Good: The space is wonderful. My daughter loves it there and asks to go nearly daily. The staff are wonderfully considerate and helpful. It is a great place to take children and their new facility is just awesome. They are planning on a roof top exhibit in the future.. Bad: You not suppose to bring coffee in; which for me, my child could spend the entire day there, so it would be nice to have a beverage. ;-) I also wish they had an a contracted baby sitter service that could play with your kids while you get some shopping done. I'm sure that is against some law or code though.. Improvements: I'd like to see the roof top exhibit come into realitiy for them. There has also been talk about expanded the facility to make room for more attractions. I also heard that there is talks to collaborate with a local technology company, I think Computer Source to bring about a high tech science exhibit.. Other: People reading reviews of this facility need to keep in mind that the Children's Museum of Skagit County had an entirely new facility created for them at the Skagit Mall, which the space is being leased to them for $1 a year. Their new space is wonderful and they have so many new attractions over what may have been there before in their Mt. Vernon location. If you haven't visited them in their new location you really need to.. more

Museum Review 6/15/2005

This Children's Museum is new to Skagit County. It has received a lot of attention and donations from local supporters, which has brought some neat exhibits. That's about the extent of the benefits, though. It is a very small space, and therefore there doesn't seem to be enough of a space for multiple ages. It is clearly a desirable place because it is almost always packed with people. But really, I believe it doesn't live up to what people want it to be. Truthfully, it doesn't seem adequate for any child over 5. Furthermore, the volunteers who run the front desk are not friendly towards the older kids. Also, the front door is constantly opening and shutting and there is no safeguard against little children "escaping" while there is a group entering or leaving. After trying an annual membership, I decided not to renew. more
