One of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had 3/9/2007

If you have any sense at all...you will save your money and go somewhere else. We went to Antipasto's with high expectations. What we found, though, was beyond disappointing. First off, the service was terrible. We arrived at 6:15 p.m., ordered drinks and a soup (appitizer), and then waited nearly 45 minutes for our $9.95/ea. bowls of French onion soup. $10 a bowl??? Seriously, it's onions. To make matters worse, the seating was so cramped that I could hardly take a sip of the outrageously priced soup without being bumped into by either a waiter or passing patron. When our meal finally did arrive (around 7:30) we were just relieved to be one step closer to leaving.\r \r Now here comes the best part....we get our check for $76. Yes, you read that right. $76 for two bowls of soup, two main dishes consisting entirely of veggies, and two glasses of wine. AND THEY DON'T TAKE CREDIT CARDS. What??? You'd think that they might mention this prior to seating. Appparently, it's in tiny letters on their menu (or so the rude manager explained to us). Who charges $20+ a plate and does not take credit cards? Unbelievable. \r \r Please, take my advise and save your money (and sanity). I was so frustrated by the time I left there that I could not even enjoy the rest of my night. With so many awesome restaurants in the Capital Region, the foolishness of Antipasto's just isn't worth it. Pros: I'm still trying to figure that out... Cons: PRICE. Service. Seating arrangements. Management. NO CREDIT CARDS??? more

A Capital Region Gem 3/27/2006

Having visited Antipasto's many times over the last 5 years, I felt obligated to post a review. I'll keep it simple; you will not find a better place for wine anywhere in this area. The owner prides himself on finding low-production estate wines that are great values. They have something for everyone; the staff is very unassuming (forget the snooty wine-drinker image) and the choices are endless. The vegetarian-friendly menu provides interesting twists on the usual Italian menu staples. I know for a fact they use very high quality and unique ingredients. Is Antipasto's cheap? Nope. But there are plenty of Pizza Huts and TGIFs in the area for that. Pros: wine list, food, intimacy more
