Thank goodness for Elite Feet 1/26/2012

I am a short distance runner recently converted to a long distance runner, and in the past year I've encountered quite a few obstacles that Elite Feet has addressed for me. Their staff is professional and knowledgeable, and they're great listeners. I practically crawled into this store with plantar fasciitis that had become so bad I could barely walk, and a knee that burned with every step. (I'm a grad student, and I was trying to avoid spending a lot of money at an orthopedist, honestly. They were my last ditch effort to ""fix myself"". Disclaimer: they're NOT doctors.) They took their time with me, assessed my gait, and tried at least 8 different pairs of shoes with me. I left with some immediate relief, and am now happy to say I show no symptoms. When I temporarily deviate from the shoes they've suggested for cuter running shoes, my pain restarts. Contrary to a lot of reviews on here, I felt like my comfort level mattered much more to them than a ""hard sell"". As for the restocking fee, they have it clearly posted. Some patrons may not find it fair, but I say shop somewhere else if you don't want to take that $20 risk. It's made clear everywhere, including in writing at the register. People may not agree with the fee, but I don't think they're dishonest about it. Anyways, just my two cents. They may not be a miracle for everyone, and they don't replace a real doctor, but they really know their running stuff. They're the only place I'll buy running shoes until I move away from KC. :) more

rude and overated 2/21/2011

These people seem to be rude and act deaf when you try to ask a question. They put on this act on about looking at your feet and having you walk.they hard sell and the merchandise is dirty and possibly used. when you return an item they charge a restocking fee of 20.00.It must be for the walking course and to buy the foot spray like on bowling shoesI guess. more

Did not know about the $20 return fee 10/27/2010

I went to Elite Feet at the recommendation of one of my friends. I try to buy from local merchants whenever I can. I thought the service was very knowledgeable, although I was feeling pushed to purchase a certain style and a certain color. When I called about returning them, I was told that to get a refund they would have to be in perfect condition (they are) and that I would be charged $20 to return. That is totally unacceptable. I told the salesperson I was going to take them home and wear them on the carpet. There was no mention of a fee. I won't be back. more

Great Fit 2/16/2009

I've been ""fit"" for running shoes a few times now. None of them had gotten it right until elite feet. They asked about my running habits and any injuries I've had, then I told them what I was using and how it was wearing. They had me walk in my socks to view my stride and how my foot landed. They brought out a few pairs of shoes and I tried all of them on. They gave recommendations about fit and explained why one thing would work better than another for me. I tried on about 4 pairs of shoes until I found one that I liked. Then I must of tried on three sizes until I found the one that worked for me. It was nice having someone go over a product in a technical way with me, much better than just handing me something and saying ""here is the size and color you wanted."" They know their stuff and were very patient, even though the store was quite busy and I came in with a few friends that ended up getting shoes too. \r \r The only possibly negative thing I could say is that their prices are right at MSRP. I feel the knowledge I gained and the very professional experience I received made up for any difference in price. I'll be back for sure. Pros: Excellent customer service, very knowledgeable staff, cute dog in the shop Cons: Price is average at best more

Caveat emptor! 6/3/2008

I feel compelled to write because my story is so much the same as ""horrible experience"". I will spare you all the details, but it suffices to say that I suffered the very same ending and am also stuck with a $100.00+ pair of shoes that Elite Feet will not return. I let them talk me in to these, all the while explaining to them that I could feel my heel slipping (which is narrow) and that I thought they were too wide. The answer......lace them tighter! I should not have listened to them when I knew they didn't feel right. They padded here and they padded there with socks and insoles and $200.00 later I left with my brand new shoes. I took them home and wore them on the rug as they suggested and when I returned to say that they were not right, they insisted that they were and I could not return them. What a shabby business practice, pressuring customers while pretending to be an authority on fit. I had previously thought this experience was unique to me. Shame on Elite Feet, I was spoken to so rudely upon returning that I will never return again. Caveat emptor! Cons: rude employees more

foot saver 2/29/2008

As a long time runner with frequent foot problems, I was directed to Elite Feet by my pediatrist. Elite Feet explained their fitting procedure after I arrived, making clear that they pick the shoe based on my foot needs. They are in business to help fit your feet properly. They work with each customer from anywhere from 30 to 60 min. the first visit. If you buy shoes based on looks or based on your preconceived notions about shoe brands---go to Finish Line or Foot Locker. If you want objective, knowledgeable, friendly service--go to Elite Feet. Pros: customer service, knowledge Cons: can be long lines on weekends more

horrible experience 9/26/2007

A few years back I bought a pair of running shoes from Elite Feet with no problems. I decided to go back there a few months ago and reluctantly let them sell me a pair of shoes I thought weren't right for my foot but they insisted they were, so I bought them. Long story short, I put them in my closet until I had my baby (5 weeks ago) and got them back out to get back into running. They were not comfortable at all so I went to try and return or exchange them. When I started insisting that I did not want the size they were trying to sell me, he said that I take it or leave it, because he wasn't going to refund my money...only exchange them. And, they were only going to exchange them for the shoes THEY thought I should have, NOT the ones I wanted. How ridiculous is that? I walked out of there unable to return my shoes because they REFUSED to sell me what I wanted. I can not believe that customer service like this existed. I've never been treated like this when trying to make a purchase. I am stuck with a $100 pair of shoes that I have never worn and will never be able to. What a shame they acted like that. more
