Dr. Stadlen is Awesome! 3/15/2011

I came in here looking to get more contacts. I had no idea that this was supposed to be done every year. \r I looked them up on YELP and figured that they were in the hood so I'd come by and give them a try.\r I went in for my exam. Not too bad of a wait, average 15-20 min(I've waited longer at other doctor offices). I can't tell you how impressed I was with the exam and just the overall good bedside manner of the doctor.\r Not only was I wearing outdated contacts, butg my eyes were suffering.\r thanks to Dr. stadlen , I now have healthier eyes. The staff is sweet and friendly, too. They give good deals when you buy year supplies but they aren't pushy at all.\r i'll be back!!! more

All They Could Say was ""Money"" 2/11/2011

After giving them my my business for 15 years they INSISTED on charging me $25 dollars to replace a simple, cheap temple piece. Since I wasn't happy, they told me to come back and they would remove it. Patients are just $$$ to them. It was quite a shock hearing this right after my dentist told me she would just charge me $220 for a crown my insurance wouldn't cover because I was a valued patient. American Eye Care, why bother? more

The right place 1/13/2011

These guys are the best. I drive from long island to keep going to them. They know what they are doing and never disappoint. I used my Vsp insurance and they helped me pick out a pair of glasses that are perfect for me. The exam from Dr Stadlen was impressive. He gives me the time I need and takes a personal interest in helping me. Good old fashion customer service that is rare to find today more

Quality Eye Care, Great Staff, Good Prices 12/23/2010

This place is awesome!\r I saw Dr. Stadlen last week for an eye exam. He was thorough and answered all of my questions. I was kindly lead out to a sales person(Suzanne) who showed me frames that were in my price range and actually looked really good on me.\r Definitely run over . Another great thing-they reminded me about my flex spending! it was like buying my glasses for free! thanks everyone! more

Well worth the trip! 11/30/2010

Although we live 80 miles from Astoria, my husband and I have yet to find another eye doctor as competent and trustworthy as Dr. Stadlen and his team. They are through and caring and extremely professional. Doctor Stadlen is very generous with his time and addresses any and all issues with care and concern. In addition, there is also an attractive and varied selection of eyeware both in style and in price. We will continue to visit American Eye Care and Doctor Stadlen and his staff for many years to come! more

The right place to go ! 11/22/2008

Last week I stopped by American Eye Care and was pleasantly surprised to find such a great and accommodating place in Astoria. I visited all the others in the area and had given up on staying local to take care of my eye care. I have VSP insurance and a friend told me to try them. I am glad she did. They really know there stuff and have a great selection. I was glad to see that they were very active with people coming and going the whole time I was there. To me, that is a sign of a business that knows how to do things right. I particularly found it interesting how they remembered their previous customers and how sincerely friendly they were with everybody. This place is a refreshing change. The way service should be. I was helped by 2 young ladies that offered me guidance with my new look and clearly explained the differences between all the new types of lenses and how my insurance planned worked. I have now picked up my glasses and I am thrilled with everything. How well I see, how I look and how much money they saved me. I absolutely recommend this place ! Pros: Experience, Knowledge, Great Customer Service, Great Selection Cons: Closed Sundays more

just a very bad place 10/25/2008

never go there. poor quality work, doctor is unprofessional, do not remember his patients and can not even suggest you a proper lenses, which fits you well. you have to track your order yourself and call them every other week to check if the put the order in for you. and even if they tell they will, they actually did not. pretty messy, dirty and no new equipement. stuff is very unfriendly. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! more

part of their problem is they see too many patients and they have dollar signs in their eyes. even the optician. i wish i had read these reviews before i ran over one night at 5:30 and waited until 6:45 to be seen. dr. standlen seemed personable and informative but very rushed. many of their frames are priced at the magic number of $249. even with coverage i just didn't want to pay more than $100-150 for everything including routine exam. the staff was helpful enough, not terribly sincere, polite but robotic (happy to have a job). well i suppose that's the price i have to pay for convenience???\r \r Pros: open after 6pm and nearby Cons: long wait, felt rushed, expensive more

An Astoria Gem for Eye Care 6/17/2008

I have always had nothing but a great experience with Dr Stadlen, Jay and the staff at American Eye Care. I sent my wife and two friends there and they were all pleased with the service and selection. In a world were (it often seems) that no one cares, they are a welcome exception and my family's business is theirs until they lock their doors. more

Worth the Drive ! 6/14/2008

I have been going to Dr Mark Stadlen at the American Eye Care for over 15 years. I use to live in Astoria and now live on Long Island. I still go back every year to see them. It is more then worth the trip. Dr Stadlen is a wonderful doctor that really cares about what he is doing. The staff is always very respectful and they have a fantastic selection of eyewear. I would never go elsewhere. Pros: Great exam, large selection , compettive prices, accepts my insurance Cons: parking, closed on sundays more

Not the best for eye care 3/12/2008

I've been going to Dr. Stadlen at American Eye Care for 2 years now.\r After 15 years of wearing contacts I've never, until Dr. Stadlen, waited for an hour on average to see my optometrist. This is standard here.\r Also be sure you know who you are and what you're doing there as they don't keep very good files and he never checks the file before seeing you. Nor does he remember you as a patient.\r Every time I have to remind him what I do and what I'm there for. This winter I went in for a specific problem and saw him twice in one week. From Tuesday to Friday he'd completely forgotten my name, why I'd come in, etc.\r \r Most importantly he told me to ask the front desk to order me new contacts-it's now been 5 weeks and they can't seem to find the order, they don't return calls, etc.\r Don't use these folks they're not your best bet for eye care. Pros: convenient to Astorians, speak spanish Cons: disorganized staff, long waits more
