Best

Technician Matt #729 arrived and fully explained what he intended to do. The drain started flowing after pushing about 100 feet down it. Will definitely be using them for plumbing...

Worst

Good: great cleanup, courteous installer, nice job. Bad: Lump sum cost, would not send me an itemized receipt, cost was very high according to plumbers I talked to. Wouldn't eve...

Damaged MY AC Unit 5/29/2016

I won a "consolation prize" of a free furnace and AC tune-up from Blind & Sons during a contest at WNIR's radio. The tech came out on May 28 and asked if we could only do the AC tune up (he said it was going to be too hot in my attic to work on the furnace and he had a busy day ahead of him). He completed the job in 90 minutes and said that the AC unit was old but in great condition. He recommended I schedule a free estimate for a new furnace and AC because they had great rebates going on right now. Fast forward 3-4 hours and my AC unit will not turn on. I look at the unit outside, find screws laying on the cement slab, notice a panel on the unit has a pinched lip, and is not seated correctly. I called their service line, was told my tech is off for the day but she will dispatch the on-call tech immediately. Five hours later, I still hadn't heard from anyone at the company, so I called the service line to see when they will be out. Twice in a row, as soon as I said my name, they hang up. The third person answers and says "No one has called you yet?" She then apologizes, lets me know how busy they were today, and informs me a tech will call as soon as possible to let me know when he will be out to my house. I have now been without AC for over 21 hours (house sits at a toasty 85 degrees), and there has been zero communication from Blind & Sons. It's safe to assume Blind & Sons has chosen to enjoy their Memorial Day weekend, rather than fixing the damage their tech has caused. On the bright side, I got to relive what it was like growing up in the 80's before my family got AC. On the super disappointing side, I have to either cancel, or move the cookout from my house to another family member. Blind & Sons website touts a "100% satisfaction guarantee;" to date, I've only experienced incompetent techs and disinterested customer service reps. more

only giving one star because you can't give zero. Don't trust this company. They will promise things and then when it comes time to deliver they will add to the price. Bad business. more

Main drain not draining 1/11/2014

Technician Matt #729 arrived and fully explained what he intended to do. The drain started flowing after pushing about 100 feet down it. Will definitely be using them for plumbing problems in the future. He also took the time to explain causes and solution to the problem. more

Main sewer drain clogged 9/16/2013

Randy Watson #642 came to my house the clear my main sewer line. He arrived 10min early, went right to work and got it cleared. He did a fantastic job, was professional and cleaned up afterwards. I would highly recommend Randy and Blind and Sons based on this experience. more

Rob You Blind (& Sons) 12/11/2012

On 12/10/2012 I had a tech out to perform routine maintenance on my furnace. He told my father, who was at the house at the time, that my furnace was cracked and needed to be repaired for about $800, but that he would seriously recommend replacing the furnace. He also said that my T&P valve on my hot water heater was defective and my breaker box needed to be replaced. I was concerned about his recommendations, especially since I had replaced my T&P valve, and it is in perfect working order. My father-in-law, who is an electrical engineer, had looked at my breaker box previously and indicated it was also fine. Before undertaking an expensive repair or replacement, I decided to get a second opinion. I called another HVAC company in my area and had them come out and check the furnace. The tech said there is nothing wrong with it and that it didn't need either a repair or replacement. I had paid Blind $170, which was supposed to cover maintenance on the furnace and the A/C unit in the Spring. Other than taking the furnace apart and telling me it needed to be replaced, the Blind tech didn't perform any maintenance on the unit. My father asked him if he wanted to vacuum it out while he had it apart, and even offered to get the sweeper for him, but the tech said he wasn't going to bother cleaning anything. I called Blind and, under their 100% money back satisfaction guarantee, requested my $170 back, especially since I not only won't let them service my A/C, I wouldn't let them in my house for any reason. After berating me for not taking the tech seriously and questioning his evaluation, the service manager said someone would call me back about refunding my money. I haven't received a refund, and based on Blind's apparent business practices, am not at all confident I will ever get it. more

Too Expensive, Service Contract Not Worth It 9/8/2011

We have used Blind and Sons for a few years for various electrical and plumbing needs. Overall we were satisfied with the service, to the point where we agreed to a $15/month service contract which was supposed to give us preference and better pricing. Last week our water heater (previously installed by them 5 years ago) sprang a leak. We called at 7 AM to have a tech come, considering they claim "24/7 service". Instead I was told they would come out "sometime that day" to look for it. When the tech arrived, he confirmed what we already suspected - we needed a new water heater. The first time they put one in, it was $587. This time they quoted us a price of $1,035, and that was AFTER a 10% service plan discount. To top it off, they were going to replace it with the exact same type of heater that was there before - a middling quality Bradford White. I called around to other places, including Sears and the Home Depot. To a company, they quoted me prices between $200-$300 cheaper than what Blind & Sons wanted to charge us. Thankfully I was able to cancel the appointment, and the next day Home Depot installed a high-efficiency GE water heater for $775. Suffice to say, we have canceled our service contract. Even with the savings, Blind & Sons is just too expensive by far. They're not the only game in town and need to stop charging like they are. more

Love them! 6/21/2011

Last week Blind & Sons came out to replace my water heater. I have been using them for 20 years now and their customer service still blows me away. Their electrical division has rewired my whole house and now just currently I had some more plumbing done. Everyone that comes out to my home is very polite and efficient, they even remembered my cats name! Because of their customer service it was an easy decision to renew my contract which just run out. It is refreshing to find a business that is truly interested in the welfare of the customers in terms of safety, finances, and comfort. more

Costly and mixed review on company 2/23/2011

I was happy with the install they did on my hot water heater albeit very expensive. Next time I used them, I ended up not being too happy. I had them come out to look at the main sewer line and the guy quoted me 6 grand to get a section replaced. After talking to other plumbers in the area, the job B&S recommeneded wasn't neccessary (I could take care of tree roots in drain with routine maintenance) and was overly expensive. more

Very Helpful 1/6/2011

This company was very helpful and even came back to make a change at my request without any problem or extra charge. I’m very satisfied. more
