The staff was very nice and accommodating. He was recommended by my childhood dentist. I felt confident in his abilities and knowledge, from what I could tell anyway, but did not feel comfortable going to him for my extraction because I felt absurdly pressured into having general anesthesia for the procedure. I expressed hesitation about going under and he seemed to talk about it rather nonchalantly. I think this was probably his way of trying to calm me and reassure me, but it rather frightened me and upset me. He said local was not the way to go because you're awake and, depending on the person, it might not be enough to protect them from the excruciating pain of the procedure. My teeth were also impacted, which makes for a more complicated operation. He finished by telling me a story of a really large, athletic man who claimed to have a high threshold for pain, had local, and was crying during the procedure due to the pain. He said he had never had anyone that was happy with local. I also received that same general idea (no one likes local) from all doctors, but no other story was so dramatic. I understand general is probably mostly preferred by most patients and makes it easier on the doctor because they may not have to worry about the comfort of the patient as much, but I did not appreciate the apparent pressure. I would like all of the information and then I will make an informed decision. I felt, in a sense, it could have been a way to ""talk down"" or something.
Pros: Nice guy; seems completely competent.
Cons: Felt pressured into having general anasthesia. Little too dramatic bedside manner.
