El Amigo Mexicano

El Amigo has the best Mexican food I've had at very reasonable prices! They have quite large proportions too! It is 100% authentic and everything they have is home-made! It is family owned and the environment is very friendly! I've been a customer for many years and have never had a problem. My personal favorites are their burritos, cheese dip, guacamole, enchiladas,&shrimp fajitas.They have locations in Valparaiso & Portage, IN too. By far best Mexican food in the Region! more

I have been to Mexico several times and come from a mexican background. There are far more bettermexican "joints" that deserve better credit then this place! SAVE UR MONEY! This is NOT Authentic Mexican Food and the food quality is below standard. The atmosphere in the restaurant is horrible, ALLOT of NOMADS and what looks like drug runs in and out. PAY ATTENTION & you will see. I ordered five meals and paid over $50.00 and all the food was horrible inlcuding the rice. more

We've been to Mexico several times and there doesn't seem to be a lot of Mexican Restaurants in this area that have what I would call Authentic Mexican Food. El Amigo is as close as we've found! I don't think there is anything on the menu that we've tried that we didn't like. Burritos, Tacos, Tortas, Enchiladas, Chimichangas, Tamales, etc....they have all been good. The atmosphere in the restaurant is busy. Several booths and a couple of tables and a small counter with stools. This place does A LOT of take out business and that's usually how we do our orders, too. Just call ahead, place your order and it's ready when you get there. The food is not expensive. They have a cooler inside that has glass bottle pepsi's and coke's available (I've stopped in several times just to buy a soda as it always tastes better in glass bottles than cans or plastic bottles). They have great hours, too! Open til 2:00 AM!!! more

Do not let their prices fool you. El Amigo has very good, authentic mexican food. They give you nice size portions, and their burritos are one of the best items on the menu. With your burrito you get a bag of home made tortilla chips along with 2 different kinds of sauce. You can dine in, although they do not have a very big seating area. You can also call in your order and it is usually ready by the time you arrive. more
