It's a $5 haircut 3/25/2006

My husband often reminds me that a $5 haircut is a $5 haircut. I have had a few great haircuts here and several terrible ones, including a mullet and a Jackson 5 fro. However, the price is right, and I have curly hair that hides mistakes, so I keep coming back. The student staff is mostly female and few of them have had customer service training, so be prepared for them to ignore you and just talk to their friends while cutting and styling your hair for an hour. Few students have confidently known what to do with curly hair (cut or style), so I would not recommend getting work down here if you are African American or a have very textured or curly mane. more

Two options: cheap or pricey 9/16/2005

This place has a beauty school division and a nicer salon for the more experienced workers. I've tried out both and actually prefer the cheaper one even though it takes a lot of time! To me it's worth it to save money. Plus the people cutting your hair have to be reviewed so they can't really mess up too much! more

I use this place for my kids cuts 9/1/2005

I have taken my children here to get their hair cut. I wouldn't personally get my own. Under 5 dollars for kids cuts are great. You do have to watch who you get and I recommend asking for a experienced stylist. They do have advisers checking the cuts and services here. If you have an easy style to cut then I think it would be fine to go here. If you want a more precise cut I would get it done at a real salon more

Bon Losee is just ok 8/31/2005

Bon Losee is a cosmetology school located in Provo, Utah. They seem to really concentrate on speed instead of quality. The stylists seem a bit too conservative also. They also offer skin care. Maybe go for a facial, but I wouldn't recommend a hair cut/color if you want something unique. more

Even though their students, it's worth the money 8/17/2005

Bon Losee Hair academy offers a beauty school for those who want to go into that industry and it offers the rest of the community affordable hair styles and cuts. Since the people cutting your hair are students they charge a cheaper price. Their instructors will inspect the work they've done before you leave so you know you're getting a quality hair style. They also offer beauty supplies and will style your hair for a formal event. Don't forget to leave a tip! more

You take a risk, but it might be worth it! 8/15/2005

Bon Losee is a school, so when you go there, you have to realize that the person helping you is still "in training." However, they have supervisors who check out the final product before you leave, so you're usually in good hands. They provide a variety of services including haircuts, coloring and highlights, waxing, and manicures/pedicures at a very reasonable price. I have always had good experiences there and find that the employees spend extra time with you to make sure that everything turns out just right. The employees don't get paid (since they are in training), so don't forget to tip them!! more
