March 20th 2009, my mother’s birthday, we both were so excited because she was finally getting her new set of dentures. My mother and I departed Atlanta at 4:30 am Friday morning headed to Dixieland Dental, Midland City, Alabama. We had an 8 am appointment which was to last most of the day until her dentures were ready. Mother has both legs amputated and turned 71 years old that day.
Anyway, we were running a little late and decided to call Dixie land and let them know that we were about 42 miles outside of Dothan. This is when we were told that our appointment was not until the 24th of March and that the appointment time changed due to the fact that the part to my mother’s dentures had not arrived yet
All of our new information was given yet no one had a record of our new information. OK, so I gave the receptionist that informed me of our latter appointment all of the information over the phone…again. I turned around and headed back to Atlanta. I’d traveled back another 45 miles, when Dixieland Dental call and informed us that they had made a mistake and that my mother’s dental part had arrived and that if we would turn around and come back they would take care of us and get us out so we won’t have to make another trip to Alabama from Georgia.
OK, I turned around, got lost a bit and went another 10 miles out of the way because I was a bit disturbed and not feeling very excited anymore. I drove too far going south on highway 231 instead of going north.
Anyway, my mother called me and informed me that Dixieland dental were closing and that I needed to come back because everyone had gone and she was the only patient still there. My car was still being repaired because of the lug nut that was stuck and needed replacing. I talked to one of the employees and she informed me that they were not obligated to stay and wait on me. I asked her would she give me fifteen minutes and she said ok.
Well, I want to make it clear that the top parts of the dentures are too loose and the bottoms are too tight but mom refuses to even go to Dixieland Dental again. She said she will get a local dentist in Atlanta to fix her dentures even if it cost more. My mother’s birthday turned out to be a total nightmare and words cannot explain how I feel about Dixieland Dental. There a lot more to this than I’m allowed to write.
Pros: Sometimes they are nice
Cons: Sometimes they're not
