Wonderful food, fast and friendly. Love the La

Worst

I have eaten at this restaurant twice now and on both occasions have found the food to be either tasteless or simply salty...

BEST IN COLORADO 11/17/2008

We've been going to La Casa Del Rey since we were kids. Now that we have a family of our own we value that we can treat our kids to a wounderful dinner there. We always have great, exceptional service from all that work there. We enjoy the fast, friendly service, as well as THEIR AWSOME FOOD. It's always hot, fresh and tasty.I recommend that you join them on Friday and Saturday nlghts for some marichi music... Their Fantastic... Hope to see new people there... Pros: Alway's Delicous, Hot, and tasty. Cons: There is none more

GREAT FOOD!!!! 11/17/2008

La Casa Del Rey has the best and most AUTHENTIC Mexican food I have came across yet! I have been to several other Mexican Restaraunts in Commerce City as I own a business and none compare! The food is always spicy and tasty, the service is excellent and friendly, the atmostphere is very pleasant. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. They offer specials, free meals for birthdays, and senior discounts (which I love and appreciate). Pros: Excellent spicy food at a reasonable prices...Cons: Haven't had a bad experience yet. !! I will continue to be a customer at La Casa for years to come.. more

Consistantly Good! 11/17/2008

I am a school teacher in commerce city and one of the things I look forward to is an occasional lunch with co-workers at La Casa Del Rey. I have been eating there for over 20 yrs and I am amazed that they have been able to maintain a high level of consistency. As a former resident I watched this restaurant from its start and have seen it grow into a commerce city landmark . There is no question that the Atencio family is very proud of there restaurant and that is demonstrated in there food and by there staff. The one thing that people don't know is the how much the restaurant has given back to many people in and out of commerce city in fact I was approached about setting up some scholarships for vocational students and they give discounts for Commerce City school district employees. In today's world of everything being overpriced this is one restaurant that has worked hard to keep there prices, food quality, and portions balanced with the economy. On top of all that they are still generous and haven't lost touch with there roots and how they started. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Pros: Great Food, Great Service Cons: You might have to wait in line. more

Too salty, very stingy (won't throw in free chips for a to-to order over $60) and obviously did not appreciate repeat business. OVERRATED to the extreme. 11/13/2008

I work in Commerce City at a school where we spend money here monthly or even weekly. There is no gratitude and management would not throw in chips and salsa for an order that was over $60. This is a pretty poor choice on their part. Further, I reluctantly went there after this episode and waited over an hour for our food, when we finally had to get it to go. Has anyone heard, ""The customer is always right?"" Hello? I will never spend another dime on their overpriced, salty, average run-of-the-mill Mexican food. more

bad environment 10/2/2008

THIS WAS OUR SPOT 3-4 TIMES A WEEK!! HAVEN'T BEEN IN FOR A LONG TIME DUE TO A FAMILY ILLNESS. WE WENT IN THE OTHER NIGHT AND WERE SURPRISED HOW MUCH EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED EVEN THE FOH WORKERS. FOOD IS NOT THE SAME. IT TASTES REAL DIFFERENT NOW. BUT WHEN I ASKED ABOUT THE PEOPLE THAT USE TO WORK THERE ( WHICH ARE THE ONES THAT ACTUALLY CARED ABOUT US CUSTOMERS) THE LADY AT THE FRONT HAD NOTHING NICE TO SAY ABOUT THEM. I THOUGHT IT WAS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. BECAUSE OF THIS WERE GONNA HAVE TO FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO GO.. : ( Pros: if you bring back the best Cons: food and service is missing those special smiles... more

Pros: great green chile, nice waitstaff, cold beer! more

Best Mexican food in Colorado 7/7/2008

I love Mexican food and hands down if you want Mexican food like your Mother's or Grandmother's you need to go to La Casa Del Rey! My family has been going there since it opened and to this day I cannot find another place that has better green chile! The green chile has amazing flavor and can be as hot or mild as you like. My personal favorites are the Mexican steak breakfast and the stuffed sopapilla with chicharrone. The food is served hot, the cervesa is cold and the wait staff is friendly and attentive. Pros: Welcoming atmosphere and Great Food! more

It's not the same.......... 6/15/2008

My family and I have been going into this restaurant since i was a little kid. I then started taking my own family here because of how much we loved the food and service. The food always came out hot and served with a friendly smile. We would only go on certain days cause we knew our favorite staff was working and we always knew when not to go because our favorite person wasn't there. We went about a month ago.. and ITS NOT THE SAME!! : ( I don't know if its under new ownership or management but the new waitstaff and the loud hyper cashier is terrible. We miss all of the people who aren't there anymore!! ITS NOT THE SAME WITHOUT YOU HERE!! PLEASE COME BACK!! Cons: THE CHANGES THAT TOOK PLACE.. IT WAS BETTER BEFORE!! more

Excellent and Authentic 4/11/2008

My family visits La Casa del Rey every time we travel to the Denver area. The authentic, reasonably priced food (always more than we can eat!) leaves us wanting to return time & time again. Each time we visit we find new (and delicious) items on the menu. Keep up the good work, LaCasa. Visit...and share the word. You won't be disappointed. Pros: Quality & Price more

Best Green Chili!!!! 3/21/2008

The best green chili in the state. Their Mexican steak breakfast is highly recommended and their service is consistently good. They really should consider franchising into different areas of the city. Pros: Consistency on their food ( always good) Cons: Location more

Best smothered burritos in town! 2/7/2008

We are out of town travelers, but when we are in the area, we always stop to eat. This is a quaint family owned restaurant that provides outstanding service, superior food, at a reasonable price. more

Green Chili 1/22/2008

This place was awesome! I've been looking for the best green chili in town and now I know where it is. I've been to the majority of the restaurants listed on City Search but this is hands down the place to go. If you are a true green chili connoisseur like I am you don't want to miss LA CASA DEL REY! Pros: DEFINATELY THE FOOD Cons: PARKING AT TIMES more

Salsa 7/27/2006

The salsa must be made fresh several times per day as it's always spicy and delicious and fresh. All of the dishes here are really very good. There is something for everyone as the green chili can be ordered from mild to really, really hot to satisfy all tastes. The portions are quite generous so if you can't finish your meal take home bags are of course provided as the food is great reheated as a snack or for lunch the next day. The atmosphere is family oriented and you always feel welcome. The manager and staff are so gracious and helpful and ready to please. The patio is great and can be used from May through October and sometimes even in the winter on a mild day. It gets very busy on Friday's and Saturday's so our family likes to go on Sunday afternoons. Pros: Great food! more

Great food all the time. 6/26/2006

Go North for Mexcian Food 8/27/2005

Go on Friday and Saturday for some terrific music to go with your meal. They serve breakfast thru dinner. Lots of great choices. Nothing I have tried is bad here. A very few things are ordinary but still not bad. This is on my list of to go to's. Pros: Service, Food, Price Cons: Location, Parking can be issue, Noisy more

Delicious Mexican Food & Best Shrimp Cocktail 2/22/2005

I crave the shrimp cocktail here often (like ceviche). It has giant shrimp and fresh avocado with cilantro in a sweet tomato-y soup (cold). The mix of flavors is incredible. Try a large shrimp cocktail with a pitcher of strawberry margaritas. Another one to try is the steak and avocado burrito. The rellenos are tasty and really spicy. I've had better salsa, but the positives outweigh the negatives by far. Pros: Awesome Food, Good parking, Serves liquor Cons: Salsa could improve more
