I noticed a few reviews of this place, saw at least one crying about race this and white people that.. all I can say is grow up. the only one with a race issue is yourself. It's CARMEL... if you don't drive a BMW or Mercedes or make a six figure income they treat you bad no matter what color you are!!\r \r I ate here because of Clint Eastwood, figured it would be good...Arrived at 6ish.. we had a party of 10. seated right away... Slow servce but friendly. we got the ""soft bread as did our friends... Food could have been better. \r \r By the way.. I am a WHITE business owner with a great income and drive a BMW, and my friends that joined us were BLACK, and a JAPANESE cople and Two HISPANIC couples.. all with good incomes and cars...\r \r So see it happens to everyone but locals who they know are rich... again the food could have been better but I didn't see any Nazi's.. the only german ting that was there was my Car... Pros: Nice location and Decor Cons: Slow service, food quality could have been better more

Hogs Breath Saloon 11/1/2007

Recently spent a Saturday night in Carmel. Ended up at the Hogs Breath, recommended by a local. The staff wasn't very friendly, with the exception of our waitress. The staff, plus the manager did Last Call at 10:30 pm. My friends and I were from out of town and it was our first time there. JUST NOT VERY FRIENDLY. We were practically thrown out! Pros: Warm fireplaces Cons: rude customer service more

Didn't quite make my day 9/11/2007

Nothing spectacular. Service was good.I had the steak sandwich( good) & my wife had the crab salad(so,so). Would have been better if Clint was there. The house brew is very good! It was very relaxing. more

Not Dirty Harry, more like Dirty Service 8/23/2007

Having driven down from San Jose for a good dining experience, let me just say I have not been so disappointed. First we had to see the waiter walk past us over and over before he finally took our order. Brings out olive oil but no bread at which point we had to request. When the bread finally came out it was so hard it could have been used as a deadly projectile. Having looked at all the other patrons bread which looked nice and soft we asked the busboy if the bread was supposed to be this hard and he replied no and kindly brought us some regular bread. When the food did come out it was all at once including our soup, appetizers, and main course. Who the heck does that??? On top of that the food was average at best but the Dirty Harry Dinner is supposed to be a sirloin steak but looked and tasted just like a hamburger patty. That's why there's Mickey D's and Burger King. During the whole time we were there not once did the waiter ask us how we were doing or thanked us when he brought out the check. He even had the nerves to roll his eyes when he thought we weren't looking. I have always left tip even for poor service (granted a lot smaller) but the service at Hog's was totally unacceptable, not only did I not leave a tip but left a penny to show my disgust for the raccist service we received. I will not dine at Hog's Inn ever again. Cons: Service and Food more

Only if you're white 8/23/2007

This was by far one of the worst restaurant experiences in my life. First of all, the waiter ignored us several times. It took him over 10 minutes to come and take our order, and the place wasn't even busy. After he finally took our order, we had to ask for the bread again, since it never came out. When it did, the damn thing was so hard, I could have built a house it. I asked the busboy (who incidentally was filipino) if the bread was supposed to be like this, to which he replied that it wasn't. We looked around, and everyone else's bread look like it was soft, because it bent when they dipped it into the oil and vinegar mixture. We ordered a combination of soup, appetizers, and a dinner plate, which all came at the same time. Who the hell eats everything at the same time? For dinner, we ordered the Dirty Harry Dinner, which consists of sirloin steak, mashed potatoes, and vegetables. We got a friggin hamburger patty for a steak. The whole time the waiter never checked up on us, but was chopping it up with all the other tables (all white people). The only time the waiter was nice to us, was when he was trying to make another sale with desserts and coffee, to which we declined. We never got a thank you as he handed us the bill, and took it again with the money. Shame, shame, Clint. Aside from the nazi-ish staff and ambience, the food was mediocre, and the lack of decoration made the place look barren. Pros: good for white people Cons: bad for everyone else more

Very cozy, great bloody mary 2/25/2007

The food is average but the ambiance is great.....and it is Clint's place. Better to have a drink in the small bar and eat some place else unless if you are looking for a good meal. However, if you want to grab a quick bite somewhere with a little history before heading back out to shop then this is perfect. Pros: Ambience Cons: Average food more
