An Oasis in the Madness of Sundance !! 3/12/2007

I LOVED THIS PLACE during Sundance. Forget the overpriced pseudo-bistros, the chi-chi sushi, the vanilla hotel food - the place is THE REAL DEAL !! A breath of fresh, clean (and truly local) air within the maelstrom of Sundance. Great service - I had three waitresses (not like that!) over the course of the week, and each of them was friendly, funny and made the effort to really connect with me, not just "sling burgers". The wings are the real draw here - and I now have Broken Thumb wing withdrawls. Does anyone know of a program to help me with this?!? Pros: Superb Food + Fresh Beer = THE Quintessential Sports Bar, Bar None. Cons: I can't find wings that good anywhere else !! They've ruined me for other bars! more

Worst restaurant experience of my life 1/29/2007

When I arrived at the Thumb there were some empty tables and I took one. I watched the waitress take orders from tables around me but she never came to mine. Finally I flagged down a waitress who seemed to be tailing the other one and she reluctantly took my order and brought me a glass of water. 10 minutes later she came back to ask if anyone else had taken my order and I said no.(??) She asked what I'd like on the side of my burger and then disappeared behind the bar. As the place filled up I invited a couple of women to share my table (they had found chairs but no free tables.) At this point people were standing about 3 deep at the bar. My waitress had not reappeared and my time was running out. I went to the bar in an attempt to get service. While standing there talking to another ignored customer, I saw a cook from the kitchen dart over to my table, grab the box of condiments, take it across the room to a stranger's table, then run back into the kitchen through a back door. At this point the place was bedlam. Angry customers stood all around the bar trying to place orders and frantic waitresses could only exclaim "see how busy we are!" when I tried to request my burger. Finally I told one of them that I'd ordered half an hour ago from the 'Jamaican girl' and somehow that got her attention. Miraculously, she brought me a burger and I just had time to gulp it before running back to the tent. So... Sundance is a busy time. This little restaurant is not accustomed to the between-movie crowds but my feeling is that they have no excuse not to be prepared for the rush. Sundance comes every year. It was no secret that 50,000 people were expected to descend on Park City this year. Being busy is not an excuse for wretchedly poor service. My only lasting regret is that I did pay for my meal. This was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had in my life. Pros: location - if you're at the Racquet club you pretty much have no other choice Cons: too noisy, crowded, impossible to get service if it's busy more

Hot Wings in a Sassy Athmosphere 9/22/2002

This is the Best Burger in Park City, not to mention the best wings. They have every wing flavor imaginable... and they are tasty! The Restaurant moved from it's old location and is now above the PC Racquet Club. Recently remodeled, it is a nice, cozy, family restaurant, with a Sports Bar feel. Pool Tables, Video Games and a Big-Screen I love this restaurant. HIGHLY recommended. Pros: Great Wings, Price, Food (Burger) Cons: Upstairs..., No Elevator more

  • The Scene
With large windows overlooking the indoor tennis courts and views of the pool below and mountains beyond, this is not a conventional sports bar. But among the mounted wooden skis, rusty license plates and vintage Burton snowboards hanging on the walls are tons of TVs (including one big screen), all tuned to sports and easily viewed from any table.

    The Food
While the average sports fan might enjoy the buffalo wings, the really hungry skip straight to grilled favorites like spicy turbo Philly--a huge cheese steak doused with hot red sauce and served on a hoagie bun with sliced onions, mushrooms, bell peppers and tons of chopped jalapenos. Try the turkey Reuben or the 1/3-pound burger, which is tasty with a side of deep-fried onion rings. Wash down the grub with any of the broad selection of Park City and Moab microbrews, available on tap by the glass or in pitchers.
