Great Shop in a Small Town. 3/16/2010

I have taken several watches there, an omega that dates back pre-ww2 and a longines that was my grandfather, they do great work, are reasonably priced, and old-school. I saw the review relating to their service and I wanted to offer an opinion. It is a small shop in a very small town, its the type of place that you say, "Hey, im looking for x item, I dont see any out, do you have any?" and you would be surprised how many times out of the back of the store or in one of the safes comes something close to what you are looking for. I wouldnt say it was a great jewelry store, however I know several people who have bought or had rings made and with great results, its the type of place that you ask, and they deliver . . . sometimes you have to wait, regardless of gender. . . because their primary business is restoring, reselling, jewelry and watches. . . more

Best Watchmakers & Jewelers With Fair Prices and a Love of Their Work & Customer 8/25/2008

Charlie and his "boys" not only are the friendliest jewelers in town (and I've been to them all from 4th Street to Montgomery) but they know watches better than anyone in the Midwest. I've had several Rolexes, Omegas and even a couple of timepieces over 60 years old serviced by Charlie. In one case several watch makers told me that I should just sell the watch for gold as parts were nonexistent. Charlie took the watch and although it took a few months, he found the parts and repaired a vintage piece to like new! Pros: Quality, pricing, service and ability to go the extra mile. Cons: They don't have a bunch of new models of watch but rather will have great deals on a select few, but they will find what ever you want. more

Great Service! 6/28/2008

I bought my soon-to-be-wife's engagement ring from Cleves & Lonnemann, and have also had several watches serviced at their store. Each time I've had great service and have been more than pleased with the results. The ring was custom made by Cleves and Lonnemann based on a diamond they had and a design they helped me find. \r \r Please read the full review below, the reviewer has also had great service at C&L but apparently misunderstood the reviewing system. more

Top-notch Watch Repair Expertise at Reasonable Prices 6/9/2008

When my wife and I moved to Northern Kentucky in mid-November 2006, one of the very first things I did was to visit the Cleves and Lonnemann Jewelers store located at 319 Fairfield Avenue in Bellevue, Kentucky. \r Why? Because my oldest brother had quite some time ago given me our now-long-deceased father's gold railroad watch (a Hamilton 5-position adjust movement) that has "May 1923" inscribed on the back of its case. Unfortunately, however, several jewelers had stated that the watch's internals were "all rusty" and couldn't be fixed. \r Finding such comments as wholly not acceptable, I decided to get the local watchmaker's opinion about the possibility of restoring this timepiece to working order. Once there, I left the family heirloom railroad watch at the store to have it examined and quoted for repair costs.\r Soon thereafter, I was excited to hear back from Charlie Cleves, owner of Cleves and Lonnemann Jewelers, that the Hamilton railroad watch could not only be repaired to good wo more

Very unfriendly owner & staff 2/18/2008

I happened into this store while shopping in the area. I would definitely not recommend it. First, the store is quite small. I am telling you this for two reasons -- first because the selection is not large but also because it would be impossible for the owner and staff to miss a customer walking in. But they managed to ignore me for a good 10 minutes before someone came to help me. The owner stood behind the counter and appeared more interested in a couple of men who wanted to sell/pawn items. As a female, I felt that this is basically a male oriented store -- kind of a throwback where I felt pretty uncomfortable. Finally, a clerk came and got out of the showcase the piece of jewelry that I wanted to see. He was not able to quote me a price, though. I had to then wait again for the owner to give me a final price. When the owner did finally come over to deal with me, he was very brusque and never gave me a smile or a "can I help you?" I don't expect to be treated with anything more
