Hollywood Beats Blockbuster... but not Netflix 7/12/2005

Even though there's a Blockbuster near my house... I've been known to drive all the way to Hollywood pretty frequently. They have a better selection of "favorites" (older movies), and still maintain their selection of new releases. But I'm a recent Netflix convert. If Netflix doesn't have it, it doesn't exist on DVD. And with the new OKC shipping facility they recently opened, I get the DVD's the next day. And I don't have to make a special trip to return them. But if you prefer the brick-and-morter rental experience, I think I like Hollywood's selection better than blockbuster. Although, you might just want to pick whatever is closes to your house. more

Hollywood or Blockbuster, I'll go for the underdog 7/11/2005

I'd pick Hollywood Video over Blockbuster any day. Blockbusters service is terrible. Three days ago, I went to a Blockbuster to use a free movie rental coupon. AND THEY MADE ME PAY TAX ON A FREE MOVIE! Not to mention there was only one cashier/checker. Anyways, I like video games, so naturally I would enjoy the Game Crazy addition onto Hollywood Video. I am aware that some Blockbusters have added a GameRush store to their franchise also, but Hollywood has always treated their customers with respect. Besides, the only downside and upside is everything is due in 5 days, not counting the day you rent it. That is not confusing. And if it's a new release and you bring it back the next day, they give you a dollar credit on your account. I just wish I had a Hollywood Video closer to my house. more
