One of Corpus Christi's Great Sushi Restaurants 3/12/2011

NOT TRUE. I can't sit here and tell you that I have tried many different Sushi Restaurants; but, I can tell this is a very good place to have sushi. I'm not a cook, never studied culinary arts, I do not work at Imperial, I do not do business with this restaurant, or worked in an establishment like this. I do know food and this food is really good.\r \r This restaurant will cater to your needs if you would like. If you prefer to have a certain ingredient in your sushi roll, they will accomadate this. People who eat here can also create their own sushi roll. \r \r The sushi rolls are made like any other sushi roll I've had. The rolls don't have ""hug(e) chunck(s) of cucumber in it"". They have small sized ingredients in their sushi rolls. They also put the wasabi on the side, a few inches away from the sushi rolls.\r \r The shrimp sushi rolls that I received were deveined, tasty, and fresh. And by the way, the cooks did not snack on anything while I was dining there. \r \r When I started going to Imperial Cafe, they had lunch specials that feature the favorite rolls at half the price. I don't know if they still do since recently I cannot get their on time for lunch.\r \r I've never tried Aka, but if you work there or are receiving compensation for promoting their restaurant, you should rethink your strategy. It's not good form to lie about the competition. more

Go here! We're from Kingsville and drive in every weekend and don't mind the 45 minute drive! Best sushi and Asian food in South Texas. Friendly staff, great environment, awesome, awesome, awesome! more

AWESOME SUSHI 11/14/2007

Clearly the diner below does not know what they are talking about. I am a food connoisseur and this place is by far one of the best if not the best sushi and thai restaurants I have had the pleasure to dine at. I'm beginning to think the comment below is from a competitor as it does not match up with the other reviews. This place is FANTASTIC. Keep up the good work! more

Worst Sushi EVER!!!! 8/20/2006

Contrary to the other reviews on this site ...... this is THE WORST SUSHI THAT I HAVE EVER HAD, EVER! \r \r First of all let me start out by saying that I am a waitress at a Sushi resturant in Dallas, and I have had sushi in Dallas, Seattle, New York City, Chicago, Orlando, San Francisco even Austin, this stuff they call sushi, ISN'T!\r \r The rolls that we ordered where not even close to what they are supposed to be nor how they traditionally are to be made! The roll part of the Rainbow roll had only a crab stick and a hug chunck of cucumber in it, no avocado, as it is supposed to have, and to top it off they put wasabi under the fish peices. ICK! AND to GROSS US OUT ......the shrimp were not deveined. \r \r Another thing that was VERY UNSANITARY ..... the guys back there making sushi where eating and rolling sushi at the same time. This is a major NO-NO. This means that they could have put their finger in their mouth then touched the sushi that is going in your mouth! YUCKIE!!!!! and a MAJOR HEALTH CODE VIOLATION!!!!!\r \r DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE, DRIVE DOWN TO AKA FOR REAL SUSHI! \r The only good thing is that the waitress was nice and friendly!\r Pros: FRIENDLY WATIRESS AND THAT'S IT Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE more

More Thai than Japanese 8/15/2006

The sushi was great - the ""honor"" rolls are very unique and creative but a little pricey (recommended: Rockport roll). The entree (we had Drunken Noodles) was salty and more of a Thai flavor than the Japanese style we were expecting. The atmosphere inside was very nice, in contrast to the outside. Pros: Lunch seems like a better deal, atmosphere Cons: Misleading menu, weak service more

Upscale and delicious 5/28/2006

THE SCENE: A wall of trickling water greets guests into this upscale restaurant. An aquarium is nestled on top of the sushi bar, and a bridge that spreads across a koi pond separates one of the dining areas. Thai decorations and leaf-shaped fans add to the decor. THE FOOD: Don't miss out on the tempura-fried Imperial Roll (crabmeat, cucumber, shrimp, tomato, caviar, avocado, and cooked snapper), as well as the Drunken Noodles Platter (beef, chicken, shrimp, and your choice of spiciness-from mild to nuclear) more
