Bad experience.- Fire that hostess! 5/9/2011

Really bad experience for mother's day dinner. The hostess was very rude. We got a table outside but it was very cold and windy and we asked for a table inside. The hostess was very unfriendly and didn't want to move us inside eventhough there were many empty tables and we did not have our food yet. We waited a long time for the waitress to take our order, never got any bread/butter even though we asked for it several times. Food was ok but very expensive for what we got. Overall it is not a good place at all for dinner. Would not recommend it. more

Terrible service, the worse in this side of LA 5/23/2010

This is one of those places that when it is is empty the waitresses kiss your ass to the point of pestering, and when it's full they ignore you and let you know they are ignoring you. If that's their pathetic way to get back at their customers who obviously are better off than them, can't be good for business. Mgmnt. should retrain these characters. Sometimes super hot personnel tend to fend off wondering eyes in that manner, but at this restaurant each one is worse looking than the other. Can't really understand why the behavior. Anyway, the best way to alleviate this type of problem in an establishment as this is to never set foot again. Bartenders are not better, specially that older one who looks to be pissed off all the time (smile a little for goodness sake). Pros: Nice patio Cons: Witresses, bartenders more

Classy yet casual, no more food problems, great promos every night! 2/25/2009

This place is great -- it covers all the bases. You can wear a t-shirt or dress up, sit in the bar or dining room, or the best part, the outdoor patio. It's all great. Loose and casual atmosphere, but not in a TGI Friday's kind of way. Very classy.\r \r Admittedly, this place had some food issues but in the last few times these issues seem to have been resolved. They have great promotions, like half price bottles of wine on Wednesdays, and (my favorite) 2 for 1 martinis on Tuesday. I guess I've been lucky with the service, I've never had a problem other than maybe the food taking longer than it should.\r \r The patio is the only one in the area that has outdoor dining with alcoholic beverages (a must!). And sitting around the firepit with a glass of wine is just the best! more

IMPRESSIVE 1/24/2009

I love going out to dinner. I love atmosphere and great service, food and wine are passions. When I went to HT grill in redondo beach, I recieved all those things, and at a reasonable price. I went on a wednesday night for dinner and discovered they have what they call ""wine down wednesdays"", which gave me and my friends half off any bottle of wine under $50 bucks. Awesome right! I had the halibut and it was very refreshing, not overly spiced or sauced, you could actually taste the fish, very fresh! One of my friends had the rib eye steak, and it was amazing. I'll probably order that the next time I go there. I looked into other specials they had, Tuesday Martini night is buy one get one free (i'll be there for that). Simply put, I WILL BE BACK! They did a great job from the moment I entered! Thank You HT Grill, you got a fan! Pros: FOOD & ATTENTIVE STAFF! Cons: There's only one! more

Heinous cuisine 1/18/2009

My experiece with this joint was heinous....the bartender was obviosly drunk and completely disrespected my daughter...while he made our drinks, We overheard him berating and disrespecting us...at one point we heard him say, ""chinga those dirtbreaths"", and he also was letting it be known that he wanted to give away our table to another server.....The filet Mignot was way overcooked and I wished that Gordon Ramsey could come up in their grill and show them how to cook......This place caters to drunks and cougars who only eat twice a week.....Paul Hennesey is no fool..He is a smart and savy buisness-man......but He has built His empire upon booze, not food...but I am truly from Ireland, and his food is neither Celtic nor Gaelic, and his Niche is in liquids.....and His mind thinks only in numbers.........it is a shame that some drift so far from the Homeland.........Sinn Fein.............there is great food on the Island green Pros: dirty martinis Cons: bad service more

Overrated in the South Bay 12/26/2008

HT Grill is lucky to have such a great location to attract throngs of customers at lunch and specially at dinner time. The last two times I visited the restaurant has ended up in the food always falling short in terms of taste and originality. With the price they are charging, I was definitely expecting more. The calamari was not tender at all. I have to work my jaw to get it broken into pieces. The spinach dip and chips looked very muck like store-bought (and tasted too). The orange roughy was very salty one time, and the salmon was overcooked another time. As well, the waitress kept forgetting the drinks that were ordered. The place suffered from overconfidence in having the location as the magnet to draw the crowds but do not have the food to match the location. A disappoinment to say the least, I have given up on this place. Save money and go somewhere else. Pros: Location - stone throw from the ocean Cons: Food terrible more

Great place to have some good beer, great appetizers and impressive entrees 7/27/2008

I have been going to HT Grill for a year now and have yet to be disappointed. Yes, the prices are a little on the expensive side, but I completely enjoy the ambiance and the service. I have fallen in love with the baked brie appetizer. It is warm brie covered in a lemon butter sauce (or so we were told). Inside the brie are shaved apples and walnuts. They used to give you crackers with it, but have been serving it without them lately. The salads are reasonably sized and though they are good, they have yet to be the reason I go back. I have tried the filet mignon tower- I like my meat rare and they always deliver. If someone is not a red meat person, my favorite dish of all is the parmesan-crusted salmon. It comes with a miso dressing, garlic mashed potatoes (amazing), and green beans/mixed veggies. The only bad experience I had with this dish was when I ordered it to go. I wouldn't recommend it as everything kind of mixed together and the fish was overcooked. I also have to say that my friend was NOT a fan of the meatloaf and had to send it back. The whitefish with spinach and mushrooms was light and satisfying. They have a more-than-sufficient wine menu and a great selection of beers. Go here knowing that you will have a solid meal and a good beverage selection. It is not a five-star steakhouse, but you will enjoy yourself. Pros: food, ambiance, drinks Cons: price more

Terrible food 4/11/2007

Don't go there for the food or you will be disappointed... The patio is nice on a sunny day, but next time, I'll just get a beer and go somewhere esle to eat something. Pros: Large Patio Cons: the food more

Food OK - Service was full of Attitude and Ineffecient 7/22/2006

We were seated in the bar of this attractive restaurant. The waiter ignored us for 10 minutes and was unfriendly and full of attitude. He finally asked us if we wanted something to drink. After bringing the drinks, he just left. I watched him circle the area 10 times; finally, i asked if we could order. The food was average.\r \r I wouldnt eat there again due to the unfriendly attitude of the waiter. He ruined the experience with his unprofessional behaivor. Cons: Horrible, unfriendly service more
