Best authentic Japanese food 8/24/2010

Now, I have never tried real authentic Japanese food before, but a lot of my friends have and they all said that it's really good; so I had to try for myself. Therefore, a big group of us went together on a weekend to try this place. If you are into dinner and a show, then this would be a great place to go to for great food, entertainment and awesome chefs. \r \r The moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted by friendly cooks and the staff. We were then directed to a table and got our menus. Since I've never had Japanese food before I wasn't sure what to order. So we all decided to order a bunch of different things and we could all try a little bit of everything, while splitting the cost of the total. Their sushi was the best, along with the raw salmon; which sounds gross but was really delicious especially with the wasabi on it. \r \r After we ordered, the chief guy went to the back and soon emerged with a cart of different foods. Then he started cooking the rice, fish and all the other foods right in front of us; along with tossing their knives and the food all over the place. While we all watched him cook and make a mess, he also held conversations with us and made the atmosphere there more comfortable. \r \r All-in-all, I really liked this restaurant and I hope to be going back with my family sometime soon. It was the best Japanese food I have had; granted I've only eaten the sushi that you buy in the grocery stores and Honmachi. I will also recommend this to anyone who has yet to try Japanese food, or who is looking for a fantastic place with, in my opinion, the best Japanese food I have eaten. You will not regret it if you go here. more

We love this place! 12/31/2008

My husband and I eat here frequently. We have been to this location at Ray and Dobson, but we usually go to the one on Chandler Blvd near the 101 just because it is a little closer to our house. The happy hour roll specials are great, 1/2 price on 5 or more rolls (certain rolls). The sushi is always great quality and we always receive our order quickly. The miso soup is a great starter for when we arrive very hungry. Pros: fast, quiet, good food more

Sushi lover finds new home! 4/21/2008

Walking into this little Sushi place has restored my faith that there are still places out there that actually care about how you feel when you walk in to an establishment, when you're eating, and yes, even after you leave. I like the fact that isn't crawling with people or waitstaff bumbling all over each other, running around, etc... I chose to sit outside on the patio because of the view overlooking the little lake. Very serene...\r My waitress was Jackie, whom I highly recommend asking for by name, made me feel like....searching for the right phrase here, like I had been there many times before and....put it this way, VERY comfortable! Her attitude was pleasant and professional, with extremely high spirits, makes you wanna come back again, y'know?\r After ordering off the picture menu, which was helpful, I received my Miso soup and a Japanese beer( I have the luxury of drinking when I want, he he, although I had to decline the Saki bomb due to a previous experience, lol). After a brief wait, my food came, I had the most unbelievable bluefin tuna from Jackie's recommendation, a Volcano roll, and an order of Yellow tail sashimi, and I topped it all off with an extra side of fresh wasabi. So delicious! After a brief but pleasant conversation with the waitress, I was going to make my way to the door but Jackie insisted on a complimentary order of Mochi ice cream. Sooooooo good! I paid the bill which was reasonable for what I ordered and was on my way. I have never written a review before, but I felt it necessary to reward them with my honest opinion. I highly recommend that you try this little nook when you're in the Ray and Dobson area. Tell them David the IT guy sent you! Pros: The service here is unmatched - day or night, and the food is phenomenal! great view... Cons: smaller restaurant, not really a con but if it gets busy...no free miso soup :) more

Good restaurant for Korean & Japanese food 10/10/2005

This review is for their Arizona Ave-Elliott location in Chandler. Good restaurant if you are looking for Korean and Japanese cuisine in one place. Service is great. Chicken Teriyaki and California Sushi rolls are good and tasty. Price is fairly valued for the quality and portion size. I am disappointed that it is not a traditional Japanese restaurant where you sit on the floor to eat and the decor does not come close to restaurants in Japantown in San Francisco. Overall, a good restaurant to go to on a Friday night. Pros: Food, Parking, Service more

The worst Sushi in town! 12/29/2004

The first I went to this restaurant and it's definetely my last. I ordered take out... whoever picked up the phone was certainly very rude but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went ahead with the place. I took the sushi home and it was extremely disappointing. The avocado was brown which meant it had been sitting in the open for a while, the rice used wasn't sticky rice so the sushi was disintegrating everytime you tried to take a bite. I had two bites of it and it went down the trash. I called the place to complain and the same rude lady didn't seem to take care. I went back the next day and got my money back. I don't know how this place stays in business. It was terrible!!!! There's one thing you don't mess with, nasty sushi. Pros: none! Cons: , food more
