Guitar Stringer Music Store

I've been playing and buying guitars since 1992. I went there for an acoustic, but was impressed by their inventory of both electric and acoustics. I gave the old man the price range I was looking for, and he quickly showed me the several to choose from and particular features of each. Luckily I found a beautiful guitar for a bargain. If you're wary of the Guitar Center experience (teens wanking at loud volumes, overeager sales guys, etc.), I would recommend them. I went on a Saturday, and a few other customers came and went, but it was still quiet. They have used and new, but the used aren't junk. That being said, they're still a relatively small shop (at least compared to GC), so they wouldn't necessarily have as much to choose from, or may not have rock bottom prices on accessories and whatnot. Still, to me it seems they focus on quality, not quantity. So I would highly recommend this store, and next time I need a guitar, I'll be stopping there first. I always enjoy visiting GS. Mr Stringer is an acoustic guitar genius and both him and his son are very knowledgeable and helpful on equipment and guitar setups. If you think the prices are a few dollars more than larger venues then purchase from one and you will spend the money saved on setups. I know because it happened to me in 1989 and ended up at GS, a place that knows how a Strat should be setup and have purchased and visited there since. They will sell you nothing that can't be worked on or trash. Mr Stringer has been known to send stuff back to the mfg if it don't pass his inspection and it then probably ends up at Walmart or one of the larger Shops. If you want a quality instrument and true knowledge of equipment and a place that don't just sell to get a sell but wants customer satisfaction is Guitar Stringer. Only Mom and Pop or Son and Pop places will give it to you straight and that's why I buy, trade and sell with these guys. Pros: More parking is now availabe alone with an added section in the near future Cons: Not a large selecton of amps, but will order what is needed more

This place is so hard to have a good time at. Today I went there to get a set of strings, thats the only thing I buy from these grumpy old guys. They act like they hate you for coming in. I told the guy I have a telecaster he says all the things he can think of of why a telecaster is not a good guitar. I told him I have a sweet tube amp he says tube amps are not any good, they are to heavy, they cost to much. Then one time I went there to buy a Boss pedal he says boss is no good they cost to much. Every time I go there its you don't know squat about nothing. I hate going there. Only for strings cause its close. And his prices are way to high. Tries to tell you what you need not what you want. Then when you say I like this he tells you why your wrong why you should buy what HE tells you to buy. No wonder his son is in such a bad mood all the time. If you want the real deal on Guitar stuff and real service go to Rocking Robin on Shepard drive thats where the real players go. If you like being told your wrong on all you choices go to Guitar Stringer. Pros: Not ever busy Cons: Grumpy guys work there more
