The town of Mt. Vernon is the perfect setting for this unique outting. We started next door to the restaurant at the winery. We purchased a bottle of Kung Fu Girl Riesling and took it with us to the restaurant...wonderful! They don't serve alcohol but encourage customers to bring their own. There is a $10 corking fee unless you buy it at the winery next door. We started with a very unique appetizer - chicken skewers flavored with a Thai peanut sauce that was delicious enough to be the main course. We were surprised to find a limitted entree menu. Matthew loved the choices... quail/duck, salmon, or elk with an assortment of interesting sides. I wasn't brave enough to try any of those choices and ordered from the standard menu... I chose a salad but was tempted by a cheeseburger. After tasting Matthew's elk, I knew I'd made a mistake. It was tremendous and not too much unlike beef steak. Remember this is a cafe so it isn't fancy or super formal. However, we promise you... the conversation will flow! There is so much more to say but we want to leave an element of surprise:) Enjoy!
Pros: unique menu, BYOW, great value
Cons: a drive to the small town of Mt Vernon
