I would have given Loui's a three star rating for a good burger but the two five star reviews needed some serious balancing. Obviously written by overzealous owners, managers, friends of the family or such, you simply cannot give a five star DINING rating to a hamburger joint, fast food hut or ice cream parlor. Really folks, get serious if you are going to take time to write a review! more

Because there are often children lurking around, we felt that 5 stars was too many. On Sunday mornings though....bacon and booze fixes all. And steak. And bagels with salmon. And chicken fried steak. You're hot. more

Louie M's is an Omaha institution. Their forte, of course are burgers. Large 1/3-pound hand-patted burgers available in a variety of styles. Due to the burger's girth, don't be surprised if the inside is a bit pink...if this troubles you I'd definitely mention it when ordering. Baskets of thin-cut fries are huge and also come in the cheese or chili-cheese variety. For a real treat try the Chili Cheeseburger - this monster is served open faced: a bun half on either side of the plate, the big hamburger slapped in the middle, a big pile of chili over everything, a scattering of cheese and then a whisper of onions...ahhh heavenly. Nice selection of hot sauces on the tables, too. Many other sandwich/grill selections are available for the non-burger types, breakfast is also served all day. Be careful of the hours. I believe they are open like 10am-3pm during the week and also (starting just over a year ago) they are open in the evenings on Friday and Saturday with a less burger-centric menu available. If the hours are a problem there is a location out in Papillion - but it just ain't the same. more

Louie M's Burger Lust is the home of the Best Burger in Omaha! It is not a fancy place, really just a dive in South Omaha, but the menu features over 20 really excellent burgers. My favorite is the bacon swiss mushroom burger, but there are many other varieties, including a guacamole burger and a taco burger. The fries come in orders big enough to share, and they also serve up a fantastic milkshake! The prices are very reasonable, and you will NOT go away hungry or disappointed! A definite Omaha Classic! more
