Best little amusement park! 8/4/2008

I had never even heard of Kennywood until about a week ago when my boyfriend told me that we're going spend the weekend in PA going to Hershey Park and then Kennywood. We're from the Detroit area, so I wasn't sure if the drive would be entirely worth it. Although Kennywood is small, it has a lot of charm. I would recommend this place to anyone (and I probably will!). I was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly the roller coasters run and how thrilling they are to ride. My favorite would have to be the Thunderbolt. Also, Noah's Arc is a MUST. Its the most fun I've ever had in a fun house type setting. The people who run the park are very nice, and efficient. The rides also load relatively fast- even if the line LOOKS long, it generally wasn't a very long wait. \r \r Oh, and don't leave before trying the bacon cheddar fries from the potato patch!!!!! Pros: Fun rides, good food, clean restrooms, affordable, lots of shade Cons: I can't think of any more

Best place to spend summer 7/22/2008

This is a place that you simply MUST go to. Even though Cedar Point or Six Flags might have bigger, faster rollercoasters and more rides, Kennywood somehow captures your heart by some unknown force. I have been going my whole life, and i've seen the park grow and change, but still keep that family feeling alive. They have 3 wooden rollercoasters that are historic landmarks, which are Jackrabbit, Racer, and Thunderbolt. The Racer is the only single tracked racing coaster in America, and all of these coasters have been standing for at least 40 years or more. Other rides have historic backgrounds too. ""Auto Race"", is the only ride left of it's kind, and the Kennywood Railroad offers a tour of Kennywood through the years. But while maintaining that historic, family feeling, they also have new age rides that can thrill all types of thrill seekers. The Phantom's Revenge, boasts a 160 foot tall first hill, and a second hills of 230 feet, bringing riders to 82 mph. Pitt Fall, a 250 foot tall freefall ride, drops riders to a free falling speed of 65 mph. and plenty other rides reside at this park to get your heart racing. The food here is amazing, with the Potato Patch having some of the best fries nationwide, along with funnel cakes, corn dogs, and affordable drinks. If you are ever in Pittsburgh, you have to visit Kennywood. You will want to come back year after year. If you are from Pittsburgh, you already know what I'm talking about. Kennywood 4ever!!! Pros: Great rides, mouth watering food, nice, family atmosphere, convinient parking areas. Cons: Can't really think of any... more

Best Place to take the kids 2/14/2008

Well im only 19 and i have been going to kennywood since i was little. I love going to kennywood. for about 9 years in a row my family and i went to kennywood as a family tradition. Well one year we got kicked out but it was our own stupidity but anyways if you want to feel like a young person again you will go to kennywood. Its expensive but its worth going. Kennywood made me decide to become Amusement Park Authestisant (its spelled wrong i know). So once I am done with my college thats what I want to do. I love going watching the people and seeing old friends who i haven't seen in awhile. I hope this year my family and I will go once again. I love being a kid at kennywood. So try riding the ""green ride"" which is the Phantom's Revenage if you are afraid of roller coasters thats what got my roommate over that fear. So go to Kennywood this summer!!!! Pros: Parking is wonderful, food is great and you always have fun Cons: expensive more

The Best Amusement Park in the World. 6/25/2007

I have been to countless amusement parks around the world. From america and canada to europe, and the middle east last month (Qatar). I have never experienced a better amusement park anywhere. The atmosphere Kennywood is more magical than Disney World. Truthfully. Kennywood has some of the best riddes anywhere. The Phantom rocks, the Racers are the only single track racing coaster left, the double dip of the Jack Rabbit, and, well, everything about the THUNDERBOLT (the best ride anywhere, period) The food by itself is worth the trip. PATATO PATCH FRIES are the best anywhere. I remember going with my grandmother to the park and hearing her stories of her favorite rides. Also of where she met my grandfather. I had my first kiss in Kennywood. The park is the cleanest I've ever been too as well. Being away from Pa, it brings tears of joy to my eye to think of Kennywood and all the fond memories that it has brought to me through the years. I truley miss Kennywood. THE WORLD'S FINEST TRADITIONAL AMUSEMENT PARK. Six flags and Cedar Point are small potatoes that quiver in the shadow of this small Pennsylvania park. Long Live Kennywood! Pros: Atmosphere, Rides, Food, Memories, Clean, Safe, Friendly - If it rains and the rides are shut down for 2 hours, you can get a refund. Six Flags would never do that. Cons: HA! more

Potato Patch french fries, Funnel cakes, and corn dogs!!!! Must have foods!! 7/14/2006

I've lived in Pittsburgh my whole entire life. Kennywood is a huge part in it. It really doesn't matter how old you are because there seems to be something for everyone to do. When you are a little kid they have a place in the park JUST FOR YOU! When you are a little older you have bigger and better rides like the Thunderbolt which is still my personal favorite even thought the phantoms revenge is right up there with it (although I'm still a little mad they took the loops out) plus there is an arcade you can visit while you're trying to settle your stomach after all the coaster riding you do. They have nice picnic areas for the older crowd that just like to hang out with their family and friends all day. I've gone to Kennywood since I was a child and now I have children of my own that will start the process all over again. I forgot to mention not only are they open in the summer but they reopen around Halloween!!!! Another great time to go. VISIT HAUNTED KENNYWOOD YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!! It's worth the trip and it's reasonable. Pros: Fun for everyone, Great food, just an all out awesome experience! Cons: A little expensive (But what isn't now a days, ) Some long lines (depending on the time of year.) more

Kennywood Extreme! 5/4/2006

Kennywood has its up's and its down's but mainly up's. Kennywood is a must for anyone who enjoys a old fashioned amusement park. Not only is Kennywood one of america's finest traditional amusement parks, it is a tradition for many families in the U.S. I go to Kennywood two times a year at least and every year there is something new offered. Just going to the park and walking around will give you a smile on your face when you walk through the tunnel at the end of the day. The scenery is amazing with alot of flowers and trees. The rides are very unique, you will never ride a rollercoaster similar to any of Kennywoods. I highly recommend this park to anyone!!! Pros: Food, Rides, Value more

A True Born Kennywood-ee 8/12/2005

I have grown up about 35 minutes outside of Pittsburgh, and going to Kennywood has been one of the many traditions my family has had every summer. It is truly a wonderful place. I've been to many other amusement parks, but nothing like Kennywood. It is very clean, and the staff is friendly. It's never overly crowded, and there is enough to do, but not too much where you feel like you cant do everything you want to do in one day. There is lots of shady areas, and seating available thoughout the park. (oh, and the french fries are excellent!) It also has a childrens area, and a trolly that my grandmother always enjoys. Its a great place to visit, that always meets my expectations every year. Pros: seating, food, worth the money more

Kennywood 8/11/2005

This is a good regional admusement park. But I would not put them in the same field as Cedar Point or Disney. My family and I made special vacation plans to stop last week. We had planned on spending 2 days but after 4 hours there we left and didn't come back. The park is very small park with a total of 36 rides. I don't know why other people would highly recommand this park. more

Kennywood's Open :) 8/11/2005

For those of you that grew up anywhere near Pittsburgh you know what it means when someone looks at you and says Kennywoods Open (your zipper is open). I went to Kennywood Park countless times growing up. I now live in New Mexico. Ive been to parks all over and have never been to one with the same charm. I would not say that Kennywood Park alone is worth round trip tickets for the whole family. However, if you are anywhere near the area or you are an amusement park enthusiast you should make it a point to visit there. You will see why there are so many sentimental reviews written about the place. It is a place frozen in time but with some new things mixed in. Pros: Old School Charm, Very well kept, Rides for all ages Cons: not many other things, in the area more

By Far The BEST Place to go!!! 8/11/2005

I used to go to Kennywood at least 4 times a year. It was nothing for me to drive from Johnstown and head on down to Pittsburgh! For anyone who hasn't visited Kennywood yet and plan to do so...you have to get the Potato Patch Fries!! It's a must. And ride each rollercoaster at least 3 times before you leave! This park is super clean too! Always a bonus!! I just absolutely love Kennywood. Pros: Food, Price, Rides more

Memories, past, present and future! 7/13/2005

I, too, have alot of memories of Kennywood. And though I now live in Seattle, Wa, I have taken my daughter there and hope to someday take my grandkids, too. more

Love Kennywood! 7/12/2005

I grew up in Western PA and lvoed going to Kennywood. Now I live 900 miles away and have children of my own and we make the trip every summer to Pittsburgh and we have to go to Kennywood. even for those that don't ride, the food is great and it is a great place to relax and people watch. We took my children to a Mexican vacation last summer and all they could talk about was making sure that they would not miss Kennywood. It is a great park. Great for the family! Pros: Clean, food more

Home Sweet Home 7/12/2005

Having lived in Houston, Tx for the past 15 years, I go home to PA every other year with my daughter. Her first roller coaster was the Jack Rabbit, as was mine. Most of her first rides have been at Kennywood and I plan on coming back. This park has so many great memories, along with family traditions. I still get weird looks when I put vinegar on my french fries. Kennywood is a relaxing, beautiful park with great tree lined walkways. The smells and tastes are the best - real corndogs, funnel cakes, and of course the best French Fries in the country. Pros: Inexpensive, Family Traditions, Great Memories Cons: to far from away more

Thunderbolt is a must ride coaster 6/19/2005

Every year my highschool would take a field trip to Kennywood, it was the most looking forward to field trip ever! more

Wonderful! 6/19/2005

Kennywood is a wonderful family place to go. Its historical and fun for both young and old. I have fond memories going there as a kid. I cant wait to take my kids there someday! more

A Time Capsule Of A Park 5/13/2005

Kennywood is a park that I frequented as a kid living in Pittsburgh. Now after having my own twin boys (living in San Fran, CA), I've taken them to see Oma and then the park. They had a blast on the coasters, the log ride, and the amusements. Even the turnpike still has the charm it did when I was a kid. The grounds are still well kept and the park still has the same feel it did then. I recommend it for young and old. more

Great Value and good folks 5/13/2005

I grew up going to Kennywood during yearly school picnics. The Noah's Ark was always a high point. It is still well maintained and the rollercoasters cant be beat. Cost wise it is still a bargin. And there aren't all those stores with the Disney hats, etc. more

Still Awsome after all these years 5/8/2005

The first time I was at KP I was 4. Now, some 30 years later, the park is still as wonderful and as much fun now as it was then. If you get a chance to go to Kennywood, GO! You won't regret it. Pros: price, rides and games, safety more

Tons of Fun & Beautiful surroundings 5/7/2005

Kennywood has something for everyone (from roller coasters to kiddie land rides to shows for those who don't ride), quick lines, great potato patch fries & other foods & a beautiful landscaping. They have picnic areas for those who would like to bring their own foods. I would highly recommend a visit for yourself. :) Pros: Variety of Rides, Clean Bathrooms, Quick Lines Cons: No walk-in admission more
