Haslam's Book Store is legendary 6/12/2011

Best book store in Florida and beyond! I've loved reading ever since I could and I've been shopping at Haslam's just as long. Their smart, friendly staff, especially Ray, and their massive collection of titles, subjects and experiences makes Haslam's Book Store a MUST VISIT here in sunny St. Pete, Florida more

My favorite since 1964 ! Haslam's: where I learned to love to read 7/19/2006

I have been visiting Haslam's Book Store since 1964.(According to the history of Haslam's Bookstore they opened in 1933.) My Grandparents moved to St Pete in 1964 and from then on I spent every moment I could in Haslam's. I have fond memories of my Grandfather and I walking from their home on Burlington Avenue North to Haslam's, greeting everyone we passed by name along the way. My grandfather was the gregarious type of person who made friends wherever he was. My dream was always to own a Bookstore like Haslam's. I loved the smell of the old and new books. I completed my Mother's 1940's collection of Bobbsey Twin, Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books at Haslam's. We always left with an armload of cherished used and new books. Last summer I returned to Haslam's with my 82 yr old Dad in tow and my 12 and 17 yr old children. They too were mesmerized by Haslam's and also caught the reading bug. I am proud to report that Haslam's still provides the same great service and wide selection for ALL tastes. We left each with our grocery bag of great finds of used, new, hardbound and paperback books. A true cornerstone of St Pete and one of the best used and new bookstores in the U.S. Haslam's History link: http://www.haslams.com/history.htm Please check the Haslam's Bookstore Website for further information: http://www.haslams.com/ more

Browsers delight! 11/29/2005

Haslam's has been a St. Petersburg fixture for years and years, and finally has an absolute ton of parking to match the crowds. They know books, and if you are looking for a new book, an used book, or a rare book, odds are good they'll have it or can get it for you. The books are well categorized, and the multi room facility makes it seem "comfy" for browsing. The personnel are very knowledgeable and willing to help if you need it, but best of all in a book store - you can wander and browse at will. Not your "big box" bookstore, but rather a local institution that goes out of its way to serve it's customers, Haslam's is a great stop for the book lover. more

Huge selection of New & Used Books 8/21/2005

Don’t come to Haslam’s looking for an upscale shopping experience. This no-frills store isn’t much more than walls, floor and ceiling, but it is packed to the brim with stacks and stacks of new and used books. Unbelievable selection! Filled up to the ceiling! The used books are in good condition. Prices are reasonable. This store is unbeatable for true book lovers! more

Walls and Walls of... 8/19/2005

Walk through the massive corridors of new and used books at this bibliophiles heaven. Haslam's has so many books, it is almost too many. If you can't find what you are looking for here, maybe you don't deserve to find it. They offer excellent prices on all of their new and used books, plus many times you can find autographed copies. For a truly unique experience, skip the large chain book retailers and head to Haslam's. more

A Local Favorite 8/6/2005

This is a local landmark in St Petersburg. When I moved to Florida, it seemed like once people knew I liked books, everyone I knew told me I had to come to this store. It is a good store, but I didn't understand all of the enthusiasm. It is a used book store with a very wide selection. more

Amazing... 8/4/2005

This is one of the biggest used bookstores I've ever seen. It's organized fairly well - but not so well that you won't find unexpected treasures around every corner. The prices are reasonably, but it's great to just spend some time and wander around. They also have some semi-rare books for sale and on display. Here's a little bonus: If you enjoy Haslam's and play Doom, visit their Web site - they have a special level of Doom set inside Haslam's. more

Florida's Largest Bookstore 7/20/2005

Haslam's is known as "Florida's largest new and used bookstore", and believe me you can get lost in this place! With over 300,000 books (very neatly organized) you could be spending a lot of time here browsing around. Haslam's bookstore has been around forever, in fact it was established in 1933, and is located down central avenue close to the stadium. If there is a specific book that you can't find anywhere else, there is a good chance Haslam's has it. more

  • Over 60 years ago, John and Mary Haslam started a small used book and magazine store in St. Petersburg. Over the years it grew to be Florida's largest new & used book store. Now, in our third generation, we are starting a second location... in cyberspace. After all, if we are going to have a second location, why not put it everywhere?

Editorial
  • Size Does Matter
If you can't find a book here, you probably won't find it anywhere. Take your time browsing through two large rooms filled with a wide but more-or-less standard...
