After having dined at Chops for the last few years and taken many clients, friends and family there, our dining experience last night was more akin to Denny's than the usual Chops experience.\r \r There are times when you have to wait to be seated, especially when you have a later reservation. What you don't expect is to be treated to a verbal tongue lashing by the host when, after 15 minutes of your guests all standing in the lobby waiting, you ask politely for an update to the situation. Being told with disdain "Would you prefer to have me try to get the people at the tables to leave or have me stand here with you and chat?" set the mood for the entire evening. Three hostesses stood by in tight fitting clothes doing nothing... no updates, no effort whatsoever to make us feel like wanted patrons. \r \r Upon being seated 35 minutes late, it took our waiter 20 minutes to greet us at the table. He asked about our water preference as usual but there was something "off" about this waiter. He was not part of the usual staff and he had no personality nor did he ever confirm a guest's request with a verbal response. Just a nod and he was off. It seemed everyone was having a bad night which didn't give us much confidence for the meal ahead.\r \r The ambiance of Chops is usually eclectically noisy but this night's patrons were rude and obnoxiously loud, further enhancing the night's frustrations. The arrogant host continued to fly through the dining areas in some attempt to seat people and make apologies for the service and food to various tables. Now I was worried.\r \r Our drinks were served but my drink was placed on top of my menu, others had their drinks put by their elbows (just waiting to be knocked over), wine was about to be poured into fingerprint covered stemware... another dismal failure of service.\r \r Then we noticed that we had not been served any bread basket as is the usual at Chops. We waited patiently for our apps and our bread but the bread wasn't arriving. In fact, the waiters for our table were not to be seen at all. We asked our waiter to bring our bread basket and he nodded and left. Time passed and the appetizers had been served and eaten and we asked again for the bread basket. He nodded again and left. After five minutes, we flagged him down and he shyly admitted that Chops had run out of bread. He knew this as we sat down but he didn't want to have to tell us. He'd rather hope we didn't know about the bread or wouldn't notice. This type of immaturity is expected in a lower scale restaurant but NOT at Chops. He then said that some rolls were coming out of the oven and he would bring some but there would be no breads of any type. The rolls he did bring were too quickly cooked (overdone on the outside and almost raw inside). \r \r Our apps were served and appeared to be ok. My tuna tartare, instead of being finely minced, consisted of huge chunks of tuna destroying what has always been a fantastic app. Others' dishes were similarly reduced in quality.\r \r The main courses were served with the immediate sign of something dreadfully wrong in the kitchen. Each plate containing a steak was covered in juices that had left each steak. Steaks were either over-charred or under-charred with inconsistencies throughout each piece for doneness and tenderness. You pay top dollar for each steak at Chops and I have never had anything but a wonderful piece of meat that is masterfully done. The steak I had was gristly, making me leave sections of the steak uneaten. The char on my steak was very thick, leaving a charcoal taste with each bite but only on one side of the steak. The other side was tender, gristle free and not charred. Did two people trim and cook this steak? Others at the table had similar experiences.\r \r Needless to say we skipped dessert and coffee. If it weren't for our guests being very excited to try our favorite restaurant, Chops, we would have left prior to our being seated based on the attitude of the front of the house. Having stayed for dinner, we wish we hadn't. \r \r Having recommended Chops all these years as THE place to go for a guaranteed great experience, I won't anymore. Having patronized Chops for all these years, from now on, I won't. more

So we go to Chops this week walk in two hostesses are there and the manager is there and they are engaged in a conversation about what they want to eat tonight for staff dinner this goes on for 4 minutes while we just stand there. Food was good while the waiter was giving us the specials the same manager walks buy and trys to cram a paper into the waiters hand this totally screwed him up and he had to start over. No wondr why the service sucks because there leader the manger is a moron and has no clue. more

I have been there couple of times even though food was okay, service was not up to the standard of the food. I was ignored, other people's food came out before mine (I sat and ordered before them), & really felt that they only treat customers well when u look like a millionaire. more

Service was fantastic, menu deals even better. But. But my meat was inedible. I love salt. I'd make out with it if I could. But my steak was waaaaay over-salted. To the point where I didn't want to eat it. Instead, I wanted to take it to go, so I could RINSE IT OFF at home. Again, let me be clear, I love salty crispy well-seasoned meat, but this was worse than drinking gargle rinse from a paper cup, worse than taking a tumble on a rough day at sea and swallowing a bucket of ocean water (okay, minus any sea lice).\r \r I've been to Chops twice now, and both times it's been unremarkable, aside from the remarks I've made above. However tempted I am by the menu, I will not go back.\r \r Worse still, it was my birthday dinner. Which makes me a little sad. more

Chops Lobster Bar presents a mix of modern decor, eclectic live music, delicious food, and really good service. We went for the happy hour and was very pleased. There were good drink deals, and delectable food options. The setting is perfect for couples seeking to connect in an upscale ambiance. The pianist was entertaining and appeared to be in a vocal marriage with the singer. A perfect match. Chops offers a budget friendly steal for happy hour which is daily. Will update you all, when I actually go for dinner. more

Been 3 or 4 times the food sucks. Steak tartar is great. The steaks are underseasoned and over cooked. Confit of potato is suposed to be cooked tender not crunchy like and apple, its a potato. Brussel sprouts with raw barley cooked mushrooms not so good either more

Great food! Good happy hour. We ate in the bar on Friday before Valentines Day and the service was excellent. more

The 20 minute wait in spite of a reservation is highly irritating. The hostesses add no value and either stare at their pc screen or into space giving you no explanation of the delay and no confidence that you are going to get seated. The food was mediocre, at best, and certainly not deserving of the prices. Avoid the 'signature' flash fried lobster - it could be chicken or anything! The dessert menu looked encouraging but I didn't order as I couldn't bear any further disappointment. The service was efficient but there are basically lots of waiting staff looking stressed, flustered and a little disorganised. You struggle to hear your waiter above the hubbub of the room. I think this place is more about image than substance and it seems to be doing well on the back of it's past reputation. Swerve this place there's too many better choices. 'Top 10 steak restaurant in Florida' - I doubt it, or as they claim 'top 10 steak restaurant in the US' - no way!! more

Professional, friendly service and classic (delicious!) dishes- Chops is always a pleasing dining experience. Through the simplicity of the food preparation the quality of the ingredients really shines. more

I think it's funny how sophisticated the waiters act, but they put on a good act. The service was very good, the food was great. The atmosphere is very cool because they have a live band by the bar. It gives the place a better ambiance. I would request eating in the lobster bar room. The tiles on the ceiling are the same tiles they use at Grand Central Station in NY (So I am told). The Dover Soul was excellent and the surf and turf was amazing. Drinks are very good, I ate here twice and would go back again. more

Chops had not been reviewed for a while. So I thought you'd like to know that Chops - Boca Raton has a terrific happy hour. $5.00 glasses of wine (which are ok for the price) and other drink specials (vary). Most ppl I know aren't wine snobs like I am and I'll drink it. You also cannot beat the bar food menu prices and the service is terrific. Early evening they have live music. Small bar but cozy. See you there. more

A recent Friday night dinner was very disappointing. When the food (entree, vegetables, potato) was delivered, it came piecemeal, w no apology or explanation. Why a simple baked potato (poor quality) was delivered 5 minutes after the steaks was a mystery. Once the steaks were delivered, the server never returned to check whether we were happy w the cut, the quality, or temperature. In fact, my wife's steak was inedible, largely gristle. Once i flagged the server down, he returned the steak, and this time when it came back it was severely under cooked. He never checked w us the second time either, so he was flagged down again. The third time around the steak was fine, but by then I had long finished my meal and my wife had lost her appetite due to the serial delays. Then, to add insult to injury, we were charged for three steaks-like it was our fault the first steak was shoe leather- but were comped for one, giving the impression that we were taken care of when we were not. A manager had to be brought in to the conversation to adjust the bill. This was a very poor dining experience at an expensive venue. The servers were not attentive, nor accomodating. We will not be back. more

Best Steak in Florida! 6/16/2009

I was visiting friends in Florida, and they mentioned that they wanted a good steak. Since I'm from Atlanta, I knew that a company from up here had some restaurants in S. FL. Sure enough, Chops Lobster Bar was definitely worth the 40 minute drive to get there. We had made reservations (a good bet!) and they had our table waiting. \r \r Our server anticipated our every need and made great recommendations on everything from the cocktails to wine to food. The ""Gold Digger"" Martini is a playful cocktail and really tasty. All of their drinks sounded great. Then, the table picked a nice red wine to complement the steaks we all ordered. We never had to lift a finger and our wine / water glasses were never close to empty. \r \r I had the fried lobster tail (a favorite at some of their Atlanta locations) and it was everything I remembered. Crispy, not greasy at all, and the lobster was juicy and succulent. Then, I had a filet mignon with creamed spinach and mashed corn. It was all perfectly prepared the way I ordered it. \r \r I was stuffed, but managed to eat a few bites of the molten lava cake and it was SO good. Crisp on the outside and lava-y on the inside. Served with pistachio ice cream it was worth every calorie. \r \r I'd go back as often as I'm in town and would tell all my friends if they're in the area, it's a MUST. It's not inexpensive, for sure, but a really good value for what you get. Pros: Attentive service, Perfectly cooked steak, Fresh Seafood Cons: None! more
