Best Fish-n-Chips 1/23/2012

Coming here from Europe it was hard to find a good fish-n-chips spot.\r I have been coming back for years. The Seafood is always fresh and delicious.\r \r I cant believe some of the other reviews. I have never been dissapointed here. To each there own, I presume.\r \r I recently tried some of their sushimi. I never eat raw fish outside of a few reputable japanese retaurants I know if but this was right up there. \r \r My biggest problem now is deciding what to order! \r more

Instead, try Woodhaven House across the street 11/6/2011

USED to like London Lennie's until my friend and I attempted to have dinner there last night. We were served our drinks and subsequently the mini loaf of bread. After we both ate a small portion of the loaf, I noticed a baby roach taking a stroll on the board on which the bread was served. I told the waitress, who just suggested we move to another table (NO APOLOGY). We moved to the table right in front of us and a few minutes later two busboys proceeded to clean up the table we had just vacated (with the dead roach still on it). I asked them not to clean up yet as I wanted the Manager to see the roach. The manager came over ,apologized very matter of factly, and just walked away. Immediately after another waitress came over to our table and asked if we were ready to order. We decided to leave and told her we would just finish our drinks and go. The manager then returned and gave us our drinks on the house with another half-hearted apology. So it wasn't until after he was told that we were leaving that he decided to comp us for the drinks !! UNBELIEVABLE !! If you want REALLY good seafood and excellent service (which London Lennie's does not provide) go across the street to Woodhaven House. I had a salmon dish that was just as good if not better than anything I've ever had at London Lennie's and the wait staff was extremely courteous and attentive. Poor managment at London Lennie's..will NEVER go back. more

Worst Experience In Many Years!!! 5/2/2011

First and foremost the service was horrible. The hostess has no business being one. She doesn't have a clue on how to be a hostess. I was there just last Saturday. I had to repeat myself to her several times before she even acknowledged me. She rudely said 45 minutes and nothing else as if it pained her to utter words to customers. She didn't offer for myself and my wife to have a drink at the bar or even picked her eyes off the book in front of her. We walked over to the Woodhaven House across the street to have a drink and wait for our table (they were very friendly. I'll return there and have dinner). When we went back to Lennie's the horrible hostess rudely stated that she called my name 20 minutes ago yet she couldn't even remember what it was. She then told us to wait again and just as we were leaving the manager came over to seat us. Even though we tried to salvage the evening we never saw the waiter again after he took our order. I walked over to the waiters station and announced we were leaving. He then hands me a bill for $123 (mind you we hadn't been served dinner yet). I was so upset I told him I wasn't paying it and he didn't react. I guess this happens often. We were so upset we left without touching the food they had the nerve to bring out an hour after we ordered it, just as we were leaving. The food looked cold and very dry. We didn't touch it yet they still charged my credit card (which I am disputing). I called the management today and spoke to Mark. He claimed that if we had a bad time it was our fault (my wife and I) not the restaurants fault. Since they brought out food, they held there end of the deal and he wouldn't remove the false charges for the bad service. Absolutely the worse experience I've had in a restaurant in many years. more

Good food horrible attitude 2/21/2010

This restaurant is in a bad need of attitude adjustment. We had a dinner reservation for seven. Five arrived on time, but two got stuck in traffic. Hostess refused to seat us till the entire party arrived. Five of us stood there for 30 min, even though our table was ready and there were several open tables. It was pure insanity! We could have spent $200 on drinks and appetizers at the table while waiting for our friends. We could have been be happy, but had to stand around hungry instead. The hostess was rude, too. Kept repeating ""this is our policy"" and was imprevious to any logic. The seafood was fine: we had scallops, seabass, branzini and catfish - all good. Coleslaw was excellent. But the creamed spinach was bad and creme brule tasted funny. In my order of strawberries, two were rotten. Pros: Good seafood Cons: Abnoxious hosess, bad seatting policy, lack of concern for c more

Very decent seafood 1/14/2009

""I ate here for the 1st time with my boyfriend and his mother last Saturday night. The weather was lousy and we got there at 5pm so it wasn't crazy-busy yet, which, from what I've heard, is a smart time to go for dinner. The service was very attentive, no problems there. We had the shrimp cocktail appetizers which were so fresh. The shrimp was huge and really good, I highly recommend it. I had the Mahi-Mah dish and the fish was so tender and delicious, along with the pineapple salsa and shoestring sweet potato fries. The problem with this dish is that they say it's citrus glazed and it was not, it was smothered in what tasted like bottled Kraft barbeque sauce! What a mistake to do that to the fish, they should've just put the pineapple salsa on top or along side it, that would've been fine, but the bbq sauce ruined it, so that was disappointing and I was surprised they did that. Otherwise, the other dishes we had were excellent-- the stuffed whole flounder and crusted red snapper dishes. The blueberry crisp for dessert was good enough, not great. I would definitely go back again and try other things, but I wouldn't get that Mahi-Mahi dish. It was a little pricey, not hugely over the top for what you get. The portions are big and it's very good quality over all."" Pros: Good food, good service Cons: Gets very busy if you don't go early more

Horrible Seafood 8/3/2008

We went for dinner after a few friends recommended the place. The food was not good, I had the seafood sampler that had no taste what so ever. The shrimp was tough and the fish did not taste fresh. \r \r Would not recommended this place; a waste of $60.00. Cons: the whole restaurant more

LIARS 7/10/2008

Their waiter spilled food on my expensive new leather jacket. The manager, Santiago, told me they would paid the cleaning bill. It's $350 for a leather cleaner and now they won't won't return my calls!\r Think I'm gonna go back?\r Would you? more

Avoid (dirty restaurant) 1/31/2008

Last Saturday, January 26, 2008, I came with my mom, sister and future mother in law on her birthday celebration. We were looking forward to have a good time, but unfortunately we had a terrible experience with food and service. When we arrived to the restaurant they gave us a bad table. The first thing I noticed was a strange looking insect on the wall next to the table. We requested a change of location and preceded to go to the next table without making a scene so that my mother in law wouldn't noticed anything. When the food was brought up I noticed a hair on one of my bake clams. Once again I kept quite because I didn't want to ruin what was supposed to be a good time. At the end of the night all waiters sang the happy birthday song without any previous request (my mother in law does not like the happy birthday to be sang to her). The owner offered a discount for all the inconveniences. To our surprise no discount was included and the owner left without any explanation...! What a horrible night. I do not recommend this restaurant to anybody. more

Best Clam Chowder across the US 1/23/2008

Lenny's Classic Seafood 7/13/2006

Lenny's has been around for a LONG time. It's been good for a LONG time. Now, with the maturing pallet of NYers, its nice to see that they are incorporating some new tastes into their menu. Wasabi/Ginger reductions, Jicma Slaw with citrus chili sauce, etc make for new twists on some old favorites. The fish is still tremendously fresh and is for retail sale if desired. The service is not quite City quality, but then again you're at Lenny's because you don't want City service. Prices are reasonable, but can get high with drinks and dessert. Otherwise, Lenny's is still a great dinner spot with me and my family. Pros: Fish Cons: Loud, no parking(except Valet) more

Gotta give this one a try! 7/8/2005

So I was looking for a quality eat in the Rego Park area after nine and didn't feel like a bar. We popped into this place 25 minutes before they closed and they served us with a smile! The food was fast and sooo yummy! The portions are not gigantic, but with the fresh bread and side of colesalw, I left feeling satisfied. I would definately recommend this place for a small celebration, with the high prices this is probably not an everday kind of place. Menu was full of fresh and classic seafood choices - something here for everyone! Pros: nice staff, good menu, quality eats Cons: felt cramped, pricey more

Oh my goodness! 1/23/2003

Worth the trip! Easy to get to, click the map and get directions. about 4 miles from manhattan. The fish, the amazing fresh fish is so fresh, and so good. This is a classic, fish restaurant. The prices are not cheap, but it;s all worth it for the quality of food you get. more
