Amazing Steaks 9/16/2006

I love it here! Their steaks are awesome! And a good deal too! The service is prompt and courteous. A great place to go before a show at the Village Theater. I would definately recommend! Pros: Good value. Cons: Parking more

WOW! 8/31/2006

Absolutly amazing this place! Small and crowded, long wait but well worth it! Very inexpensive as well. Plenty of places to go get a drink while you wait. give them your cell # and they will call you when your table is ready. You will love this place! Pros: Food, prices, parking in back more

Absolutely the best AND worth the wait! 6/21/2006

I cannot beleive ANYONE who says that this place is not worth the wait. Probably the only reason why you wouldn't like it is if you never read ANY reviews, or you dont pay attention you HAVE TO GET THERE EARLY. When I say early I mean as theya re opening. You will be seated immediately, get great service because no one else is in the place, except for the others who know to get there early. I have always had above excellent service from all of the waitresses at this location and at the Laurelhurst shop. You really need to decided whether or not you are going to pay $50 ( for 2 not icluding tip) for these absolutely phenomenal steaks here at Jaks or go to a crappy meal at the keg and spend the same amount. And don't even get me started on Daniels broiler. Talk about rude, unattentive servers. Jaks grill's steaks are 100 times better, service is exceptional, and HALF THE PRICE. If you complain about the wait, get there early. If you complain about the servers, theres something wrong with you! Working in the customer service industry there are those you will NEVER be happy unless you literally licking the mud off their shoes. So I wouldnt trust these people's reviews. This is the absolute best of the best in terms of quality food, great service, for a price you cannot refuse. more

The BEST 12/27/2005

Hands down, the best filet I have ever had. Ever. I always order my steak well done, which is sometimes hard to get right; they are either overcooked and burned, or still pink inside. JaK's got it PERFECT with no pink center. Delicious! The wine list was great and the Citrus Cosmo was awesome. The service was great too... our server was very friendly and effecient. We got our food in a reasonable amount of time. The wait is long... but it is worth it! Highly Recommend! more

Great Value 9/12/2005

Good steaks but not as good as those at the Met or Peter Lugar's. Of course, the bill comes to half of what you'd pay at those two places so it's a great value. Service is solid and efficient but occasionally hurried. Pros: inexpensive more

Worth The Wait! 5/12/2005

I've never had a bad meal here. The best steaks around and I'll measure Jak's against The Met, Ruth's, Flemings anytime! The wait sets the mood, great drinks, crowd adds to the ambience. Small so get there early. Waits can be long. Pros: Food quality, Service Cons: Wait for table, Crowded more

Great Steak! Long Wait! 3/27/2005

This is still the best steak I have ever had. The place is very unassuming, but for reasonable (steakhouse) prices you can get a nice sized filet with a side of potatoes and a full sized salad. The wait can be long, and they don't take reservations. If you are going with a larger group (~6) then you should be prepared to wait at least an hour. There is a Starbucks nearby though which is open late, and serves as a good waiting place since the hostess at Jak's will take a cell phone # and call you when your table is ready. Pros: Steak, Free Parking, Stay on the Eastside Cons: Long Wait, Hard to seat groups more

User review by stevenordbye 3/8/2005

make sure you get there early, or are prepared to make an evening out of it. They don't take reservations. Many many times I have waited 2 plus hours to be seated. Don't worry once you taste the steak, it is worth it! more

The BEST 2/10/2005

Ask for Stacy, she is the best!!!!!!!!!! This food is always great. The wait is worth it! more

The best - Met quality, Keg prices 1/15/2005

Steaks are excellent and on par with the Met, Daniel's Broiler, etc., while pricing is closer to the Keg or Outback. Shredded cheddar and garlic mashed potatoes are awesome. Negative reviews regarding wait time are accurate - most evenings the wait is over an hour if you arrive after 6:30, and they don't take reservations. But that's what happens when a locally owned steak house gets this kind of reputation! Here's the secret: put your name on the list and then walk across the street to the library or down to the salmon hatchery during the summer. As for the cooking of the steak - I have consistently ordered ""well done-no pink"" and have been amazed at how juicy and tender it is with no pink. I'm convinced that the people who complained did not accurately describe how their steaks should be cooked. Pros: Excellent food, Excellent prices Cons: , Popular/Crowded more

JaK's is the ""Steak King"" 5/27/2004

Of all the steaks I've had anywhere (and that's a lot!) JaK's Grill rules the roost! There may be a wait to be seated, and should be expected on Friday and Saturday, but it is worth the wait. The bar is well stocked with great bartenders so relaxing before the meal is a pleasure. All of the menu items are well prepared and you get a ""full meal"" for the price. Try the Porterhouse! The best anywhere! This tops the Met, Ruth's, and all the others. May not be quite as fancy as som but isn't it the meat we're after??? Keep it up JaK's!!! Pros: Great Steaks!, Great Drinks, Full Course Meal more

Real Steak 5/20/2004

Very tasty. We consider it better than the Metropolitan Bar and Grill. Although small, arriving early and they will accomadate a slightly larger group of 8. Highly recommend it, if you are in a steak and potato mood. You cannot go wrong! Pros: great steaks Cons: , no reservations more

JaK's Grill rocks! 3/11/2004

I worked in Issaquah for a couple years before I finally got around to trying this place. The exterior does not hint at the wonders inside. The best steak preparation anywhere (JaK's petite filet is my favorite)! The chilled salad is divine! Garlic mashed potatoes, oh heavens! A true culinary treasure in old downtown Issaquah. Pros: Succulent food, The best waitstaff, Intimate setting Cons: , Crowds quickly, Parking can be tough more

Consistently Good! 3/7/2004

My wife and I have dined at Jak's many times and not once have we had a negative experience. The food is always delicious and the service very friendly. We continue to take friends and family to this establishment for dinner because we know we will always have a great meal. Fri. and Sat. nights are very busy (2 hr wait in some cases), week nights are better. more

Great Steak 1/27/2004

If you are looking for tasty steak at a reasonable price, you have to go to JaK's Grill. Get there early, because it gets crowded and there is a reason why it gets crowded. Pros: Good size steak, Good price Cons: The wait more

NOT overrated 10/17/2003

I recently returned from another outing to JaK's and found the same great quality, value and service as always and am astonished to see recent reviews as overrated and snobs. The steaks are as good as ANY in town and the atmosphere is comfortably casual, which makes the overall experience much better than the overpriced stuffy alternatives in town. In particular reference to the ones who were displeased with how their dinner was prepared - if you want beef well done - go to Sizzler... Pros: value, service, atmosphere more

I Politely Disagree 10/17/2003

I have been taking my family to Jaks Grill regularly for several years now and have found both food quality and service to be both excellent and consistent over that period. While I can't disupte the fact that I will likelyface a significant wait on Thursday and Friday night, I think this is simply a testament to the broad appeal of this restaurant to those who seek a great meal at a very resonable price. Keep it up! Pros: Food Quality, Value, Service Cons: busy weekends more

Make a night of it... 8/19/2003

Plan on making a night of it, your experience will be wonderful. Regardless of when you arrive the wait is ALWAYS shorter than quoted. If you are eager to eat, seats at the NON SMOKING bar open up with patience. When you are there, you will be served... killer dry martini's and a great wine selection prime you for a great meal. The bartenders, (Mikell and/or Matthew) are experienced, efficient and very knowledgeable. Get to know them and you will be well looked after. Their world class cocktails are always at the ready. The perfect steak and complementary beverage will make your trip to 'Issaquah's little Miracle' worth time and money. The employee owned attitude brings warm and friendly service to every table every time. Look for the occasional local celebrity. As an Issaquah local, this is a twice a week stop for me... at the very least. Enjoy! Pros: Martini's, Wine Selection, Steaks Cons: Wait, Parking, Hard Seats more

Not just the best steak for the price... 4/8/2003

but the best steak around. I've been to Jaks in Issaquah numerous times and have NEVER had a bad, or even marginal, experience. Yes the wait can be long, but if you come later and expect to wait they also have an outstanding bar. The restaurant has none of the pretentiousness of the downtown steak houses. The wait staff is knowledgeable on preparations and the food is outstanding! I highly recommend the filet and the blackened salmon. I've also eaten at The Met numerous times (I used to work across the street) and feel that Jaks has more consistent service and quality (at a fraction of the cost to boot!). If you're in a hurry, plan on getting to Jaks when they open. And if you're not in a hurry, it's well worth the wait. Pros: Food Quality, Great Atmosphere, Knowledgeable Waiters Cons: No Reservations more

Yummy Steaks 3/9/2003

JaK's cooks up mean steaks for a fraction the cost of local high end steak houses. The wait can be absolutely ridiculous at 2+ hours, but with a bit of planning I don't think it's such a big deal. I find it conveniant to grab drinks across the street while I'm waiting for a table. The waiting staff seems okay, but nothing to brag about. Pros: great steaks, good value Cons: long wait, crowded more
