Editorial review from Citysearch 9/11/2013

While visiting The Beach Waterpark this past Saturday, August 24th, 2013, we rode the Big Kahuna. As I have ridden the ride many of times before, I have never had a bad experience like this one this past Saturday.\r I rode with my father in the front and myself in the back seat. We came off the last drop of the slide and our raft did not stop! It kept going and sending us at an extremely fast pace into the cement wall at the end of the pool. My father was lucky to have ducked his head in time to not hit the cement wall straight on! Instead with his left foot in front, he ducked he hit his shoulder and head! With the force I was crashed into my father’s body.\r As I stood up and pushed the raft away, my father was trying to catch his breath and stand up. While I’m trying to help my father up, continuing to push the raft away I saw the life guard just standing there. Taking a step back from his post, without offering to help my father or I out, I called my husband (who witnessed all this with my sister) to come in and help us out. As we were being helped out by my husband, it was pointed out to me by other witnesses that there was no cushion to soften any kind of stop at the ending pool. It is a piece of flapping old foam and straight concrete under with a wooden post above where the lifeguard stood.\r My husband came into the water and got my father over to side walk to sit down. As the ride continued and guests we’re asking if we we’re okay if they could get someone to help. It wasn’t until my husband went over to the lifeguard and asked for him to call a medic that we we’re acknowledge by the lifeguard.\r Finding out the guard did not have a whistle to call; he left his post to go get someone. We then had two other lifeguards come up to us, ask where the lifeguard standing at the bottom was, we replied ‘to find a medic’. Never introducing them to us, we later found out one of the guards were the supervisor on duty.\r We let my father sit for few minutes, with the supervisor asking what exactly happened and if everyone was okay. She offers a wheelchair; we decline and walk my father to the first aid office where we were introduced to Nick, the manager of the park that day.\r As my father was getting checked out, bruises we’re coming forth and found out that my father remembered very little, having instant bruise on his foot and ankle, shoulder and an instant headache.\r Procedures are what are shocking to me… I used to work at The Beach years ago, and every lifeguard had a whistle and a first aid fanny pack. The whistle is your emergency call; we were left without a lifeguard and a whistle for minutes, the emergency was not taken seriously.\r I am very shocked with how this getting us help in the pool was handled and carried out.\r \r AND YET the GM has yet to respond to my email or phone calls. Real professional. more

Depressing and dirty 6/24/2011

A few friends and I decided to go to the Beach recently. Yes, the lines were short, but this did not make up for the overall crap experience. The wave pool wasn't working the entire seven hours we were there, the lazy river was dirty and way too small, and the overall maintenance of the park was poor. The ground is made out of feet-burning material wherever you are, which seems like a stupid thing for a waterpark to have. To top off this crap-filled day, The Beach has a tiny 8x8 cage off to the side where no one really sees it filled with about 20 sick-looking birds, including a peacock with most feathers missing. This park was so crap to begin with, I don't know why they felt the need to add animal abuse to the list. more

Great Waterpark 6/12/2011

The Beach is a wonderful waterpark at an affordable price. We got our tickets on sale online for $14 a person. Expect to pay for parking and to rent a locker (things you normally find at a waterpark). You can rent a tube, but all rides that need it the tubes are provided. There aren't as many slides but they are fun and the lines were not long. We were able to go on slides several times and there were several options for places to sit. The park was clean and safe. The only negative was that sometimes it was hard to find where to enter for some of the slides. more

Old and Rundown waterpark 8/6/2009

This place really needs to be updated and maintained. It is very dirty. The water smells and lazy river has leaves, insects and dirt at the bottom of it. Appears as if it has not been cleaned in days. The bathrooms/changing areas are filthy. The rides are all old, nothing new or exciting here. Then the cost, you have to pay to rent a tube and a chair. This is after paying $30 admission and $7.50 parking. It is not a thrilling waterpark so this is a place I would avoid. Pros: Swimming pool Cons: Dirty and Everything costs extra more

expensive day at ""the beach"" 8/5/2007

My family and I were interested in finding a good waterpark to go to this summer. I found their website and it looked great. It advertised family pack admissions but it didn't say you could only get that price on the internet. So after paying for 7 people I ended up shelling out $195.00!!! It also didn't say that you had to pay for tubes ($5.95). We rented the yellow tubes and the people that we rented them from didn't tell us that we could only use them on 3 of the rides!!! Turns out you had to either rent the blue tubes or the double person tubes and I have no idea how much those were because by then I was disappointed and broke! Also the large locker was $6.75 to rent in addition to a $5.00 deposit. We packed our lunch so I can only imagine how much that would cost someone. I think the park was very nice but I think they need to advertise the additional costs on the internet so families can be prepared for the additional costs they will incur. more

Fantastic Park! 1/25/2007

My family and I visit The Beach every summer and we absolutely love it. The best part is that I can sit and relax by the Wavepool and the kids can run around and enjoy all the rides. I feel very comfortable letting my kids go out on their own at this park. And there is so much to do you really can't get it all in in one visit. My families favorites are the Aztec, Cliff, the Pearl (heated pool) and the Wavepool. I also really enjoy the Lazy River. The best time to go is on Sundays. They have live Reggae Bands right next to the wavepool. My teenage daugher also goes to their Teen Dance Club and she has a blast every Tuesday. It's a great place for teens to hang out in a safe, non alcoholic and controlled environment. Pros: Safety, Ambience, Service, Rides, Additional Entertainment and Events, Price... Cons: Sometimes you can't find a loung chair. Get their early to make sure you get a good one. more
