You have to make it happen, because they won't 4/30/2012

Buying a wedding dress is one of those rare special events, so my daughter went with me, her sister and a close friend to shop for the first time. First we went to a solicitous boutique that treated us like royalty, but in fact didn't find THE dress. We then went to David's, where we had registered earlier. No one was particularly interested in us, and eventually we were given an associate who already was working with two other brides. She wouldn't make eye contact, didn't ask us any questions and was completely uninterested in helping us. My daughter, very sweetly, asked to speak to the manager. She (very sweetly) asked the manager how many brides an associate usually worked with. Getting the answer 'two' she asked if perhaps she could have someone help her who was not split in so many pieces. The manager decided to take us on herself, and from then on it was heaven. She figured out my daughter right away, and found so many beautiful dresses that she loved. She accessorized (we bought it all) and then painstakingly went through all the brides maids options. I don't know what my daughter said or did that turned them around. I was all ready to walk out the door. My daughter scolded the rest of us, and said that a great dress could be found anywhere, and we shouldn't act like such princesses. Trying on is quite a public display, with three or four brides stepping out of public cubicles at a time. I was at first horrified, but it turned into a love fest, with everyone commenting on each other's choices, and cheering on each bride (and Mother!) We left hugging each other, and ready to come back for the fitting. Our fitting is tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes! more

Disappointing David's 11/12/2011

My daughter was married yesterday, and everyone raved at how stunning she looked. I have to say that, even though we got her gown at David's, the compliments were in spite of David's, not because of them. We started out with one consultant, didn't buy, and when we came back the second time, found she no longer worked there! The second consultant could not have been more disinterested, but my daughter, her aunt, and I found the perfect gown for her. When we came back for 5 bridesmaids' gowns, she didn't acknowledge us. A charming tall dark haired young man did approach us, did a great job, and got our business. The alterations department was the worst of the lot. Virtually everyone we spoke to can only be described as superior-sounding and snotty. The bustling was done with large, clear, very obvious-looking buttons, 7 of them, and when we were unhappy with the look, were told that no one looks at that anyway. We did end up with small fabric-covered bustle buttons, but the appropriate response SHOULD have been, ""Ma'am, we appreciate your business; you are absolutely right; we will take care of the problem right away."" more

Take some initiative! 12/23/2010

I'm glad I didn't read any of the reviews on here before I went to David's Bridal in Glen Burnie to look for my dress! My experience with the associates and service at this store were very different from the negative reviews posted here. I think a lot of women go into dress shopping with a princess mentality and want more from a store than what it is: a STORE where one must shop for what one wants. Half the fun of my experience was going through racks of dresses with my mom and axing most of them. It IS supposed to be a fun experience, but only if you make it one. Regarding my own experience (which was fantastic), I started off the right way by making an appointment ahead of time to make certain that someone would be available to help me (I can't imagine why some would not do this); I had also already completed registration online prior to the appointment so that was all taken care of. My associate, Molly, was wonderful! She was sweet and sincere and seemed genuinely to care about my satisfaction with my dress (she also respected my limited budget, which I liked). She was very involved in my searching process and helped me with every dress, even going so far as to fetch veils and flowers for me to try on. Even when I had found my dress, I was still feeling unsure and wanted to look elsewhere, so Molly gave me her card and absolutely no pressure. When I returned to David's several weeks later, Molly immediately recognized me and immediately found the dress I had tried on last time. Again, I found the customer service to be pretty outstanding and walked out completely satisfied and received my dress a week later. I could not have been more satisfied with my experience! I recommend making an appointment ahead of time and going into the situation with a sense of fun and you'll have no problems whatsoever. more

Not the Best 12/8/2010

My first time shopping in a bridal store was not great. Upon entering the store, I was greated with an associate. I did all the paperwork and was told I had to wait for my associate. After waiting about 30 mins, I was finnaly called back. I must say my associate did help to find dresses of my taste and style and lots of them. I was given a slip and a bra to try on and after trying on my first dress which I thought was beautiful, my associate was nowhere to be found. Luckily I had my mom and MOH with me to help mw tighten the dress and make sure the fit was ok. After about 7 dresses she finally arrives and ask ""hows it going?"" Yeah.... so after trying on all the dresses and making a final descision without my associates help. I moved on to looking for bridesmaid dresses in which I had no help with either. Everytime I come to the store I have a different associate and they never know what Im talking about or what Ive discussed with the previous associate. Ive waited a long time for an associate every visit. And after the first visit I have gotten better service, but I still wasnt impressed. Maybe Ive been watching too much of ""Say yes to the Dress."" I must say it can be much better more

Horrible 5/1/2008

I walked into DB in Glen Burnie, MD and was reluctantly greeted by two store associates. They bickered over who should help me. When I asked for a particular neck line for a bridal gown, the attendent stated that they only had strapless dresses, and proceeded to show me bridesmaid dresses; when in fact, I was looking for a bridal gown. I looked for myself, and immediately found two dresses with the neck line I was looking for, with no help from the associates. When I asked to try them on, another associate rolled her eyes and me and stated that I would need to complete a registration form. After 10 min, another associate came to assit me, but did not ask how the dresses fit, nor attempted to assist in any way. It was a complete waste of time and a horrible first experience for trying on dresses. Cons: Everything more

Search Yourself 4/27/2008

My daughter is getting married and wanted to check out David's in Glen Burnie for bridesmaid gowns. I recalled the horror 13 years prior when getting my bridal gown from the same shop, but abliged my daughter. We entered the store, wasn't very busy, but was immediately told that if we were not ordering the gowns that evening, someone else would need to assist us. Meanwhile, we began our search, only to learn that our associate was in the back eating as I tried on the first gown. Left frustrated, I began walking around searching for gowns myself to try on. We were never checked on again, and finally left the store very frustrated. We ultimately went to Niko's in Baltimore City and found the service, selection and prices fit quite well. I recommend not wasting time at David's. Pros: Wide range of sizes Cons: Service, Attitude more

Lousy Customer Service 4/23/2008

My experience with David's Bridal wasn't a good one; and isn't it supposed to be an exciting time for a bride to be to pick out her wedding dress? If you're looking for that, don't shop here. Since I live a good distance from DB, I decided to call first to see if they had the dresses I saw on the webiste in the store, the woman acted like I was wasting her time and said No and to call back at the end of the month. Something told me to call back a few days later, and this other woman told me they had the dresses in stock, so I made an appt. with Phyllis-who stood me up, didn' t show up at all. I then had to talk to a different consultant (Susan)that just showed me where the dresses where and left me alone. Things changed once ""corporate"" came into the store, she suddenly wanted to try veil's on me and jewelry and had no quams about telling me it was because corporate was watching them. With little help from the staff found the dress I wanted, I had to order an extra long one which they told me would take no longer than 12 weeks to come in and they would call me when it did. 12 and a half weeks passed and I had to call them to find my dress. Just today I went in to pick up my dress and the woman just handed me the dress and that was it. I looked at the dress and could not tell if it was the long one I ordered and wanted to make sure, I asked her if I could try it on and she sent me back to the dressing rooms alone-and I had to find an open stall. I thought they would have me do a second fitting to make sure everything was right and suggest alterations if need be. None of this happened!!! Picking out your wedding dress is supposed to be a milestone in a Bride's life; instead I can rate my experience closely with a cheap diner with buffet style food --you get crappy service and you have to do everything yourself. It is too bad all the reviews are the same on here, management should really look at these and make some changes! If you can find another store-go there!!!!!! Pros: The store is big and does have a lot of dresses Cons: the worst customer service I've ever seen more

Left feeling confused..... 11/17/2007

I went to David?s thinking I would get great service and find the gown of my dreams. What I got was a different story. The young woman at the front desk didn?t even acknowledge me entering the store, even when I walked to her desk. I had to ask for help and where the plus size gowns were located. She replied by saying along the wall. Therefore, I had to look through the rows of heavy gowns alone. No one ever asked me if I needed any help as they walked past me. Then the one girl I did ask for help replied, ""I don't know"" and walked off. I did however manage to get a card from the woman at the counter who told me to call and make an appointment. WOW!I have never felt so unimportant and will not by my wedding gown from them nor will I recommend there service. Pros: Store was neat and clean. Cons: Limited plus sizes and poor costomer service. more
