back again...next time we will have the pasta! more

DO NOT go to this Restaurant 3/6/2011

This place has really gone south. It seems to of taken on the personality of a cranky old women, hence the name Louisa's. From the second you come up to the door they have a signs stating no tanks tops on men which I find understandable but they seem to have alot of rules posted just about every from the coat closet to the menu. They will not let you split a check or let you pay with multiple debit cards. This generation does not carry cash, a couple of us had to run across the street (nearly getting hit by a semi) to hit a cash station. They really need a cash station in the front entrance is they are going to have this policy. This type of thing creates issues with the check if your out with a bunch of people. Who wants to have to put the whole bill on someones else's card and have everyone else owe them. We the customer should not have to do your accounting Louisa just so you can save a few bucks on credit fees. One of the women at our table asked for a different pasta with her Veil Parmesan and they straight up said no. The coat closet had a sign saying they will donate your jacket if you leave it there, which I don't believe needs to be said. They even made the table next to us move because they were closing the dinning area at 10. Ultimately the feeling of eating there is very uncomfortable, I will tell everyone I know not to goto this place. The pizza is ok but Lou Malinatis is much less hassle. Louisa if you don't want people to come you your restaurant your on the right path. more

Best Pizza on South Side 10/14/2010

I dont know what part was my fav., the buttery crust, fresh tomatoes, or the tasty sausage. It was my first time there(saw it in Chicago Magazine for pest pie), and it didnt dissapoint. I will be sure to tell all of my friends. more

Bad 10/1/2010

Asked to split the bill they refuse to split the bill. There pizza, crust is good and that's about it for there pizza the sauce was to chunky and watery barely any cheese on it rather spend 5 bucks on a little caesars more

Worst Service Anywhere - they hate their customers 9/17/2010

When we complained that the chicken was dry, they denied it. Then they got verbally abusive with us. When we left, they followed us into the parking lot and jotted down our license number! Unbelievable! more

Great Pizza 2/4/2010

My experience is the best pizza in southwest side more

The best homemade pasta 11/18/2009

The pizza is very good but the pasta is even better. Chatting with Louisa was nice. She proudly stated the pasta and the sauce are made fresh daily. And you can tell. Pros: Attention to detail by the family Cons: Decor needs a little face-lift more

Great Pizza! Great Place! 10/2/2009

We came for pizza on the recommendation of a local. We were not disappointed. The pizza is in the Unos/Dues tradition, not surprising since Louisa worked for Dues for 25 years. The crust is flaky with serious homemade character. The ingredients (we had sausage, green pepper, onion, mushroom, and garlic) were well distributed and balanced. This was a truly great Chicago style deep dish pizza. We had the extra bonus of sitting next to family friends with Louisa very much part of the group. Being in the mood for fun, we weren't disappointed. The service was courteous and attentive. The dinner salad with house Italian dressing was a bit disappointing, but, as I said, we came for pizza. This place has tons of character and is well worth a visit. Repeatedly. Pros: pizza, atmosphere Cons: cramped quarters more

Great Food 2/28/2009

I went there on a weekend about 2 weeks ago, and had to wait for a table(15 minutes, not bad). Had a great antipasto salad to start, then me and my date shared an eggplant lasagna and pizza. WOW... We no longer need to go in the city for real Italian food. Pizza is truely unique and a treat, my server informed me that they had won some TV contest on CLTV. The lasagna was light and fresh, definetly not frozen, like a lot of other places. I would recommend it to all!! Pros: Pizza and Lasagna Cons: Parking is tight more

Amazing food! 2/26/2009

Had heard about this place but never tried it so on a Saturday night we decided to head over to Louisa's . Got there about 7 the place was packed we did get seated within 15 minutes. We had a nice corner booth in the first room. We ordered a pizza and a Lasagna . We got salad and bread first then they brought out the Lasagna . Took one bit and I wanted to eat the whole order and not share. It was excellent. Next came our pizza we ordered a cheese sausage mushroom pie. I took one bite and said to my husband we have been missing out by not ever coming here. The pizza was delicious. Staff was very friendly, the owners seemed nice or the manager was very nice. I didn't see to many pictures around, I did read the reviews before we went there. It seems like a really nice small family owned Italian Restaurant , that the family still after all these years. We had read on the back of the menu that they have been there for 27 years. After I was done and went t get up to leave I went up to the lady that seated us and asked her if she was family she said yes she was very pleasant , we told her it was our first time and how wonderful everything was. She asked us what we ordered and was just nice. She explained that it is family they are there everyday they cook and you can definetly tell by the food quality it shows that they care about what they serve because her daughter was sitting at the table next to us eating . Highly Recommended Pros: excellent pizza and pasta Cons: might have to wait for a table more

Love the Place 2/26/2009

We have been regular customers for the last 15 years and love going there. Family is very friendly and fun to talk to. The food is outstanding love the cheese and spinach pizza. It is so nice to see a establishment that the people that own the retaurant oversee everything . And the family is always eating the food themselves. more

Louisa's Restaurant ( Skip It) 1/18/2009

owners are very unfriendly. Staff is just ""ok"" I can't believe that the waitress have to make their own drinks because there is no bartenders. Salad is very blah and bland and nothing to it except white onions. Who puts white onions on a salad? Too cheap to buy red. No bread with salad. Went during Christmas time figureing there would be nice decorations. One lighted thing in a window, their regular old white lights around the bar and a blue colored old lighted christmas tree picture. the ""kicker"" was we saw a little ""old man"" at the bar with his head down on the bar asleep. We asked the waitress what that was all about and she said ""that is Louisa, she is tired."" Well Louisa, go home and go to sleep, you looked riduculous. Also witnessed a waitress getting ""bawled out "" in the kitchen very loudly by the owners. Their pizza is very good but not the best I've had. Will order out if necessary and avoid the the rude unfriendly owners of this joint. Also, getting sick of looking at hundreds of pictures of family members. Who cares ! Pros: Good Pizza Cons: If I'm giving them my business why are they rude ? more

Great pizza - Lousy attitude 11/10/2008

The Pizza is FANTASTIC. The service 'ok' at best. The servers seem to reflect the attitude of the owners - 'who cares'. The family that owns the place (always 4-5 of them) are a constant source of entertainment for us. They lounge around the bar - never attempt lift a finger to help .... bus a table, refill a drink, ask about your experience etc. It appears that they are there just to watch the cash register. Despite our friendly attitude, after 20 years of going there about 2-3 times a week, they act like we are complete strangers. When I ONCE commented that the pizza that night was a bit undercooked, the Louisa's grandson seemed annoyed. more

Wort service ever 9/21/2008

I recently had a family event at Louisa's pizza. My grandmother and I were waiting for my uncle and they would not seat us until my uncle arrived. My grandma is 82 and suffered a stroke and they made her stand for about 15 minutes. Anyone in their right mind would be considerate and respectful of the elderly. Not at this place. My grandma said she doesn't want to go back there because she's afraid she'll have to stand.\r Cons: Bad customer service more

Louisa De Genero opened her restaurant in 1981, and the decor of faux brick walls with strips of mirror has remained much the same since. Family photos are propped along the back...
