Best

My friends and I live in the South Bay. We have been going to Blue 32 since early this year. For a girl they have extremely healthy alternatives which are sometimes hard to find...

Worst

I used to like this place...and then: I had a reso for 10 to watch the National championship in one of their private seating areas....I got a call with 48 hours to go saying: too ...

Cancelled Reso 3 days before big event?!! 1/4/2010

I used to like this place...and then: I had a reso for 10 to watch the National championship in one of their private seating areas....I got a call with 48 hours to go saying: too bad so sad we got a bigger party so you are out of luck. WOW! Take Blue32 staight off your customer service list! \r Cons: Bounced reso because they got a bigger reservation! more

Not going back ever again! 1/3/2009

As we walked down the street, we wanted to go for a drink and this place looked ok. There was no line since there were not many people inside so we got in without waiting. It seemed ok, but once it was time to leave - and this place closes at midnight - we got overcharged, more than double! When we pointed it out to the bartender, he became rude and pretended it was a mistake, then tried to call one of the bouncers, he called him 'D', basically trying to intimidate us and threaten to 'meet us outside'!? I mean, can you believe this? We will never go there again and I will make sure to tell everyone I know about our experience. There are way better places in Hermosa, no need to ever go to Blue 32! more

Rude staff; check your credit card receipts/statements carefully! 1/3/2009

Due to the unfortunate Hermosa Beach Laws, Blue 32 has to close down at midnight. So ... exactly at midnight...\r 1) I was told to leave repeatedly even after explaining that my boyfriend was at the bar trying to close out his tab.\r 2) My nearly-finished drink was removed from my hand by a rude waitress, no questions asked.\r 3) The large group next to us was still lounging in their seats, had not been approached by any of the staff to leave, and apparently the reason they were allowed to stay was because ""they had been there all night"" (whereas my group of 10 or so had only been there for an hour).\r 4) The reason why it was taking my boyfriend so long to close his tab was because they overcharged him for his drinks (charged him for 4 or 5 instead of the 2 we -almost- consumed. As a previous poster mentioned, save your receipts and you should definitely call your credit card company to confirm the appropriate charges!).\r \r The bush-league staff at this bar, aside from being incredibly rude, seems to be on a total power trip. I will never return to Blue 32 and I hope you don't either. more

Amazing Food & Service 11/18/2008

My friends and I live in the South Bay. We have been going to Blue 32 since early this year. For a girl they have extremely healthy alternatives which are sometimes hard to find. We choose to go to Blue 32, because the food is excellent and the atmosphere and people are amazing. It is a place where you can go with a group of girls and not feel like your in a meat market. If you have not tried the breakfast on Saturday and Sunday it is a must. If you are looking for a fun place with great food and great people you will not be disappointed. Pros: Great Food, Great atmosphere Cons: Lines after 10pm, parking for $6 across the street more

Awful service! 10/17/2008

DO NOT use a credit card when you decide to ignore all the bad press on this site and go to Blue 32. I went there with a bunch of friends and my bill alone was $100.00, to which I left a $20.00 tip and put in $0.00 on my credit card ONLY to find out the waitress tipped herself SIXTY BUCKS on my car by making the first zero a six! I guess she decided her horrible service was worth $80.00 on a $100.00 bill. NEVER AGAIN! Bring cash ... bring change because you won't get any back. Who owns this place? more

Please make these posts helpful 9/27/2008

To the poster a couple of posts back...Does it matter that a ""Big Black Man"" who is always there got in before? He might be part owner in the restaurant, you have no idea. Secondly, whatever his race is was not the point of your review. Please try to project an iota of tact when you write these reviews so that they may actually be of use to people who are in fact looking for new places to dine, shop, play etc. Pros: Location, People, food Cons: Stuck up crowd more

As bad as this websites need for an alphanumeric username!!! 8/4/2008

Firstly I have been to the restaurant several times on return biz trips from England where I now live, I got out of M.B. when the slimey New Jersey mob set took over the city council, But now that the miami Jewish mob has moved into H.B. it's definately time for the rest of the ORIGINAL south Bay locals to leave! The city council had no right to approve this business in the first place, not only are the door men dealers but the food is s*%* and they really do need to take their stinking sacks back to Miami or whatever cruddy east coast polluted beach they come from! The customer service is lousey too! Later W Gator. Pros: Its close enough to the strand when you need to make a dash and upchuck Cons: its in Hermosa more

BLUE 32 - F-CK THAT PLACE! 6/16/2008

Let me first start by saying that i've been to Blue 32 many times and have had good experiences most of the time. But, I recently went to Blue 32 for a friends Birthday party and was appalled by what happened... \r \r They had reserved a table with bottle service and had put a few friends on the list. I showed up only to be told that I was on the list but would have to wait in line. (Not sure what the point of the list was, or why they keep one)\r \r So we went to the end of the line, which was about 20 people. After about 5 minutes everyone in line left except for 3 guys in front of us. We waited for about 15 minutes, but no one was getting in except for about 30 people which ""shook hands"" with the door staff, most notably a big black guy who is always there. I approached the door man, and asked what the deal was. He said it was going to be $20 a head to ""skip the line"". I replied that there were only 3 people in front of us, to which he said would take at least 45 minutes to get in, if at all. Needless to say, we left.\r \r Come to find out, they weren't letting ANYONE in without greasing the palms of the shady door staff. Dont get me wrong, I dont mind paying to get into a place, but at least let us know there is a cover. Dont make me sit in a line that is not going to get in no matter what. From my understanding, Blue 32 has a policy not to charge cover, ever!!!!! There is no way i'm going to pay some low-life bouncer $20 to get into a bar in hermosa beach of all places.\r \r Blue 32 you have lost a customer, and I urge others to boycott that place until management gets rid of those a-holes that are running the door.\r \r BLUE 32 - F-CK THAT PLACE!\r \r If you are looking for a good place to hang out, the Shore is much better, as well as Underground, and pretty much anywhere on the Pier.\r \r Has anyone else had stuff like this happen around south bay?\r Pros: I have no idea Cons: the door more

Bouncer Derek is an A** - everything else is PHENOMENAL 6/16/2008

The bouncer at this place is the biggest A** I have ever seen working in the customer service industry. My husband and I spend hundreds of dollars at this place almost every week and the staff is SO friendly and accommodating. I've never gone in and not had a huge smile and hello from Mike, Laurie, Jamie, Jeff, and Cindy - they're THE BEST! However, the bouncer (Derek is his name I think) has NEVER had a conversation with us, doesn't even know our name (after we've paid him several times to even let us in), and is completely RUDE to everyone who walks in the place - even regular customers like ourselves who go there to eat and have a great time with our friends. This past weekend, I even witnessed him talking down to our waitress. . . a co-worker! Our table spent about $1000 ALL total between the bar and our waitress and the door guy had the audacity to give her a hard time about letting 2 of our friends join us who had to work late but were coming to meet us. It's our favorite place to hang out - fabulous staff, music, food, and drinks. . . . if we can get through the front door! Pros: Mike, Laurie, Jeff, Jamie, & Cindy Cons: BOUNCER, doorman, Derek more

Fun, great music, great people- CRAPPY BOUNCER 5/27/2008

The bouncer on Friday and Saturday nights (big black guy) is horrendous to deal with - SO RUDE and obnoxious! I don't know who he thinks he is, but apparently he's God's gift to the South Bay. Everything else about the place is A+++++. Great drinks, great food, great atmosphere, music, people - fun, fun, fun all the time (if you can get in that is)! Pros: people, music, employees Cons: BOUNCER, doorman, outside service/greeting more

Excellent Food at the Beach? 8/14/2007

I went to Blue 32 with a group of friends on the recommendation of a client. We went on a Thursday night at 8pm. The decor and ambiance were very upscale for the beach town of Hermosa Beach. We ordered the lobster & shrimp martini and potstickers to start. Both were excellent in preparation and presentation. We then ordered a Filet Mignon, Citrus BBQ Chicken, Miso Halibut, Lamb in a Saffron Rissoto special. My friends were shocked by the quality of the food. The filet was one of the best I have had anywhere. Be warned when ordering they give you a lot of food for each dish. \r \r They also had a one person acoustic guitar show on this day. The singer was great just a little loud. After asking the server the manager turned down the sound system for the singer. When we finished about 10pm the place was getting very busy at the bar. You can tell this is a very popular night spot as well. We will definitely go back here for the food and maybe stay for the nightlife. Pros: Excellent Food, Great Ambiance Cons: Parking is across the street in a parking structure, no valet more

Um, did I say keep the change? 11/27/2005

We recently took two of my friend here for their birthday. The rest of us all wanted to pitch in and pay for them, but we all only had large bills. We all threw in our large bills and gave them to the waitress, but she never came back. When I finally saw her again I asked her for our change and she brought me back a $20 bill. Our bill was $160 and together we had put in $250. I was very put off by a waitress who would have the audacity to decide her own tip. I will go there again, but I'll be sure to pay with a card. Pros: good food, good drinks, great t.v.'s Cons: poor service, too trendy more

A great place for locals 11/10/2005

If you've ever been to Hermosa, you know that the bouncers at every bar cater to the locals. If you are going to be annoyed by waiting in line to get in somewhere - you should go to Pasadena. If you are willing to wait a while to get into a great bar with strong drinks, good music and an amazing atmosphere, go to Blue 32. With less tourists than there are in the Pier bars, Blue 32 is my favorite bar in Hermosa - always a good time! Pros: Good Crowd, Good Drinks, Good Staff Cons: Hollywood types, Drunk Out of Towners more

Quality Restaurant and Bar hits Hermosa! 8/2/2005

For a local in the South Bay, this place is amazing! The food was excellent! Our party tried quite a few items, however, the filet and lobster martini stand out. Probably, the best food I have tried in Hermosa Beach. You will definitely need a reservation during the weekend. After 10:30pm the place would be described as a Vegas or South Beach Miami style lounge atmosphere. The locals were out in force the Friday night we went. This place removes a lot of the stereotypes we have come to expect from the pier plaza restaurants in Hermosa. Our party will definitely return for the food and atmoshpere. Pros: Ambiance, Staff, Food Cons: Crowded, Parking, Line more

Hollywood pretention looms in the South Bay 7/18/2005

Rude and lame. Two words that I would use to describe what sounds like a football call to everyone you say it to. For a new club that is off the main pier I was surprised how rude the doormen were. After 30 minutes of waiting in line and not moving (because of all the young girls cutting in front) I was surprised to walk in the bar smaller than my two bedroom apartment and see go go dancers wearing hustler panties and not much else dancing on tables. Drinks were served in the ever classy plastic cups, and while you weren't distracted by very large TVs with random music videos playing you were looking for a seat among one of the three empty, but ""reserved"" tables. For this beach town girl I would say Blue 32 needs to go back to a hollywood club's basement where it came from. more

Miami Beach in Hermosa Beach- So Cool! 7/14/2005

We got there early to eat. Great appetizers, recommend the lobster martini and kobe burger wraps. Everyone loved their entrees, I had the filet salad- so good! Got really noisy by 9pm, do not recommend eating there late. But, the party got going when the dinner rush stopped. The ambiance was better than Hollywood, great music, Go Go dancers, and cool cabanas- We partied there all night. Pros: Great Food, Great Ambiance Cons: Very Crowded more
