Editorial review from Citysearch 12/16/2014

They found the cause and fixed an intermittant starter problem no one else could diagnose. They know what they are doing with electrical problems, top notch. They were conservative in that they did this without replacing any parts unnecessarily. more

total rip off 11/7/2012

i took my 2005 bmw 330ci too johnnys to have them repair my xeon,an adaptive head lighting system on my car.they replaced the xeon, and did not replace the adaptive module, which was unprofessional being that they work together.350$parts an 360$labor.now they want an another 2hours (170$)labor pay for going back over there work to tell me that i need new adaptive modules.jerk offs more

very disappointed at them. went in for a quote to rebuild a starter motor (since they have done that in the past for our construction machinery) and as soon as I told the guy at the front desk that the starter was from a boat his eyes lite up and he thought "cash" he told me that it would cost $165 to rebuild it. I left immediately since I knew I could buy one from ebay at $150. Lucky I was able to find a new one for $65 . more

These guys ROCK 12/6/2011

I was really impressed. Highly recommended. These guys are honest and get the job done. My car had multiple electrical problems. Some of them were intermittent, which makes it harder to diagnose. I'd already spent well over $1,000 trying to get these things fixed at another shop. They couldn 't figure it out. It was a waste of money. And time without a car. In addition, I'd wasted a few hundred more trying to diagnose and fix the issues myself, working alone in my garage. After a couple more months of wasted time and frustration, I found out about these guys, so I brought them the car. They found the various problems my car had and fixed them in just 4 total hours of labor. Wow. To top it off, they were able to re-solder and repair some of the parts as opposed to ordering new ones, which saved me an additional $500. Climate control units are not cheap. Then, as I was leaving, happy as can be, they made it clear to me that if any problems come back, they'll take care of it for the cost already paid. Now that's honest and great service. Fred is the guy I worked with for numbers and coordinating, and Jose did the actual hands on. Kudo's to these guys. I'm a customer for life. more

Honest, Fast, and Easy on the wallet. 9/29/2011

I had two fuses blowing in my car. The circuits the fuses were on ran ALL over the car interior and exterior lights and locks. I thought it would take days to track down the issue and get it fixed. Pep Boys recommended Johnny's so I dropped my car off with them. The tech at Johnny's isolated and fixed the problem in under two hours. These guys are GREAT!!! more

As a Lifelong Auto Tech and Proffessional Service Manager for more than 30 years I can tell you first hand that automotive electrical repair is absolutely in a class by itself. Any good wrench can replace your waterpump more

Great Service but where's Johnny? 11/17/2010

I had electrical problems with a Chevy Cavalier that a national auto club service location worked on (at great expense) for over a month. They gave up and they took the car to a local Chevy dealer in Raleigh. The dealer was willing to ""see what they could find"" at around $100 per hour. They had no idea what the problem was or how many hours that it would take to figure it out but they were willing to ?try? if I gave them a blank check! I then took it to Johnny's Auto & Marine Electrical in Garner. I was given a fair maximum amount that they would charge to diagnose the problem. In less than a day, they found the problem and repaired an electronic component that would have cost over a hundred dollars, just for the part. Their entire bill was the amount that they quoted for the estimate amount. Later I had a no start problem with a 6 month old Wal-Mart battery that Wal-Mart tested TWICE and told me that the battery was fine. Back to Johnny?s I went thinking that I had an electrical short in the vehicle. There was a drain but it was in the defective battery from Wal-Mart. The bottom line is that Dwight and Fred (I think that Fred is the inspiration for the Rodney Carrington song ?Fred? but I digress) are a throw back to the shops that know what they are doing and are fair in what they charge. I still would like to know what happened to poor Johnny but I may not get the answer to that question until after the ?statue of limitations? expires? more

Reminds me of Mayberry RFD 3/20/2008

I went in with a loose lawnmower starter thinking it needed to be repaired. The gentleman stopped what he was doing and bench tested it to find there was nothing wrong with it. I offered to pay something for his time but he wouldn't take it. Pros: Friendly, ""down home"" atmosphere, knowledgable, fair, Cons: There wasnt a nice hound dog laying around, probably would be a waiting list for service. more
