I went Hait & Kuhn in May of 2013 to review an uncontested divorce. My consultation was with Liz Kuhn. She did an excellent job reviewing the uncontested. She explained some things and I determined I was getting a pretty raw deal. So I had my (now) ex-wife served with a contested divorce. It was a long and tough road but Hait & Kuhn was really there for me. We all worked very hard. I mediated joint custody but when my ex tried to move our daughters hundred of miles away, I was given my options and we ended up modifying custody. I, as a man, ended up the custodial parent of my daughters! There were several hearings and we rigorously prepared for each and every one. The staff I interacted with, Ali, Carly & Whitney, are also professional and courteous; I never thought I would enjoy a pretrial meeting! The best thing I can say about Alex, Liz and all their team is they were the thread that sewed my family together. First they helped me obtain custody of my grandchildren, then adoption. I could never repay the kindness and hard work they all have shown me. It is difficult with adoption period, but for a grandmother it is even harder. I must say I definitely got benefited by hiring them. Most important of all, their team was available for me round the clock. Whenever I asked a very important question, I sure got the response no matter what day and time it was. That gave me lot of confidence. My advice for anyone would be to do their homework and feed information to them as needed. Also, ask questions and set a specific goal. Then they will work on it. In my case I sent lot of emails..but later thought a visit could have saved lot of email communication. I did not go to court, but if I had to go to a court then I am confident that they would have given a tough fight for me. I am sure some have had a better experience then I did with this firm. It took every ounce of strength to file for divorce from my abusive husband. They took total advantage of the pain I was experiencing. My initial visit the promised me they would be able to get everything I needed done especially since I was a stay at home mother and completely dependent on my husband that abandoned us. With little trust I has after the abuse I insured for years they left me out to dry. At my first hearing they sent a very inexperienced attorney that didn't show up with the right paper work nor was it filed correctly and the judge threw us out of the court. It was so humiliating. There I was with no temp order for money, child custody or visitation. I my self had to stand in the hallway of the court house and work it out with my husband on a scratch piece of paper. I didn't have just one attorney on my case, I had an entire team. Liz is a straight shooter and will tell you exactly what she thinks even if it's hard to hear. Domestic issues are very difficult because of all the emotion involved and Liz would always try to bring me back down to earth and make sure my expectations were reasonable. I just love my bankruptcy attorney. She's very professional and treats me very well. Apparently there are a lot of people filing bankruptcies at this firm (for good reason). I just logged on here after watching 2 people charge into the office demanding to see an attorney because of some mail they got. For both, the staff handled it swiftly, from what I could see, but MAN are these people scary! It seemed like these people used to be powerful and make a lot of money and now having to file chapter13. One guy next to me threw a magazine because he couldn't file a 7 and it had to be a 13. I have been a client of Alex's for many years as things have approched my life. I have worked with Kent for PI and had Alex/Liz handle my divorce/child custody and modification cases. \r \r I was pregnant and the same car hit me twice from behind. Kent and his staff handled things wonderfully. They were fair in their fees and my only worries through that case were the fears of delivery. I felt like my case was a joke, I had to call twice to find out what was going on with my case. I felt like it was set on a back burner at one point. My Lawyer? I think I had a lawyer, most of the time she was so hard to get in touch with I felt like I didn't have a lawyer.I know of 2 other people with similar cases as mine and they both told me their lawyers were right their with them from day one. Mine never did show up with me in court. I was passed on to an assistant who I met for maybe one second before she represented me. This assistant didn't have all the documents I sent them, and the second time I had to go back to court because of missing documents this assistant passed me on to another assistant!! If you've ever heard the phrase, "jack in the box lawyers" this is where they reside.
