Great soda fountain! 2/16/2010

Having only spent time at the wonderful soda fountain, I can't vouch much for the rest of the pharmacy; but I can vouch for the soda fountain, which is why I give this review 4 stars. What a quaint idea -- a refreshing break from the world of corporate giants who follow the same formula, store to store. This throwback to the 50s, when most drugstores had soda fountains, not only is pleasing aesthetically and nostalgically, but also serves incredible shakes and malts. They dip the cup in melted chocolate, leave a bit of paper on your straw, and place a cherry on top of your shake all for a pleasing presentation (and of course, you can always scrape the chocolate off with your straw for an even more pleasing taste). The shakes and malts are well made, they have all the classic ice cream flavors as well as some more exclusive ones (kona coffee, or lemon meringue pie for example). The sandwiches are nothing too fancy, but they are tasty and not too expensive. If you're in the neighborhood, they'd make a great fresh, healthy (and yummy!) lunch or snack. The counters are nice, the spinning stools fun, and the staff are very friendly and sweet! All in all a great place to get lunch or a shake. Pros: Sweet staff, delicious food more

Times haven't changed! 12/4/2008

For as long as I can remember the DeSoto Pharmacy was a place that we as a family would shop weekly at. My mom was a very loyal customer (even when other, more value oriented pharmacies/stores would open) and continued to shop there for many years until . . . one time in 1974 (I was 11 at the time) while she was picking up her RX, I was browsing the candy aisle (all the while getting dirty, suspicious looks from the owner). I walked up to the front counter standing with my mother while she was making her purchase, the clerk with the owner standing behind the counter proceeded to verbally ream me about how I needed to fess up and hand over the supposed candy that they thought I had stolen. They said that they would not call the police if I would hand over the candy that I didn't have. Needless to say, after my mom got over the shock proceeded to verbally freak on them and said that she would never return to the store - of which she never did. more

Discrimitory practices 7/31/2008

I was at DeSoto Pharmacy on 7/31/08 with my child attempting to make purchases.... and out of no where the co- owner ( David) accused me of stealing. When he approached me he at no time identified himself and said " Excuse me can you help me ...I need to put the toothbrush back in stock. Can you help me. I saw you back there take a couple of items and I need you to put them back." \r \r My response of course was ....What are you talking about? Then I produced chopsticks that I'd gotten from a dinner. \r \r His response was simply "Oh" \r \r I then asked "I guess that that's an apology?"\r \r Then he stated "I apologize" I then asked if I could speak with the manager and who was the owner. David said that he was the manager an part owner. I asked him if that's the way that you treat all of your customers? \r \r \r I immediately called the pharmacy and asked for the other owners information. David stated that the store policy "to stop anyone we think may be leaving the store with merchandise" (Min more

A neat neighborhood pharmacy 11/14/2005

This is a realy neat place to shop. They actually have an old-fashioned soda fountain inside the store, which also seels quick lunch type items. There is a full service pharmacy insdie the store as well. They have a nice section of gift selections. What I like is there sale section-they have some excellent deals on food and other items in the back of the store on the east wall. Look for their coupon book at the register when you first come in. I have been lucky enough to din items there at cheaper prices than I have seen elsewhere. more
