Editorial review from Citysearch 9/5/2012

I stopped by yesterday and saw they had a pathetic range of pets. I want to report them. Their tanks are filthy, most of the water dishes were dry, there was a thick layer of dust on everything! There was a tank with two baby tortoises in it and all they had was a heat lamp and a paper towel that you could tell was once wet. NOTHING ELSE. No food or water or substrate. They had a green tree python for $250 and it looked extremely unhealthy. It's skin was loose and he looked almost dead. I asked if they were hiring or if I could just volunteer to come in and take care of the tanks and animals but they said no because they have had a bad experience with volunteers. Everyone should do their best to report and force this store to fix their actions. more

YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED 1/12/2012

My fiancee has been going to Kasch's for about six years and me for just the last three. Bruce and his son are extremely knowledgeable. They have great prices and know a lot about every animal in there. We have gotten two snakes from him and he's always given us a great deal. I understand with that many reptiles, mice, and crickets it's hard to keep it really clean. I have my two snakes it's hard sometimes keeping everything as clean as I'd like. But I feel they do a really good job. I refer all my friends and family there that are looking for any information on reptiles, to purchase a reptile or supplies, or just want to go in for a view of some interesting pets. Hey guys, keep up the good work & don't let the bad reviews bring you down. You'll always be number one in our books. You are very professional and we enjoy coming in for a visit. more

This is a great place to buy reptiles 4/4/2010

The lady that said the place was horrendous is a freakin moron and an idiot as well as some other choice things I cant say on here. The reptiles are kept in very good condition they do have some skin from shedding but reptiles shed what a suprise. The mice are food and they are kept better then would be kept at a breeder who produces mass quanities of them they have food and water and the cages are clean they are not living there for very long so get over it lady go join PETA you probly dont eat meat either. Then dead spider died during shipping a long time ago and they put it on display to show how large that spider can get to educate customers that want to have one for a pet how big it is going to get. I have twelve snakes I have purchased from there all are healthy and I have never had any issues health wise with them so mabey this lady should do her research before bad mouthing peoples bussiness . Animal Control has in fact been there recently and reported that the store was in complience I have been to places like petco and petsmart where rodents as well as reptiles and birds have had no water or food or otherwise looked sick their mice are kept 75 to one cage and snakes and reptiles kept in inclouseres way to small for them. This lady is a moron what else can I say I would recommend this store to anyone looking to purchase reptiles it is a great store. Pros: Very healthy reptiles helpful staff more

This place is horrendious!!!!!! 3/11/2010

Okay. I went into this place with an open mind after my sister tells me how horrible the mice are kept. When I went in about a month ago I was horrified. I can not understand how a person can really think that treating animals this way is okay. They keep about twenty to thirty mice in a bottom to a cat's litter box. They are stuffed on top of two inch high pine shavings. There is about an inch of room between the top of the pine shavings and the bottom of the chicken wire of the top of the litter box. They are nice enough to at least give the mice food though. But what do you know it's on top of the chicken wire. The mice have to spend minutes just trying to chistle off a little piece of food just so they can eat. On top of this there were many cages that animals had been in that had not been cleaned out. There were spider webs in most as well as left over skin from shedding. So, my sister and I called the Citrus Heights animal police and tried to get something done about this. After about two weeks I went back in to see if anything had changed. Nothing had been done. In fact things were even worse. Instead of just the mice this time there was a cage that was so upsetting I had to just walk out. In this cage was a dead, I repeat DEAD, taranchula that you could tell had been there for at least a week maybe more. You could tell this by the fact that it had completely dried so much that its legs were actually crumpling off of its body. This place is terrible. Please if you love animals, which you do if you shop here, please go somewhere else. Somewhere that takes care of their animals. This is not a place to support. It just isn't fair. Pros: You can of course by all the reptiles you want. Cons: They might die in a week or two. more

Lots of Unique Reptiles 1/11/2008

The smell is from rodents...AKA FOOD! Many people are making really bad reviews about this place. Me and my boyfriend went in there looking for pac-man frogs we called ahead of time to see if there were any available. The man who answered the phone is the owner. He is very helpful. He gave us directions on how to get there and showed us around the store talking about various animals and previous animals and current pets both my boyfriend and I have had. While we never bought a pac man frog there were 2 there that were really awesome. On top of the albino pac mans there were a bunch of healthy bearded dragons, tons of extremely healthy corn snakes, boas, and ball pythons, not to mention the more rare creatures like a beautiful green tree python (yellow and just amazing, of course it was sold already). Very active and healthy snakes and lizards everywhere! I have not see a larger reptile store than this and I have been to a lot of them. I have also owned reptiles my entire life. I did not see horrendous living conditions. Also, as far as snake poo in the aquariums? WHO CARES? A store that big and you expect the employee to keep it spick and span? Give me a F-ing break people! These animals are not in any danger! They eat and shed complete, they poo and crawl around like healthy living creatures. I've read the reviews for the recommended pet stores and they have got even worse reviews than Kasch's...Maybe that says something about the reviewer? Pros: Rare reptiles, professional and helpful staff/owner more
