Tried to visit 9/18/09, and only found a karate studio at 50 Merrimac Rd. Tried calling the number today, and it's been disconnected. : (

Great sushi! 3/18/2008

Kayo has the best sushi in the area, and while it appears at face value to be on the pricey side, you get more of it for your money than anywhere else I've been, including larger cities. It's worth the wait (which can be about an hour -- don't order sushi if you're on a schedule) for the generous, freshly prepared portions. The wait staff is generally very good, and apologetic if there's a long wait. Definitely recommended. Pros: Great food, value and service. Cons: Long waits depending on what you order. more

An out of the way place if you're fed up with chain restaurants 8/2/2006

Had it with the corny Kabuki-type places and their flashy knife acts? This place has real food, not the mass-produced stuff. Don't be put off by Kayo's humble location in a dingy strip mall.\r \r We went early on a quiet evening, didn't order sushi (following the advice of other reviewers) and found the service to be delightful. C.J., our server, was helpful, knowledgeable, and gracious. Perhaps on busier nights, there is not enough wait staff?\r \r Our shrimp and eggplant hot plate was delicous and perfectly prepared. Dessert, chocolate-ginger ice cream (apparently home-made) was a taste adventure. Perhaps a little too adventurous for some of us, but interesting.\r \r Give it a try! more

Authentic Japanese Cuisine 4/20/2004

If you go to Kayo, and you should, don't stick to just sushi. I lived in Japan for a year, and there are many other types of food the Japanese enjoy. Kayo serves them all. Your best bet to deal with the wait caused by having a single sushi chef at this family-run restaurant is to order a sushi appetizer, followed by a meal from the kitchen. Pros: Authentic Cuisine, Good Variety, Excellent Desserts more

Kayo dinning 2/18/2004

the sushi is really good, beautifull prepared and tasty. However, suffering through the service may not make it worth it for everyone. If you are in any sort of a time crunch, you might want to try elsewhere. Pros: beautiful sushi Cons: , pricey more
