Delicious food and friendly service 12/3/2010

I have been to this location several times, and I have to say that every time has been a treat! The food is excellent and the service was fantastic. It can get a bit pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. Large portions of wonderful food. They do tend to get very busy on the weekends, but are pretty quiet during the week. We did have to wait about 15 minutes one Friday night, even though we had reservations, but we had a large party of 8 people. Our waitress was really accommodating of our needs and even though it took a little longer than desirable to get our food, she apologized and we felt taken care of, despite how busy they were. more

Awesome over all! 6/20/2009

Fresh quality ingredients, exciting flavors, stir fried to order, awesome atmosphere, clean & alive restaurant – little noisy but I like that. Our waiter gave us personalized service creating the feeling of being his only table even though he had full section. Recognized us as “first time guest” and answer every question and bragged about the kitchen”! Kitchen was alive with fire and all cooks were sharp, clean and intense, very showmen like in actions and look. Managers were over seeing quality at kitchen and assisting guest at the “Stir fry bar”. Quality was such that no manager visit was needed to insure our return. This will be one of my top options when dining out. If you have a chance, stop by Roseville Mall and ask for Brett’s section. more

great food and always busy 9/11/2008

i work at big bowl and i would like to respond to the previous review about bad service. if a restuarant is busy you cannot expect the best service. if your waitor or waitress takes a while to get to you you must remember that they have a whole section of customers that need assistance also, espiacally if we are busy, which is everynight. when you go out to eat dont expect the very best. their is always other people at the restuarant than you. if your order is wrong, well it is not ok but the kitchen only has so many cooks. i love where i work i love the food and i believe that our servers and cooks do their very best at everything they do. i am sorry that you had a bad experince but that doesnt mean that everyone else is going to have one also. Pros: amazing food Cons: a little over prized more

Great Experience! 8/30/2008

I'm sad to read the previous reviews. Every time my fiance and I have been to Big Bowl/Rosedale, it has been a great experience. This evening, our server John (or maybe spelled Jon) was a pleasant surprise to our usually dining experience at Big Bowl. Yes, we appreciate the location, the mall-shoppping experience, and the servers/food. However, John exceeded our expecations in every way and delivered fantastic service. We will be back for the dumplings, the calamari, as well as the pad thai. John suggested the mochi and because of this, made our entire dining experience complete. Fron the get-go, we asked to sit in a booth and the host sat us right away. Ultimately, we've been to everything from Al Vento to Spoonriver, Monte Carlo, etc ., and truly, John(Jon?) was amazing! He recommended everything from cocktails through dessert and was right on! I felt like he made the entire meal an experience rather than just going out to eat. We'll be back, great experience! Pros: Pad Thai, John the Server, PB Mochi, Dumplings, Etc...! more

Avoid at al costs! 8/21/2008

I went to Big Bowl a couple weeks ago with my girlfriend for lunch. We were seated promptly but it took the waitress about 10 minutes just to get our menus. We both ordered the stir fry and picked out our vege's and meat. After a short wait we received our food and it wasnt even close to what we ordered. The vege's we picked were correct, but the meat and sauces were different. We informed the server immediately and she said she would fix it and then left with our plates. Now this raised an obvious question. Since we picked out our own vege's, does this mean we have to start over? After about five minutes, they brought our plates back with what appeared to be the correct order. Basically they dumped our meals onto new plates and picked out the wrong meat and added the correct sauce. It was absolutely horrible. We were offered no discounts or apologies for their blatant error. The price for two people for lunch without beverages was $31.33. I emailed Big Bowl via their website and was contacted immediately by the manager. I told her what happened but she stated that because I did not keep my receipt that there was nothing she could do for me. My only praise for Big Bowl is their wide selection of vegetables. Other than that, everything else is terrible. Pros: Wide selection of vege's. Large menu Cons: Extremely overpriced, terrible/slow service, terrible management more

I Want to Like It.... 9/17/2007

I've visited Big Bowl a handful of times and I just don't get it. I thought I'd give it one more chance, well - I'm done. I can't find anything I like or even remotely enjoy at this place. I gave the stir fry bar a chance and it didn't work for me. The service was uneven and the hostess kept piling chairs over by our table it was very strange. Let me not forget the dirty wine glass that was on the table.\r \r You can get more interesting Asian food on University in St. Paul for cheaper with less screaming kids running around.\r \r Pros: Location Cons: Food, Service, Kids Running around more

Great food!!! 10/8/2006

The food at big bowl is really really good. I went there after shopping one day and had a chicken coconut peanut dish with fresh veggies. Yummy! The only draw back is that they were out of their famous spring rolls when I went the first time but every time after that I have had them. I also love their ginger ale that is made in house. The decorations in the restaurant and the lighting create a fun mood inside the store. The staff at the bar is also a lot of fun. Talk to them!!! It is a little more expensive than applebees or other common site down restaurants but worth it for the odd night out. Pros: Yummy food, great ambience Cons: More expensive than average more

pretty yucky 8/15/2005

Ok, what do you expect from a restaurant in the mall. I wasn't expecting it to taste like what I had in Thailand....but seriously the pad thai was pretty sad. The chicken was good but really MUSHY noodles, and they did not use authentic spices at all, and it cost over 9 bucks. The interior was stylish and the waitstaff/hostess were nice but...a bad, americanized version of Pad Thai. Never again. Pros: cute interior, nice staff Cons: not authentic, more
