The Grand Island Holiday Inn was in a great location, about 5 minutes off the main highway. Those 5 minutes made all the difference in feeling like I'd taken a nice trip to the countryside. I'm from NY, so I don't always want a big city/downtown area feel to my hotels. With its location on the Niagara River, being across from a golf course, and rural feel, it was great to be at that Holiday Inn. Although the hotel allows pets, the carpets were clean. I probably saw one small stain on a section of carpet during my entire stay. There was zero pet odor. I have three dogs, so I know what pet odor smells like. Also, there wasn't any smell of smoke in the rooms or the corridors of the hotel. The hotel balcony was nice. You just have to roll your room chair out to sit down. The outdoor pool was closed and drained. The indoor pool was great and was full of locals in the morning doing water aerobics. There's an arcade room, which leads out to the gazebo. It was beautiful. The Grand Lady yacht is docked outside. Jet skiers and power boaters cruise around past the hotel. It's very scenic. The staff were great. They smiled and it felt sincere. They gave great recommendations on food and good directions to various venues. My sister is hard to please, but she congratulated me on picking a great location. I'd definitely stay there again!
