RSH 8/21/2005

This hotel is mostly for the celebration. You have on of the best views during mardi gras (But that also makes the price go WAY up.) There is really nothing special about the hotel; regular rooms, regular service, regular experience. There is really nothing that puts it over the top, or anything that I really don;t like. Obviously if you need lots of space order a suite, the rooms arent very big. Dont sit around in the hotel all day is what I say, go see New Orleans. more

Great 8/17/2005

This hotel is very nice and is located in a great location (it is not very quiet here though, unfortunately). The rooms are small, so I recommend staying in a suite. Some of the staff were great, some were average. Rooms overall though are clean and pretty comfortable. You might be able to get a better deal for a 4 star hotel though. more

Famous hotel... 7/16/2005

If you want a hotel that is accessible for the handicapped this one isn't it. The Royal Sonesta is famous for the rich people who book suites years in advance to watch Mardi gras' crowds from its balcony. Every Mardi Gras weekend they have the ritual of Greasing the Poles. This is where vaseline is smeared along the poles leading to the balcony of the Sonesta to avoid anyone climbing up. MTV is on the Sonesta balcony every year during Mardi Gras. more
