inexpensive, and good to take kids 1/10/2012

There is a novelty of having the sushi go around in a small boat which is fun in itself but also helpful to keep kids engaged while parents eat their meal in peace. There was an ample variety of sushi moderately priced going around on boats. If I ever have a concern about something being fresh, I can (and have) asked the chef to make it up fresh for me and he always said yes. Waitstaff was attentive and polite (although they might have been a little slow at times) but never enough for me to give them a bad review. more

Decent and cheap sushi 4/25/2010

Isobune may not be the classiest restaurant or have the best sushi, but they have quick service and cheap food. Free teas and chicken katsu for $5. All the sushi on the boats is under $7. You can?t beat it! I also absolutely love the sushi boats. It?s cute and interactive. more

Never, ever again. 12/1/2009

I had the most appalling experience at Isobune last night. First, my husband and I weren't greeted when we entered the restaurant. Usually the Japantown location is very big with this, especially since they usually have a waiting list at the door during prime dinnertime. At Burlingame, we pathetically had to seat ourselves. Then, the dreadful looking sushi passes by. One limp, pathetic offering after another. One passes by, called Black Tobiko with (boiled) Quail Egg - eew! Usually, this is done with Ikura and a raw Quail Egg, no such luck. This must be cheaper. Keeps longer too to avoid salmonella, I guess. What else can I say? Well, last time we were here, I remember ordering from their sushi chef: Hamachi, Uni, Tai, all of which were way past their prime. So this time, I was afraid to order from the sushi chef to see what he could pawn-off. I just tried to find something halfway edible on the already pre-made, choked those up, and am promising myself to never, ever return. Never, ever again. more

Pathetic, dried out sushi 10/23/2006

Had high hopes after reading a few reviews... disappointed in quality of sushi. Sat at a table, servings apparently pulled off rotating service bar (not fresh). Mackerel and tuna servings simply not appearing safe to eat. Spider roll better termed ""gooey rice ball with a little crab in it"". Seriously, have had better sushi in West Texas (500 miles from ocean). Pros: cheap Cons: lousy quality sushi, may be unhealthy more

Very Good Sushi 9/22/2006

The sushi is awesome and fresh. This is only one of two sushi resturants I will eat at due to the fact that some of the dishes I eat are raw. I only have one problem and that's with people who bring their children. Some people let their brats take the food off the boats at the counter with no intention of eating it and then they put the food back on the boat. It's unsanitary. For people w/children, leave your kids at home or sit at a table, not the counter. more

Speeding Sushi Boats 11/15/2003

Sit at the sushi bar and watch the boats go around and around. We went on a sunday so the place was not as busy. We were prompted seated and given tea. There's a good selection of standard sushi fare and you can make request to the chef. Two people can easily eat 15-20 dishes. Reminds me of an ""All-you-can-eat"" type place. Pros: Sushi Selection, Reasonable Prices, Parking more
