Fantastic golf courses!!!!!!!! 1/28/2011

I got to play the President's Reserve golf course back in October for the first time and it is PHENOMENAL!! I was blown away to find a golf course like this in middle TN. The staff was helpful and courteous when I arrived and really helped me find my way around. The course conditions were exceptional with the zoysia fairways and the greens were rolling great. The maintenance crew must be top notch to keep two public golf courses in this kind of condition. Anyone who lives here or passes through this area has to put these courses on their play list. I am seriously considering one of their memberships for 2011. more

Don't spend your money here 12/20/2010

Let me start by saying these are two of the nicest courses in the state, let alone the Nashville area. Now, that being said, I do not recommend playing either course. They are only interested in your money. Customer service is absolutely horrible. The Rangers push and push and push players around the course in order to squeeze in as many rounds and as many people as they can each and every day. The owner does not care about your enjoying your day or the course. People have complained and complained and complained about the rangers pushing and pushing and nothing ever changes. They must feel that they have the best track around and that people will just keep coming so supply and demand wins out. I am not a slow player and I have been asked to speed up on more than 4 occasions while I am standing on the tee of a par 3 with people on the green, and a group waiting waiting in front of me. It has also happended mutliple times during a round when I am standing in the middle of the farway 150 yrds out and the group in front of me is just walking on to the green. The management here has been told. Again, nothing changes. I rated this one a single star only because the system would not allow me to rate it zero stars. You may ask why I have played it many times...it is only because I play in a league/group which continues to schedule events here. If it were not for that, I would not play here at all. more

Consistent 11/23/2002

Fairways are always in great shape and the greens roll true. Pros: Consistent, Great Service Cons: Pricey, Sometimes crowded more

willing to travel 886 miles for it 10/2/2002

I love this course and the people who work there. It is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon and an even better place to learn something. I sincerely believe that Virgil Herring is a genius at golf instruction, check him out. more

Simply the best 9/8/2002

Worth the drive and well worth the money. If you like carpet like fairways and green and soft greens this is your only choice. Not once have I been there where they have had burnt out greens or fairways. The maintenance staff is courteous when you are trying to hit or putt and the rest of the staff is knowledgeable and really go out of their way to help out. Pros: Awesome courses, Great staff, Practice facility Cons: More bev carts more

We'll be back 8/11/2002

What a terrific experience. We are frequent visitors to Nashville, but this was our first visit to the Hermitage. It will definately not be our last. We intend to play there every chance we get. The General's Retreat course was great and we look forward to trying President's Reserve. The staff was exceptional and the course itself was immaculate. Outstanding! more

HGC is the best 8/8/2002

Hermitage Golf Course is an outstanding golf course. It has 2 18 hole courses, each excellently designed. The General's Retreat has the basic style of most courses, but it is in a much higher standing. Its my favorite of the 2 courses. The Presidental Reserve has a country style, complete with a barn. It has murky ponds, tall rolling weeds and tall trees. This course is a bit more difficult than its neighbor, The General's Retreat. Pros: Great ourses, Excellent ervice, Perfect fairways/gree Cons: none found, none found, none found more

WOW.... AWESOME 8/1/2002

Editorial
  • In Short
One of the finest public access golf courses in Tennessee, The Hermitage features two par-72 18-hole courses along the Cumberland River: The General's Retreat and The President's Reserve. The General's Retreat was the longtime home of the LPGA's Sara Lee Classic. The President's course rambles through 300 acres of natural wetlands. Just a short drive from downtown, this spot sees a lot of locals on the weekends and professionals during the work days.
