I only gave this place 1 star because this review system requires the reviewer to give a star rating. Rather than a star, I really give this veterinary center TOTAL thumbs down! Afterall, bottom line, such an establishment claims to exist to IMPROVE the health/well-being of living beings, vs. KILL THEM!\r \r I feel compelled to WARN ALL about the careless practices at Animal Medical Center in Auburn, CA.  When I took my newly adopted beloved bird in simply for a wing check and opinion (no treatment requested, and NO treatment OK'd) regarding the best strategy to maintain her wings, a bill of perfect health was granted by the first vet (Rich Jackson) who examined her. (Please note: she was a completely blind bird -- see cockatiel "Buttercup" on their Facebook page -- and had been for nearly her entire life. That is very unfortunate that you had that type of experience with Dr. Bailey, I could never see her saying something like that. My experience with Dr. Bailey at Cool Animal Hospital was exceptional. I had to euthanize my dog a few months ago and I have never seen more compassion from a vet in 40 plus years of being a pet owner. I have had the best experience with Cool Animal Hospital for the past 4 years, from the receptionists to the technicians and of course Dr. Bailey! I highly reccommend Cool Animal Hospital to any pet owner! more

Animal Medical Center is now my Vet after being a client of Cool Animal Hospital for years. I quit going there after Dr Baily started there. I was turned away by her bedside manner. She has no compasion for pets. She euthanized my dog and it was the worst experience of my life. Not only was the receptionist rude and uncaring but the whole time we were in the office she was laughing loud and inapropiatly. After my pet passed the doctor listened to her heart and said "OK it's dead. I'm sorry". Horrible experience. Staff is very unfriendly.\r I love Dr Kent and the technician that used to work there. They are gone now and I would imagine it was Dr Baily and the receptionist that ran them off. more

I have been taking my cats to Animal Medical Center in Auburn and Cool since 2002. While all of the vets and techs there are wonderful, Dr. Kent Jackson is truly a special man. He is the kindest veterinarian I have ever met. He always takes his time with me and every alternative is discussed in detail and offered. Dr. Jackson went out of his way to meet with us on a Sunday when our cat Katey fought her last battle in this life. I will forever be grateful for his compassion and gentleness with her and with me. I take my dog and cat to this location. I love the fact that I have received such great customer service from them and that they are so informative. I have had to call them a couple of times for advice between visits and they have always taken the time to talk about whatever concerns I had and give advice at no charge. Peace of mind when you are concerned about the health of your animal is worth so much, and they provide it! Their doctors are caring, well educated and sincere in their care of my family member. \r \r I wouldn't think of going elsewhere! Call them and experience their wonderful service for yourself. more

My dog, a Chesapeake Bay/Lab mix had some serious inherent hind quarter deficiencies. In 2001, at 3 years of age, she destroyed her left hind ACL playing in the river where I was fishing. Took her to DR Rich Jackson and he performed a great reconstructive surgery on that left leg. About a year later she did the same to her right leg. Again Dr Jackson performed the same procedure on her right leg. Today, 10/2006 she is better than new. I mean that, she is certainly better than new. She is still fishing with me. I fish the Truckee river, American River, the Sacramento River and she is right there with me. We also work her out in the Pacific surf and she is doing just great. If anyone needs to consider whether or not Dr. Jackson is the one to do this procedure, do not worry, he is the best there is, in my opinion.\r \r Thanks for your time, Ron Wayman PROS: Super doctors and staff CONS: none more

The Animal Medical Center, located right off of highway 49 by Taco Bell, is a wonderful place to take your animal for care. Though their office doesn't look big, they care for animals of all sizes, including horses, cattle, etc. They make house calls for an additional charge. The vets that you meet are all friendly and passionate about providing excellent care for your furry, scaly, or feathery friend. I am impressed with the care my various pets have received from the Animal Medical Center. Highly recommend!! :) more

I have taken my cat as well my labrador retriever and rottweiller mix dog to this veterinary. The doctors were friendly and answered all the questions that I had. It was quite clean and welcoming to both myself and my animals. The prices are reasonable and they have a coupon that is in the phone books that is good for the free first visit for a cat or dog to the office. There were free items such as covers for cans of animal food. They have a 24 hour emergency service and deal in not only small animals but also in livestock, horses, bird and reptiles. Overall, I would recommend this location to anyone who cares about their animals. more
