Best

Awesome food. I've been to all of the El Campesino locations but the Monroeville location takes the cake. Everything on the menu is fantastic. Enchilada and burrito sauces, salsa,...

how do you mess up a tamale and enchilada? They seem to have no basic cooking skills. All the fake ""Mexican"" atmosphere in the world can't make up for a basic lack of a decent e...

Horrible 1/23/2012

This place was horrible. The food was 3 ingredients slopped on a plate and not even cooked through. I sent it back. I told the server I'd like to pay for my drink and leave, but another man came out and I was threatened with a "fight" if I didn't pay for the food I sent back. Needless to say, I'm never stepping foot in that place again. more

Excellent food! 10/24/2005

At El Campesino, the service is always fast and reliable. The food is hot and SO tasty. This is one of my all time favorite restaurants. One of their specialties are the enchiladas. This place is ideal for lunch because they serve you so quickly. The homemade salsa and chips are delicious. The staff always have a smile on their faces and they aim to please. It also offers a family feel. more

Good mexican 10/21/2005

One of the best places that i've been to in PIttsburgh. Not saying a whole lot though. There aren't many good places to choose from. But I would saw this is the best. Good prices, good food, good portions. Well worth a trip. more

OK Mexican food for this far north... 8/10/2005

I should preface this review by saying I've lived in Texas and find the Mexican food up here sadly lacking. I had high hopes for this hole in the wall restaurant. After all, with an atmosphere this bad, the food must be great. I was a bit disappointed. The food wasn't overpriced but it wasn't dirt cheap either. It wasn't stellar though it was more authentic than other Mexican food I've had here. Overall, it's not bad, it's not great...it's just okay. more

  • The Scene
The dining room is simple, with little decoration. People don't come here for ambience, but rather for good Mexican food in large quantities at low prices.
