Best Steak/Ribs/Seafood 3/22/2011

Where do I start? Every time I step into the place I am even more impressed. From great food, to great service, to great drinks. Even the owner George stopped by the table to make sure my experience was perfect. (which it was) I started off by just "trying" the restaurant with my girlfriend to see if it was any good. She will tell you when the food is bad. Next thing I know the servers know us by name, and we go for dinner about every two weeks. Need I say she was impressed. Not to mention, we tried the brunch last week....what can I say, omelets and prime rib...awesome! If you are looking for a dinner, go somewhere else, but if you are looking for a great dinner along with a great dining experience, go to Louis'. We do! Mike Mal - Clinton Twp more

OMG 11/28/2010

My wife and I went to dinner at Louis' Saturday night and between the food and the amazing service I will be telling everyone about this place. We were sitted in the lounge area and we had arrived earlier then our reservation and were sitted and to follow up with our dinner they had a piano player that did an outstanding job. Great job to the entire staff and especial our waiter. more

Steak, Fish, Au Gratin Potatoes...OH MY 2/13/2010

First off, the owners are the same ones that owned the old Rivera's restaurant that use to be on the N/W corner of 10 mile and Gratiot. Those in the know will remember that they had the best fish and chips on the eastside and every Friday people were lined up outside the door to get some. Well, the current place has the same recipe and that brought us to Louis' the first time. The fish and chips were excellent but not as good as I remember them from 10 and Gratiot...maybe because the pieces were smaller and more crispy back then. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have eaten at fine steak houses like Chris Ruth's (very good), Don Shulas (yuck) and others in that class and IMHO I think Louis' is just as good if not better. I usually get the 16 ounce rib eye with zip sauce and I've never tasted any better. It has always been cooked to my liking (medium/medium well). The service has always been adequate to excellent. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We ate there last night. It was our 5th time going there. I had the lemon rice soup which was better than any I've ever eaten in Greek Town. And something I found out...all their salad dressing and desserts are made in house. They had a fish special last night, Mahi Mahi with a blueberry/raspberry sauce that, honestly, was one of the best fish dishes we've ever eaten....when in Florida we eat fish every day but none compared to what we had last night in Michigan...a grand slam home run. I also had the other special, a bone in "prime grade" filet mignon that was done perfectly (medium) I and didn't need a knife to cut it (butter soft). I usually get a baked potato but last night for some reason I ordered the Au Gratin potatoes....OH MY. I will never order another baked potato there again...believe me on this one folks. My better half is on one of those no potato/rice diets and follows it religiously and she ate half my order. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bottom line, they've got some really good things going on there. And I can't wait to go back. more

not recommend 9/15/2009

The $27 steak I had made me sick and the others we were dining with all got sick too. I just do not know how "aged" the meat was. more

Not the Usual 8/2/2009

I have dined at Louis' a few times in the past, and the food was always stellar. Went there on Friday for dinner with family and was extremely disappointed. It took me a while to decide what to eat, decided on my usual Honey Walnut Pork Chop with a salad with Bleu Cheese Dressing, they were OUT of Bleu Cheese Dressing. Waiter came out a few minutes later to tell me that they were OUT of pork chops. Ordered a glass of wine in the mean time, and the waiter forgot to bring it to me, I reminded him as he was clearing all of the unused wine glasses off the table after dinner was served as he says 'Oh Crap, you wanted a glass of wine'. Decided on the Steak Salad, then was served a side house salad before my meal salad, which I refused, I like salad and all, but not for my appetizer and my meal. My husband orded the Garlic Mashed Potatoes and they were OUT of them. After discussing each incident with the managers (which one just walked away while I was talking to them) all they could say was....oh, sorry. So all I can say is I will not be attending Louis' again, nor will I be recommending them to anyone, not because of the fact that they didn't have anything, but because of the way the management handled the situation, which is a shame, because they were one of the few recommendable restaurants left in the area. more

Louis' Chop House 4/6/2006

The best steak in town! It will melt in your mouth. Louis' Chop House doesn't look like much from the outside, but it is beautifully decorated on the inside. The warm atmosphere is right for almost any occasion for dining out. The food is always fantastic, no matter what you order from the menu. The Sunday brunch is to die for and the cost is very reasonable. Louis' is a great place to host a party too. The service is always impeccable. more

My family has used Louis Chop House for a few showers in the last couple years.. first off, it's a great restaurant with amazing food (the steak is to die for).. we recently had my sisters baby shower here, the prices for showers are very reasonable compared to other places in the area.. the service was great during all the showers and the food was always delicious, so many guest commented on how good the food was.. it's a very nice place and can accommodate good sized showers/banquets.. I would HIGHLY recommend Louis.. more

Loui's - Great place to have a steak! 8/17/2005

Loui's Chop House is an amazing place to have dinner, there food is so delicious. The first time I went I had the Detroiter (steak) and I fell in love, it was so good. Not only is the steak good but so is everything else, and they have amazing bread! I liked the place so much I decided to have my baby shower there. I was completely satisfied with how things turned out, the staff was friendly and gave us proper service, the room was set up nicely and the food was great! The restaurant is set up to look very classy and high class but the prices are as normal steak houses. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves a good steak! more
