come for dinner, stay late on saturday night for karaoke 1/27/2007

Come to cloverleaf for the best nachos and pizze in the area. We have been going now for about 10 years and love it. Come by yourself or with a big group and you won't be sorry. On Saturday nights there is karaoke and it is great. We are working to get it back on Fridays too. The more the merrier!!! The antipasto salads are great too. Pros: In general this is a great place Cons: None that I can think of except on saturday nights Karaoke could last later. more

Get a Carryout 4/5/2006

The pizza here is great, but you're better off taking it home to enjoy. When we initially entered, we stood there while 1 server, 1 hostess and 2 bussers looked at us and continued their personal conversations. After we ordered and got our food, the server offered a takeout box (I was on my 1st magnificent slice), this while putting the check down on the table. UH HMMM-------DESERT? maybe ......PLEASE????? Guess she should have had a clue, since my daughter was standing up by the forgotten dessert tray drooling. I got my daughter a sundae, and since it never occurred to the server to ask ME if I wanted dessert, I got mine to go. I have felt so rushed. This was early on a weeknight, so there was no line. I love the food here, and very rarely have the time to go out, so it truly was disappointing. Pros: Excellent Pizza, whipped cheesecake Cons: poor service more

Going Home 10/25/2005

Living just at the opposite end of Wilson, I grew up running the streets of East Detroit (was a name change really necessary?), and eating pizza (on special occasions) from The Cloverleaf. It's been 30 years since I moved away and, each time I visit the area, I indulge in the smells, tastes and surroundings of my childhood. Thanks for enduring through the years, and giving me just one more reason to come home! Pros: I'm HOME!, The STAFF, The PIZZA Cons: Kidding Right? more

The best pizza in the world! 6/13/2005

My sister's boss took us to Cloverleaf more than 40 years ago. It was an epiphany in eating then and remains a sacred experience today. Normally when I come back to Detroit for a visit, it is the only item on my agenda above visiting family. What makes it so special is that it breaks my personal pattern of preference. Normally I'm not a big tomato sauce guy, but the first bite into the Leaf's chewy-cheesy sauce is, well, mystical. A slice belongs on the list of reasons to keep living... Pros: the taste, the taste, the taste more

nothing beats the original 5/18/2005

Not only is the Cloverleaf Bar and Resturaunt know for their long standing of serving the best pizza in town but also as a community friendly place to meet. Many benefits have been held here and now they are also known for orchestrating the Gratiot Cruise. Cruise on in and share what is the best place in town....also has a patio for summer outdoor dining and watching the cars on gratiot and an indoor area just for kids! Grate place for a date or the whole family.................seems like this review still says it all Pros: great pizza, full menu, community friendly Cons: uuuuummmmmm??, aaaaaahhhhhhh???, hhmm..nope cant think more

Cloverleaf Pizza is the best. Period 4/26/2005

First went to the Cloverleaf when it was a small bar with the entrance was on Gratiot Ave. Probably in 1979 or 1980 and have been a regular ever since. I'm a bit of a Pizza freak and usually have two a week. But--Cloverleaf is by far the best available in the Detroit area. It's deep dish with great crust and taste. Buddies is a close second but only from their Conant location. I often go there for lunch and sit at the bar and talk to Granny (Sharon) the bartender. She's as much a fixture as the renouned Pizza they serve. Try it-- Pros: Pizza, Pizza more

I grew up in Eastpointe (East Detroit) and when I made a rare return to the area from Arizona, the first place I ate was the Leaf. Absolutely great, and I wish you'd franchise out in Phoenix. Never go away! Pros: Pizza, salads, etc... Cons: yeah, right! more

Family place to be 5/31/2003

It is a family style/type of restaurant. In warmer weather they have ""under the canopy"" seating. On Sundays they have a an after church services brunch buffet. Prices are reasonable, the portions are more then adequate. Pros: Smiling servers, No long wait, Average pricing Cons: inadequate parking, can get crowded more

Cloverleaf is the BEST! 7/29/2002

I've been going to Cloverleaf practically every week of my life. It is a family tradition. I can never get enough of that special pizza. Buddy's is nothing compared to the 'Leaf The owner of the Cloverleaf originated Buddy's! Try it and you'll never go back Pros: Great Food, Great Location, Outdoor Patio more
