Wonderful restaurant 11/8/2007

My wife and I, along with another couple, went to this restaurant one weekday evening and all of us were impressed with their ambience, white table cloths, service, and their food. We have wine to go with our meals and the waitress made nice food and wine recommendations for us. This was the second time for us and the first visit for our friends. All of us have were very pleased with the choice of this restaurant. more

Twilight Zone 12/17/2005

I received a gift certificate that I believe was a 're-gift' as it was set to expire one month from the time I received it. From the time we sat down, my wife and I could not believe this dining nightmare. My wife asked what syrups were available for a latte and the server said that they had grenadine or pineapple juice. My cream of broccoli soup tasted like canned concentrate cut with water. The dinner salad was a small mound of romaine lettuce with some sort of red kidney bean on the side. My sandwich came with what appeared to have once been fries, but as it took the cook a couple of times to prepare my (my wife could see the open kitchen and saw him remove my meal from the window) I believe that they had refried the fries, so the resulting greasy mound of clumped potatoes was inedible. My wife's second choice (we were told that they were out of pizza crusts) was a seafood risotto. The Rice-a-roni they were trying to pass off as risotto was a joke. When we finally did mention our dissapointment to our server, she had to go outside to the salon next door to find the manager/owner or whoever she was. We waited a few minutes to see what would be said, but finally just left our gift certificate on the table and walked out. Between us, we have over 30 years in and are not overly critical or chronic complainers, as we have both dealt with that type, but what a joke of a restaurant. We came home and enjoyed a frozen pizza. It's too bad I have to give even one star, as that was not even earned. But at least that explains the re-gift. more

The best mahi-mahi I've ever had 8/13/2005

I received a gift certificate from my work and probably never would have gone into this place on my own. It seemed a bit staunchy for me. I must say, the atmosphere is very nice, and the food is suberb. I had the Pesto Mahi-Mahi and the presentation was perfect and the taste was unreal. For being a higher class resturant, the portion size was larger than expected. I had to take part of my meal home. more

Restaurant 8/13/2005

Basil Cafe is a very nice place to eat for a special occasion without spending special occasion money! The ambiance is fantastic, clean white table clothes and napkins, great waiters and an open kitchen. They do have limited outdoor seating as well. All the food is very good, the pizzas are actually excellent! You won't be disappointed. more
