The food was great. They did not update grubhub quickly so I was waiting outside for a good 5 minutes extra when the food is already ready inside. more

Mediocre Indian Food- Low-Grade Chicken 5/27/2011

I am not sure how this restaurant gets such good reviews. The food I have had at Kinara has been mediocre at best. The chicken is rubbery and fatty. The dishes are rather bland and the decor of the restaurant is strange. Their food is really cheap, especially for lunch if you take-out. They charge you around $8 for a huge portion of an entree and two sides from their buffet- that's why I used to eat their food. But the price definitely reflects the quality of the ingredients they use: CHEAP. more

excellent Indian cuisine and friendly, helpful staff. 3/10/2007

An outstanding experience for the uninitiated to Indian cuisine. We put ourselves at the waiters discretion with the stipulation of toning down the spices. We were introduced to excellent choices with a sampling of a large variety of dishes. Also the atmosphere was welcoming and very helpful. This ambience spread to the other diners who were friendly and pleasant. Each visit to the area includes dining at Kinara as a must!\r We have dined at Kinara's at least six times and have been treated like old friends and have not been disappointed . This review is from a South Carolinian who is not a world traveler but enjoys excellent food,\r friendly and open people,in a relaxed setting. R. Campion Pros: Helpful staff, excellent service and advice. more

Healthy Indian Food 3/6/2007

I have tried a lot of Indian Restaurants in NY, but Kinara stands out of the lot. Firstly the indian dish is adapted to the taste of local residents. Unlike all Indian restaurants which make use of huge amount of 'oil' and in their food, Kinara make use of minimum amount of oil which make the food healthier without compromising on taste. I would rate the service by the waiting staff to be 'caring and 'helpful'. They always go an extra mile to make a diners experience a special one. Since I am a regular diner at Kinara, I have come across a few Bollywood celebrities who I have spotted dining namely - Paresh Rawal ,Jagjit Singh and Subhash Ghai.\r So if you would like to enjoy a tasty Indian meal why not join the Bollywood celebrities who have already endorsed their favourite restaurant. Pros: Finger licking food and Service 'second to none' Cons: My brand new kitchen which I rarely use!! more

delicious! 3/6/2007

I am from NYC and I come over to kinara to eat whenever I want to go somewhere special and of course when I want truly authentic Indian cuisine. I know there are many good indian restaurants here in the city, but at kinara in Edgewater you feel so welcome and at home. From the decor in the main dining area which gives you a cozy old english/ irish pub feel to the owner who seems to always be there working effortlessly to make sure the food is to your liking and done the right way. This is something I don't see anymore in the restaurant business. You feel like you are someone important in this eating establishment. And the food is so, so very good, because the owner is there and is always improving on his food, which to me doesn't need an ounce of help. But it's great to see someone taking such pride in their business. I recommend everything on the menu! Pros: thumbs up all the way more

Just like home! 3/6/2007

I am orginally from India and I love food and know what's what when it comes to Indian cuisine. \r Anyhow, Kinara is the closest you get to home cooking! I just had to laugh at this last review, because obviously this person does not know Indian food. First of all this cuisine takes time to cook to blend the spices well. It's an artistic cuisine taking time to make it just right, which Kinara most definately accomplishes in every way. so if you're looking for fast food........go to Mcdonalds or Berger king. \r I've eaten in New York, California and really nothing satisfies me like Kinara which reminds of home.\r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r Pros: great food at a great price and a friendly atmosphere more

Yucky, Yuck, Yuck, Yuck!!!! 1/19/2007

One word: Yuck! I ordered take-out from Kinara, the food finally arrived after 2 hours. I called to check on the food, but they would just put me on hold and wouldn't give me any answers. After waiting so long, I was starving. Usually everything is good (at least decent) when I'm hungry. But, I can honestly say this was the worst food ever (not just worst Indian). It was overly spiced, but had no flavor. I'm not sure how they accomplished that, but they did. Overall, this is the worst experience I've had w/any restuarant ever (even counting one time a got sick from a meal). This was the worst service, worst food and longest wait. Do yourself a favor and never try this place unless you're a serious masochist. Pros: -------- Cons: Everything...Food, Service more
