WHERE ARE ALL THE CCUSTOMERS 4/24/2010

My wonderful Husband & daughter treated me to a birthday lunch at Joe's on a Sunday. When we walked in, there was hardly anyone there? We placed our order, which took awhile, waitress had no personality, did not check on us to see if our meal was good. I really like crab cake & was surprised that my order of crab cake was very mushy I think they forgot to cook it!! & the rest of our orders had tons of salt. We have eaten there before & loved our food & experience, & to top it off our bill came to 80$ Which made me sick!! I believe Chef Gordan Ramsey would have rated JOE'S CRAP SHACK an F & spit out that mushy CRAP CAKE!! All in all if you care about your health I don't recommend eating here at all. I have since enjoyed eating at Market Street Grill where you can enjoy fresh seafood at a reasonable price & the food is YUMMY!!! Pros: NON Cons: NON more

Fun atmosphere, great food! 2/23/2010

I've always had a great experience at Joe's. Sure, it's loud, and the decor is a little crazy, but it all adds to that seaside shack feel! The servers are always respectful to me and whoever I'm with. Sure, servers are human and they make mistakes, but the managers are always apologetic and helpful. Once I ordered the dungeness crab spicy boil, but the server brought out dungeness barbecue style. I alerted the server to the mistake, and she quickly brought me the correct order. A few minutes later the manager came up to the table and apologized again for the mistake and offered to take the appetizer off the bill. That's great service in my book! They also have a new menu, they've had it for about a month I think, and it has some great new additions (I love the pan seared mahi). So give the Crab Shack a chance and stop by! You might be surprised. Pros: Fair prices, good service Cons: None! more

Great Date, Service and Food Was NOT! 5/5/2008

I flew here from Jacksonville, Florida to meet someone (Dating On-Line is not the safest thing in the world) but I have to admit that my date was the highlight of the trip and eating at this So-Called Establishment was the worst thing that I experienced.\r \r I love Seafood and get ample of it in Florida, on a scale of 1-10, it would be a ZERO!!!!! The Lobster was like chewing rubber and had NO TASTE! The Bread was wonderful and the only thing good I can say about the entire meal. Service = 2, Noise = 10, Attitude = 5. If they do not want to work there, why are they there?\r \r I would NEVER go back here again. \r \r Side Note: Not only was the Myan Food 3 times better, so was the Atmosphere. I would eat there (Myan) again and when I move here, I will be sure to bring my children, they would love to see the Divers. Pros: The Bread Cons: Everything but the Bread more

BAD service 2/11/2008

Extremely rude server. When we were seated at our table we waited at least 20 min before I got up to ask the hostess if any servers would be taking our order soon. When a server quickly walked by our table he didn't even stop at our table to say he was our waiter, we assumed he was because he said ""I'll be back"". Before he turned the turner I said loudly enough so he can hear ""could we at least get some water""? He turned back to say ""you know where the door is!"" We decided we should dine elsewhere. As we were leaving, the waiter walks next to the couple we were with and says ""Thanks for making my job easier by leaving!"" Within minutes, my husband asks for a manager. To sum up his response, the manager was not surprised that his employee acted out. Apologized, like any other manager would do. However, if he was aware of this employee's perfomance why was he still there? In anycase, BEWARE of rude employees should you choose to dine here. Cons: Bad service more

Horrible 12/29/2006

There was nothing good about the food. Our server was the only decent point. It was the worst crab I have ever eaten. I definitely will not be back. Cons: horrible more

i'll settle with Red Lobster 6/27/2006

I'm not a fan of all the hooplah and active decor. The food was average at best. I went there a second time. Needless to say the food was worse on their second chance. more

Completely disappointed 3/8/2006

My family ate at Joe's for the first time in 2 years. It started out with us staring at a half empty restaurant and being told that it would be a 10 minute wait. Once seated, we ordered the Joe's Double Dip for an appitizer. It tasted like it was topped with velveta cheese and gave a odd, unpleasant aftertaste. I ordered a steak and lobster tail and my wife ordered Shrimp and Salmon. The lobster tail and shrimp both tasted like they had been cooked hours ahead of time and had been sitting under a heat lamp. None of our food had much flavor either. The twice baked potatoe was OK, but I wouldn't get it again. All in all, it was big money for poor food at a poor restaurant. I would expect more if McDonalds started selling lobster tail and shrimp. I do not recommend this restaurant. Pros: atmosphere, fresh bread Cons: Dry, Flavor (lack of), quality more

What Happened??? 9/27/2005

When this place first opened it was great. My last visit on Saturday was terrible. The food has gone way downhill. For a seafood/crab restaurant, they sure don't know how to cook shrimp or crab. Overdone and tough. Sorry, but there are many other places in SLC to get much better seafood for the same or less money. Pros: Fun atmosphere, good for kids Cons: overpriced seafood, food overcooked more

Joe's Crab Shack 10/14/2003

Joe's Crab Shack is by far better than the Mayan. If you want authentic Mexican food the Mayan is not the place to get it, but the entertainment is great. I don't know who rated Crab Shack but my kids like that just as much or more than the Mayan. They love the food at the crab shack and I think the food is great too! Pros: food, atmosphere, service Cons: long wait during rush more

FUN AND GOOD FOOD TOO! 1/20/2003

Sometimes a long line, but worth the wait. All the staff is friendly and willing to help with anything. Everything I have had so far has been wonderful. Almost on a par with THE FISH COMPANY in southern calif. The fish and chips are like what we had many years ago when I was growing up in Utah. The shrimp had a coating that was delicious. Parking is a scramble at times, but with a new place in Orem and others, that will be better. Ihave no problems driving from Orem to Sandy for good food. Pros: good food, cooked properly, fun for a party Cons: poor parking, Too good for Utah more

Mmmmm Dungenes 1/18/2003

I found Joe's Crab Shack a fun place to eat and the food was excellent. For someone who is reading these reviews trying to decide if they should go. Note that even the reviews that say it's terrible said that it was always packed, meaning that there are more people who like it than don't. Pros: Good Food, Fun Atmosphere Cons: Loud more

Loud+Overcooked=NASTY! 8/21/2002

We took some visiting family to joes on a Saturday night just to check it out. I honestly think that the only reason this place is busy is the fact that it sits on Larry Land (a.k.a. Jordan Commons). The music was so loud that we had to shout across the table. Can you imagine the noise of several hundred patrons shouting over music and each other?! The waitress was too busy dancing to serve. On top of all this, the food was tasteless and overcooked. Shriveled corn on the cobb and dry snow crab that stuck to the shell=nasty. It wasn't exactly inexpensive either. Picture yourself paying $30 to eat a hot dog at Senor Frogs in Cancun during a spring break happy hour. I'm a fun loving guy but I'll pay the measly extra five dollars for some real seafood in a decent atmosphere next time. more

So-so 6/26/2002

The food was so-so, but expensive. The worst part about the place was it was too LOUD. The service was OK, nothing special. I'd go back if they cut their prices by 1/2, but this visit was probably my last. Pros: Good crab Cons: Expensive, Loud more
