Expectations are a dangerous thing 10/18/2007

Expectations of a great meal led to a huge disappointment for the four of us. The ambience was lovely, nice decor, soft warm colors and the wall at the entrance, filled with restaurant awards led us to believe we were in for a treat. We were not. The foi gras appetizer was tasty but not extraordinary. The beet and goat cheese salad lacking flavor. The prawns were served over a tasteless risotto and although the portion was hefty, it was also lacking any zest. The Steaks were good along with a very good homemade steak sauce and herb pomme frittes which were also nice but the pork came overcooked (despite a request to the waitress to please make sure it was pink when served) and when it was returned to the kitchen it took an inordinate amount of time to come back out which was surprising as the restaurant was not very busy. the entrees were served without knives, the water glasses not replenished, the waitress could not identify the cheeses on our dessert platter and the platter was not served with any utensils, we had to request a knife and then received just one for the four of us. All in all it was a huge disappointment, not only the food but also the service which was one of the worse I have seen in years. There are other great restaurants in Moab, you can skip this one until they turn it around. Pros: Nice Ambience, very nice at the reservation stage Cons: Overated Food and Sloppy Service more
